Mr. Kennedy
I loved FFIII on my DS, very difficult, never beat it. I haven't seen much Squarenix disasters lately.

Oh and about the MMO thing, I guess. Like the chinese kids who die playing the game or throw themselves off a building because of it. Let's hope we got more sense than that, heh.

No it's a bit different. It's one thing when an unstable kid does something crazy because of a video game.
It's completely different when a person simply gets psychologically addicted to a video game. And is a lot more common.
They didn't call Everquest "Evercrack" for no reason.

Ah yes. Let's hope we have more sense than that then. I understand it can be very easy to get sucked into these games but it's hard to believe that it is so common. Crazy stuff.

I was on the final dungeon for months because I was just wasting all my magic getting to Xande that I just died so I stopped playing for a while, frustrated. Then I levelled up a bit and a few months later (read: two days ago) wrecked him, then went through the final final area, tore it up there, and faced the Cloud of Darkness. That fight was so intense... and I loved the music. It's so good. razz But I did it and I was like "YESSSSS" xd

Now I can say I've beaten I-IV and X. razz Gotta get working on that again...

Yeah... I have no gotten anywhere close to that. At times I tried picking it up and grinding a bit to get past the dungeon I am stuck on but it gets real boring. sweatdrop

Well, it's not that common, statistically. But if you consider the numbers. I mean, if one in a thousand people gets hooked on WoW like crack, and ten million people play it, then 10,000 people are gonna let it take over their lives.

These are fake statistics, by the way, but you get the point.

I have FF III DS. Or at least I did. I was looking for it a while back and thought my husband still had it at work (I let him borrow it) but he cleaned out his desk drawers and found another game, but no III in sight.

I'm starting to fear it was accidentally thrown away when we were transferring apartments last December. crying

There was a box that was mainly filled with wrapping paper from Xmas and I didn't think anything important was put in to so I didn't think much of it when it got tossed before I was able to go through it. I'm sure a keychain I had bought my best friend as a Christmas present was accidentally in there (we had used the box to store our gifts we bought for people prior), and now I think I remember putting III in there just for a temporary place to store it.

I usually take the utmost care of my games too... sad

Aww, that sucks. Well, I guess it was a learning experience. Though I don't get that many gifts, and they're usually in bags, so I don't have a concept of having boxes with wrapping paper.

Yeah, and at least it wasn't a more personally valuable game...

Yeah. I suppose it could be worse. Plus it's not like the game is rare, right?
I mean if it had been like... The American version of Wesker's Report DVD that you lost.... THAT would be bad.

I don't have that. crying

But I do have a rare as in Tales of Destiny II (PS)... Very ******** hard game (the battle system is very like/hate) but the cooking side-mission is really interesting.

I don't really dabble in the Tales of... series. But pretty much any really good game for PS1 these days is a rarity. So yeah, don't lose that.

That's the only one I've played. I haven't really been into RPGs in recent years compared to when I was in school (they were a major escape for me at the time). I tried to give FF XII a shot, but it was too boring. I'm going to give XIII a try after seeing some interesting screens (mainly the nicely-designed summons), but I hate how there is no variety anymore in the character design. confused

Nomura, you ******** Jpop fanboy.

Yeah, I think RPGs have went way downhill in recent years. The only good ones are just remakes or ports of older RPGs, and that's not saying much. If a company has to resort to remaking their old games to keep around old fans, then you know they're going downhill.

Mistwalker is one of the last studios I have faith in. It's founder is the father of Final Fantasy, Hironobu Sakaguchi himself. I was very disappointed when he stopped working with Square Enix at first, but now I see his company as the spiritual successor to Squaresoft. 3nodding

I heard that his game Lost Odyssey was a lot like every other typical RPG these days, which doesn't bode well. But I'm sure it's not filled with J-Pop like FF games are these days.

Heck, as bad as Dirge of Cerberus was, the one thing that pushed it over the line of a bad sequel, into the territory of complete travesty was that not only did he use gackt on the soundtrack, but he went as far as to put that that daisy's face onto one of the characters, who's supposed to be equal to, if not more pore powerful of a villain than Sephiroth. That act alone, brought the entire FF7 series down to the level of X-2.

I'd recommend you give Lost Odyssey a shot. I thought it was pretty good. It doesn't hurt to rent. 3nodding

Hey X-2 isn't that bad! I could understand why some wouldn't think it's great (as it was purposely directed at the female fans), but it's not awful.

Dirge would've been a decent spin-off if it wasn't for the shitty controls, but I raged when I heard about who Genesis was!

What the flying ******** does a J-pop singer have to do with a Final Fantasy character?! I didn't mind J-pop being included with X-2 (it suited the theme), but FF7's spinoffs do not deserve that genre. Couldn't they go for rock like they did in X's opening???

Gackt has a good singing voice (at least in Malice Mizer), but I hate him as a person and don't care for his solo career. In television interviews, his face looks like it's melting.

I could continue to rant about him, but this isn't the right place.

X-2 might've been more decent if it was an original title. Because the change was virtually equivalent to what Resident Evil went through. It's like, you have this Summoner, who's this holy woman, in charge of saving the world... So how the hell does she go from that, to a pop singer who dual wields pistols!? gonk It's like they hired a new writing staff, and recapped the story of FFX to them without even mentioning who Yuna is.

It's Grill 13, you can rant about whatever you want.
I can't believe some people actually think Gackt is a sexy man. Michael Jackson has more sex appeal.

Oh, and yes, it would hurt to rent Lost Odyssey... Since I have no console to play it on. xd

Michael Jackson is definitely the worse one! Both have had plastic surgery (ALLEGEDLY LOL), but the negative effects have really shown on Jacko compared to Gackt. Jackson is just so...I have no words to describe it. Not just by looks, but by personality as well. Gackt is just a self-absorbed p***k.

Which side has the more freakish fans is beyond me...

As for your last comment:
