Kaien blushed brightly, pulling away a bit but staying close to her still. "About a year ago, someone tried breaking into our apartment in the middle of the night and he broke my window when he tried to get in... I still haven't really gotten over it... The sound of breaking glass does the same thing to me..."

Ayane leaned into Kaien's arm, taking hold of his hand and lacing their fingers together, "That would explain your reaction to the lights going out, I can't even begin to imagine the trauma of an experience like that, though it would be something I wouldn't be able to forget easily if it did happen to me." Outside her window, the rain still continued to crash against the glass, the sounds of thunder still heard now and then.

Shivering softly, Kaien cuddled into her, lightly resting his head on her shoulder. "It was nightmarish... All I saw was a hand holding something long and metallic... I think it was a bat..."

"I think it was better that you didn't know what it really was, it could have been far worse if you did, but let's not talk about it anymore; it's giving me the chills just thinking about it." Ayane told him softly, kissing his cheek again, then wrapped her tail around Kaien.

Kaien nodded, remaining silent as he stayed close to her, his tail wrapping around her waist in return.

Giving his hand a gentle squeeze, Ayane started singing softly, her voice was alluring and had a trace like effect; the lyrics were from her favorite songs. Ayane didn't like to sing around others, but she felt comfortable doing it around Kaien, plus she got the sudden urge to just do it.

It started with a kiss and turned out something else,
The blood coils in through my veins, I think of no one else.
I never believed in much, but I believe in this.

When she finished singing, Ayane snapped out if and blushed, "I hope you don't mind that I just did that."

Kaien lightly hugged her to him, hiding his face and the tears stinging his eyes as he buried it into her shoulder. "That was beautiful..."

"I... thanks, that usually never happens, I'm a bit shy when it comes to singing around others; so I only sing when I'm alone." Ayane replied softly, pushing a bit of hair out of her eyes, and returned Kaien's hug.

Managing to look up at her, Kaien let out a soft purr, smiling. "I hope one day you can share your gift with the world... Your voice is like an angel's..."

"Oh please," she shyly looked at him, "you're just being nice, my voice isn't that great." Her blush deepened a bit more, but Ayane giggled a little, then kissed Kaien and nuzzled him.

Kaien let out a soft mew after they kissed. "I'm serious... Your singing is amazing... It's better than a lot of professional singers' voices..."

Ayane hugged Kaien tightly and replied, "Thanks again, you're really sweet, I've never thought my voice was all that good. I mean, I knew I had a good singing voice, but I never thought it was better than a professionals'. Yet I'm not the only who can sing well, you should hear Kaori's voice, it's really amazing."

His ears twitching, Kaien purred happily in her arms. "The only voice I want to hear is yours..."

"Don't worry about that, you'll be the only one who gets to hear me sing, I promise you that." She told him. Ayane purred softly as they held each other, the gentle sound of rainfall could be heard in her now silent room, though a piano could be heard playing just down the hall.

Kaien gently nuzzled Ayane's cheek, continuing to purr. Being close to her made him happy, made him forget about all the troubles he had had. Shutting his eyes, he lightly rested his head against her, letting out a soft, contented mew.
