Dentists, Doctors, they'll all prescribe it, but honestly, I don't understand why. Maybe Doctors have an extremely low tolerance to pain.

Well, Bio... that could be for two reasons.

1) Doctors now get COMMISSIONS for the a-line drugs they prescribe. Yes, it's true. I'm not kidding.

2) At least here in the US, there aren't nearly enough Doctors or Nurses, so the Docs prescribe something very strong so that you don't come back and ask for something stronger, thus taking time away from someone else who possibly needs the care more than you.

Life lesson - If a Doc prescribes you Vicodin/Percocet/Oxycontn/Neurontin... any of those... Don't make your psyche miserable by taking them.

Case in point? I went to my University Health Center at 3am last year because my hip was hurting me verrry badly (For those of you who don't know, my hip has no fleshy / fatty cushion between the hip bone and socket. For 5 weeks I slept in an upright chair. No fun), and the NP (Nurse Practitioner for those of you who don't know) prescribed me 30 pills of Valium. VALIUM. They give that to people who have just gone through traumas so they can sleep! I was like '******** this', and I took a double dose of extra stregnth tylenol twice a day and Ibuprofen twice a day (in between the tylenol doses).

Healthcare is all over the place. Find a doctor whom you trust to do the right thing by you and not him/her self.

Besides, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. A little pain never did me wrong. Taught me how to deal with other things too.

You know, sometimes I think unlicensed doctors are more trustworthy.

My dentist is a friend of the family, he doesn't have an office, he does his work from his basement (where he does have all the proper equipment) and it only cost us $200 to do a whole mouth cleaning AND to put in 4 fillings, white kind, too. The good kind. And so what if he didn't numb me for the drilling, I sat there and aside from some wincing, I took it like a man.

I hate the Dentist... although at my last cleaning I got a good report, so I'm happy.

Best thing to do is buy a cheap 20.00 electric toothbrush. Gets the job done. Still gotta floss though, kids, hahaha.

Commissions for prescribing drugs? Christ, I better make it to med school.

Funny story, I got allergies in Mexico a few years ago. For 20 bucks I got a shot to get rid of my hives. Same day my mom went to a dentist for surgery at some low cost, not sure. They gave her filling and fixed her busted tooth. We have a lot of faith in crazy mexican doctors working in their own home now. Still little faith in the food.

Haha, Mexico is great. Prescription drugs are available at No Prescription necessary!

Hooray! 3nodding
Yeah I was pretty hesitant going to a doctor. I was surprised they were so professional, heh.

I love it because my family has so many different professions. My grandparents work with antiques and do estate sales so they can price things really well, and my grandma used to own a beauty salon so I don't have to go pay to get my hair cut. Then my cousin's also in beauty school so I let her style my hair when she comes up (she lives in South Carolina in the summer and goes to school in Hawaii). My uncle's a doctor and my other uncle's a psychiatrist. All we're missing is a dentist. And yes, we still do have our own doctor. We're not that cheap. xd

Well, Canas, by your families standards...

Mine is terribly boring.

Although my neighbors house DID get struck by lightning a few minutes ago.

Well, I don't see why your uncle just doesn't do the doctoring for your family? You can call me cheap all you want, if it means I'll have to pay less for health care, it's a deal.

Of course, I live in Canada, where health care is free, so I don't have to pay at all. Score!

Did it catch fire and burn? Some house near us did when it was struck by lightning... Btw, the opening ceremony to the Summer Olympics is on. It's pretty sweet, too. They had this light drum show as a countdown and it's neato. You should all check it out if you aren't already. 3nodding

I do believe that's a rerun, I've seen it earlier today... So like... Is Russia not competing this year? I didn't see them being called out...

Don't listen to Sarah Brightman sing. For the love of whatever deity you worship.

That was one hell of a night last night. So, I just got back from the hospital after a little car accident last night. Nothing too serious, but a drunk driver slammed into the right side of my truck. It didn't mess my truck up too much, but it will be in the shop for a few days. Had a few bruises on my shoulder and head, a few scrapes from when I got out of the truck. The real problem was a headache and that was it.
