Sazuka attempts to stop time, but J's tattoos are not mere ornaments. The enchantment on them allows his to break free of Sazuka's time stopping, but too late, for the flood waters have already trapped him. As he fights to break free, Sazuka merely causes the currents and flow of the water to push him to the middle. Within five minutes, J drowns.
