If the angel told him rather than the Alpha then that would bring them closer instead of with the Alpha. Also, if he could get this weight off of the angel's chest then he wouldn't come back every few hours and would give Spike a chance to actually rest.

As embarrassing as it was, it wasn't like Spike was going to tell anybody. The maids blatantly refused to care for him and the doctor only ever came in when he absolutely had to. Looking in the opposite direction, Phoebe spoke very, very quietly. "It's just... I'm not sure I have enough stamina to keep up with Dragon. I mean, I'm not a young man anymore! But he is, and I feel like I'm restricting him, which is the very last thing I'd ever want to do. But at the same time, we can't advance past a few sessions of heavy petting without me passing out!" Had Spike known what Phoebe was referring to he would've found himself having a nosebleed. (Un)fortunately, he didn't, so he gave the redhead a blank stare. "What do you need stamina for? Spike scratched the side of his neck. He looked around. There had never been any problems like these for him before. Hell, he never really knew how to handle problems in general. He thought back to the times he could possibly have a mating partner that was too weak for him. The solution to that was simple: he wouldn't take a partner that was too weak for him. Spike looked at the concern on the angel's face. That wouldn't stop them, would it? The lengths Dragon went to protect him also showed that strength didn't matter to him.
"Umm... train?" suggested Spike with a questioning shrug. "When someone in the pack is weak they must train so that they won't bring the pack down. Although I don't know how you would get stronger for something like that..."

Phoebe thought to himself, looking up at the ceiling. Huh. "Sex is exercise, isn't it?" he thought aloud, looking to Spike for confirmation.
