Not likely, actually. Not impossible.
There was actually a small (really, really small) chance that it would create a black hole which could actually destroy the world.
If I remember correctly, the project was delayed until, like, March because there was a hydrogen leak.

I don't think anyone cares to test it. An air tube would rip through the process and you'd die in the vacuum of space if you were to try. If you could get a spaceship that close.
