Haha, true.
Well, I'm definitely far more cat-like myself. XD;; Having dogs never changed that.
Huh, I go to Failblog like... every day since you've told me about it, and I haven't heard of him. XD;; I've probably seen him, just didn't think anything of it.
PostPosted: Wed Apr 14, 2010 9:29 pm

Yea...but what if you'd only had dogs? I'm not saying it would have changed your personality/values/etc...but who knows? What if you had only cats? Maybe you'd be even more cat-like?

Do you just stay on the fails tab or go to the celeb tab? Because that's where he is celeb fails. On Failblog I go to (a) the general - failblog.org (b) graphs - graphjam.com (c) comics - comixed.com (d) news - punditkitchen.com (e) celebs - roflrazzi.com

These are all part of failblog, and those are the 5 sections I like best and I check all of them. Sometimes I'll go on Engrish or something, but in general the majority of it isn't that funny so I don't bother keeping up with that. Roflrazzi is how I heard of Tokio Hotel too, haha, but while I do find a lot of the stuff funny I still like them. Unlike Bieber, or the Jonas Brothers, who cause me to shudder like crazy. JB isn't on there much anymore though, they've been replaced by Bieber, dun dun dun! Hehe.

Even if I go to roflrazzi right now, Bieber makes the first page, currently: http://roflrazzi.com/2010/04/13/celebrity-pictures-justin-bieber-gangsta/#comments

He's 16, he friggin looks 10 there! I mean I think even without hearing his music that's what just has me freaked. I mean, ugh, how can like even 13/14 year old girls like him, he looks like a 5th grader!

But yea, most of the best stuff is on the celeb tab (you can still go to failblog, and just hit the celeb tab, you don't have to memorize all the other websites, except I do just type in comixed myself because you have to go to All Sites for that and that's just one step to many, even though not really, haha. But yea all that connects to failblog), stuff like this: http://roflrazzi.com/upcoming/?pid=6733 and this: http://roflrazzi.com/2010/04/10/celebrity-pictures-ashley-tisdale-spartan-kick/#comments and this: http://roflrazzi.com/upcoming/?pid=45379

rofl

But yea, I wouldn't know about half the celebs I do if it wasn't for this, wanting to know why things are funny. For me the Jonas Brothers, Zac Efron and Justin Bieber all started on failblog! razz

Perhaps. XD I don't really dwell on what-ifs much though. I mean, what's the point? It didn't happen, and it can't now, so meh.
Ah, yeah, I only go on the main Failblog page. I was aware it had other areas it linked to; just never really checked them out, besides a bit of Comixed.
Don't think I'd care for the celeb one though. I didn't even really get any of the jokes you linked to. XD;; Except the Sparta one.
And wow, I thought that kid was ten as well. I was like, "Oh, didn't realize this Bieber was a kid."
PostPosted: Wed Apr 14, 2010 10:35 pm

I know, I don't either, at least not with things like this. I was just pondering for a moment. I'd really rather not be more dog-like, so I'm not wishing things had played out differently. I was mostly speculating on the influence animals/pets can have on our lives. Nature/nurture - another direction.

Well, they also have bigger celebs on there - Depp, Pitt, Tom Cruise, it varies. The jokes I linked just all had the theme of stars for the tweens. I mostly only know Efron via failblog myself, he's the kid from High School Musical but I don't really like those (and by don't like, I mean never even seen). The last was pretty obvious, you really managed to not hear about Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus? I mean aren't you bubbled, haha. Although actually she I don't really dislike, still think the jokes are funny though. I like a lot of the Twilight ones, they are hilarious. I'm waiting for the next Harry Potter movie to come out just to get more of those. In between movies you'll get a lot of Emma Watson still (and fashion faux pas on the others perhaps, like Daniel Radcliffe's toggle button suit), but I like the screen shot caps. Screen shot caps are usually my favorite anyhow. Those were just some of what was current front page, was too lazy to go dig for like amazing examples.

I think graphs is my other favorite. And a lot of them are college related.

He's not a kid, he's 16!!! SO CREEPY!!!

Of those three, I only know Depp. XD Like I've heard of Pitt and Cruise, but I couldn't put faces to names for them, or say any movies they were in. And I actually do know Hannah Montana at least. XD;; I really liked the Failbook site though after checking that out. I don't even have a Facebook and I found it hilarious anyway.

Really...really? I mean I can't say I'm the biggest Pitt or Cruise fan, though they each have a couple of random things I enjoy (Pitt - 12 Monkeys, which is awesome and stars Bruce Willis. Cruise - probably Interview with a Vampire, mostly b/c he's rather hot in it, and actually Pitt is in that too, being rather hot. Usually he's not my type but I do understand his huge heartthrob appeal even if it's not my personal taste). Still, they are SO friggin huge that I'm now thinking maybe you do live in a giant bubble. Especially Pitt, especially with having married Angelina Jolie and starting a child farm.

Yea I like failbook too, but it's just too much to go through.

Yes, really. XD;; I mostly only develop enough interest in actors who I really like their performance in something to find out who they are. Like I know Neil Patrick Harris, Johnny Depp, Heath Ledger, Dev Patel, and some others, but just because an actor is popular does not mean I know them. I don't watch those TV channels, I don't have friends who are into actors, I don't go to sites where they're talked about, and I don't read those kinds of magazines, so there really isn't much to influence me learning about actors besides watching movies, then deciding myself to research whoever played the role. Don't know who Bruce Willis or Angelina Jolie are either, though once again, I definitely know the names at least.
PostPosted: Sun Apr 18, 2010 11:31 pm

But they are everywhere!!! I mean unless you watch TV channels that don't even have commercials, read magazines that don't advertise anything, and avoid all websites without ads (which don't exist) you come across them. They'll even do cameos in movies and shows that are so not their genre, and shows like Family Guy, Simpsons, etc will stick these people into their show. I like some better than others true, and there are plenty of big names that I don't really ever see in anything - but I still know who they are. So yup, I'm convinced, you live in a vacuum bubble.

And well, you have to watch Inglorious Basterds, true it's a Brad Pitt movie, but it's SO amazing. So I'm just telling you that you'll have to give up on the not knowing anything about Brad Pitt so you can watch that movie.

And Dev Patel is NOT an A list name, hahahaha. Not even close, and I really don't see him ever getting there. He's been in 2 movies total (and not just that I heard up, I looked it up just now), and two TV shows (One as only an extra in one episode, and the other one is a British TV show, well duh he's English. But still, not everyone can be Hugh Laurie - actually it's that Skins show that I had been talking to Morgey about - and he was the one male character I said I didn't like, haha, only reason I know who he is. That and everyone complaining about how he's not attractive enough to be Zuko. I never saw Slumdog Millionaire).

Hugh Laurie is House, and if you've never heard of the show House, oye vie, you've GOT to get out of the bubble. I'm not telling you to watch House, just to have heard of it. razz

I have a DVR, so any TV I watch I almost always record, so I just skip commercials. And on the rare occasion when I just turn on the TV for the hell of it, I'm watching children's TV channels, so all of the commercials are about Sketchers and Gogurt. XD As for magazines, the *only* one I actually read is Nintendo Power, which only has video game ads. My websites generally have ads about MMOs and such, but I generally ignore ads anyway. I mean, if Bard Pitt or whoever is on one, the chances that I'm going to notice the ad to begin with are pretty slim, and almost non-existent that I'll bother reading the ad to put a name to his face. But if you still want to believe that I live in a vacuum bubble, fine, fine. XD I really think I'm just very selective on what I pay attention to though.
I actually have been wanting to see Inglorious Bastards (or is it actually Basterds?) just haven't got the chance. Regardless though, even if I love a movie, it's the actual performance of an actor that has to really stand out for me. So I may've even seen movies with Brad Pitt in them, but just not known who the actor was and didn't bother thinking more on it. I still wouldn't know anything about him if I watch the movie, besides that he was in the movie, which I already now know thanks to you. XD
Oh, I know Dev Patel is not A List. XD I was just listing actors that stood out to me enough to research; not necessarily popular ones. He is so attractive enough to be Zuko though! Er... well, no, he doesn't look like Zuko at all, but he's still attractive! XD;; And I think you'd love Slumdog Millionaire. It's like... one of my all-time favorite movies.
Yes, I've heard of House. XD I think I've even seen a few minutes of it, when my dad was watching it.

It's actually Inglourious Basterds, I didn't quite get the full on glory of it, hahaha.

And yea, I mean I don't always learn actors names unless they are - everywhere (I mean even billboards and stuff, it's just hard to have eyes, but then maybe it's because I live in California and they just don't advertise out there the way they do here) and/or I like them. Liking a character isn't enough to make me learn the actor. Although I do tend to learn more actors names these days. Cast is a more prominent feature in previews/trailers/credits etc. And I have a fantastic memory so things tend to stick once I learn them. I realize that before my lack of knowledge was just a lack of seeing mainstream things, my movie question is weird and eclectic.

But yea, I don't have Tivo or DVR or whatever, there are billboards everywhere, I read a lot of magazines - including a lot of animal/zoo/wildlife rescue type ones, and celebs are always doing charity work so they end up in there - and websites such as Facebook have general ads. Also, I watch some people on FB who'll draw real people (real smexy too) and generally if people are hot I want to find out who they are. This David guy draws a lot of Disney, but with things like POTC or whatever you get "real" people. Like this is awesome: http://davidkawena.deviantart.com/art/Disney-Heroes-Narnian-Kings-140050471. Can't say I ever cared for Peter, but no denying it's pretty amazing art. So yea, and then I do have eclectic friends, so some of them are very into celeb gossip and I'll hear it through them. I remember the days where I was like "huh, whose that? what?" But those are long since gone, I've been thoroughly corrupted and Americanized.

And sorry, I'm with my friends, I think Dev is totally fugly, hahaha. But as I have no attachment to Zuko/have only seen a handful of episodes of Avatar, on that score I don't care. I hear Slumdog is good but I also hear it's depressing, which is something I'm not exactly in the mood for with my movies lately.

Well the guy who plays House is Hugh Laurie and he's a brilliant and talented actor. A lot of failblog spoofs have to do with England saying, give him back and take this idiot you deposited here back! Or the US saying we'll return Hugh Laurie, but you have to take *insert talentless/psychotic/etc American actor here* as well.

Oh, I see. XD
Arizona's billboards generally advertise food places, the lottery, or products. I've only ever seen billboards advertising movies or actors outside of Arizona, and the only one I've seen that even comes close to advertising something akin to that here is... billboards for Left 4 Dead 2. XD I remember my friends and I were all excited to actually have a billboard advertising a game, especially one as good as Left 4 Dead. I also don't have the kind of memory that easily allows me to remember random faces and names flashed in my direction.
But yeah, I don't do any of those things that would lead to learning more about prominent actors. I do know who David is though; I believe the two of us have discussed him before. XD He's quite popular on Deviant Art, something I am savvy enough on to know the prominent users.
Awww, I think Dev is adorable, especially his little clueless stare that he does so well. <3 By the way, saw a pre screening of The Last Airbender, and I definitely think you should see it when it comes out. They didn't ruin it, and it was pretty damn good. It also adequately explains most of what you would need to know to understand the series.
PostPosted: Tue Apr 20, 2010 10:15 pm

Arizona is a strange little world. Haha. I have a pretty good memory for names in faces.

I've discussed David with several people, haha, so I try not to assume where he's come up before.

Well again, I planned on seeing it anyhow, maybe not in theaters because I'm not up to going alone and I can't think of anyone who wants to see it. However as I'm not too into the series (yet?) I am not worried about that. I mean even if it did "ruin" it, I would be seeing it before so it wouldn't be quite that effect. In retrospect I might think, "wtf," but I might be able to enjoy it in it's own right at the time. Part of why I've put off Avatar because I've known about the movie for almost 2 years now, so I'm waiting to see what that does first. Haha, weird, but this way I'm the least likely to be annoyed.

Eh, Dev doesn't do it for me, and I have severe dislike for his hair, hahaha. Also I know him best from Skins, and in that he's kind of a pervy creeper. Whose best friend is gay and he has a hard time dealing with this because well, Maxxie is going to hell ya know? So then he decides for awhile not to be friends. I know that's Anwar not Dev, but again, people tend to get associated to their characters for me when I know nothing else about them. I do rather love Jackson (Sokka I think is who he plays) though, although obviously never cared for Sokka's hair and definitely can't say I like what they've done to Jackson *sob*. At least he still has a pretty face.

Anyhow just got out of teaching my first water aerobics, didn't go too bad I suppose, but now to shower. So I'll get to the rest of the threads later! SO COLD!!

It is. XD And it's been so bipolar lately! Like normally by this time of year it's in the ninety's, but suddenly it's been cold and windy for the past couple days...
Yaaay, glad you'll see it anyway then! ^^ Lots of nice slashiness too... and I honestly have not met an anime fan who didn't get into Avatar after watching a bit of it (the series).
No worries; I get the same thing where I imagine actors to have the personalities of their characters. XD For me, I automatically see Dev as an awkward, quiet guy who gets into dazes a lot. That's how he was in Slumdog Millionaire, and even in The Last Airbender I kind of changed the way I saw Zuko to more fit that. Jackson was also in Twilight, right? If so, then yes, that's Sokka. He was actually... the fugliest character in the movie in my opinion, and his acting was atrocious... emo Yeah, sadly, one of my favorite characters in the show was one of the worst in the movie. And his ponytail and outfit were soooo ugly! He looked like a stereotypical Texan kid, except metrosexual! I'm not talking the furs he wears in the preview, but once they go to a warmer climate and he takes the coats off... ugh... I know he doesn't have the best hairstyle in the series, but at least it looked better than that!
PostPosted: Thu Apr 22, 2010 11:37 pm

Yea, here too. It's been cold and kind of rainy a bit, though I certainly don't mind considering I abhor heat, hehe.

That's good, I'll try and find someone who wants to see it then and maybe go see it in theaters. Maybe. I only saw a few episodes really, and quite spaced out. I didn't dislike it but it didn't suck me in and was not a convenient thing for me to hunt down. Most shows that I've gotten into where in convenient time slots, on stations that were easy to watch. Inuyasha, FMA, YGO. And when things moved, unless I was really motivated and sucked in (FMA, YGO are rare cases here), I did not follow the show around. So there are many things I mean to finish (Inuyasha - which I hear is finally getting a conclusive end since the manga just finished, that might be nice, YYH) but it just wasn't convenient for me. Avatar would probably go in there. Of course then there are the things I just lost interest in (DBZ - I started getting confused, Pokemon - the cast changes were getting to be too great for me, etc).

Avatar I never saw enough to even get to a stage where I'd consider following it around. But yea, chasing something is usually how I realize I'm addicted. I don't really ever notice that I am, until I realize I'm moving my life, recording something, looking for it in stores, etc. I mean YGO I just started watching because it was on after Pokemon, and then when swim started up and my schedule conflicted I stopped watching Pokemon. However I started recording YGO. That was my indicator that I had somehow gotten into the show without even realizing it. I kinda like that though, it's fun.

No I know he's Sokka (I was blanking on the character name, not on who he was), and yea he's in Twilight. Well again, a lot of anime hairstyles do not translate well onto real people, especially when they go for realistic looking hair and not crazy wigs. And yea, I already said I was afraid of that because he looked unattractive in the preview. Though, he looks unattractive in a lot of things - like Twilight. He looks so much better as himself, in real life. And he also seems like kind of a goofy person in real life, so I don't really think he'd be well cast to dramatic films. Even if Sokka has a lighter/silly side, the setup is just not to what I think he'd be good at. Whatever. Although you probably can't blame hair and wardrobe on him, actors, especially non-A list actors, don't get much say in what gets done to their outsides. *smirk*

I like having cooler weather this time of year, but I am not at all fond of the wind.
Oh, Avatar is also that show that gets better as it goes along. Like if you saw some of the early episodes, I could see you not getting too into it, but the later episodes are amazingly better. I kind of more just decide if I get really into something or not. XD;; It's definitely a conscious decision for me if I like something enough to see all the episodes, and I'll put forth the effort to see all of them whether it's easy or not.
See, Sokka's hair in the movie probably won't have looked so bad if they had actually just made it shorter... like in the series, he just has a little tuft of hair coming off the top in a small 'wolf tail,' and it's one of the few hairstyles in that show that you could probably easily transfer to real life. But in the movie they made it waaaay longer, so it's like... the same style, except it looks like an actual ponytail, which Sokka specifically makes fun of in the show. (he says he has a warrior's wolf tail, which is superior to Zuko's ponytail) So it just makes him look like one of those Texan girls who always have their hair back.
Not to mention Sokka actually *is* one of the most light/silly characters in the show, and I could see that setup working well for his actor in the movie, as you said it suits him, but he just... he wasn't that funny in the movie. He didn't talk much, he rarely smiled, he only was involved in a couple of funny parts, and he was overall just boring and uninteresting. Sokka is the comic relief in the show, and it suits him well. There was hardly anything to him in the movie.
