He smiled as he leaned closer to her. "I think I recall you telling me there were better uses for my tongue... And I think you were going to show me just what they were." he teased as the started across the bridge.

Saiya tilted her chin defiantly. "I don't kiss liars." She said as she started walking over as well.

Kai sighed as he let his face show how sad he was for a second before glancing away so Saiya wouldn't see. He had hoped it would be easy to go back to how it was... He had hoped, but it didn't seem to be.

Saiya bit her lip, feeling guilty now. She reached for him, but her reach became a grab as hands closed around her waist, neck and mouth from beneath the bridge. She fisted her hand in the little bit of his cloak she had managed to grab as she was hauled over the railing.

Feeling her grip tighten, Kai had spun to see Saiya being hauled over the railing. "NO!" he screamed, leaping over the railing. Reaching for her hand he hoped to whatever gods there were that she remained safe.

What ever had her hit the water and dragged her under, Kai's cloak was cut as they hit the water. Saiya kicked and struggled, the hit with the water had jarred her out of her surprise and into action. The thing was sinking and sinking fast and it was taking her with it, placing itself between her and Kai. Saiya was disoriented already, not sure which way was up. The only thing she was sure of was that she had to get out of this things hold before she drown. The piece of Kai's cloak was still clutched in her one hand as she struggled, but she was wasting alot of her short supply of oxygen trying to get loose.

Hitting the water Kai kicked hard as he struggled to reach Saiya. He couldn't lose. He wouldn't lose her. Think! Think! ... ... My cloak. She has a piece of my cloak. Focusing his mind he looked for it. THERE! A bead of blue magic in the water. Swimming hard he sped toward that spot. Hold on Saiya...

Saiya managed to pull one of her daggers and quickly drove it in to the wrist of the hand around her waist, dragging it up it's arm. There was an awful shreiking sound in the water as the thing thrashed around and released her, shoving her towards the bottom. She hit the bottom, sediment clouding the bottom with her impact. Saiya almost lashed out at the arm that reached through the confusion for her. At the last minute she realized it was Riu who was holding a hand out for her.
Saiya reached for Riu's hand just as the thing flailed into her chest, knocking the little breath she had out of her. Riu's hand closed over hers just as Saiya's vision was starting to fade to black.

Kai was swimming as fast as he could that he almost ran into Riu as she tried to pull Saiya to the surface. Turning just as something caught his eye, he to one side of Saiya and shot towards the surface with Riu. Breaking the water Kai wrapped his arms around her as he tried to wake her up. "Saiya... Saiya you can't leave me now... Not like this..."

Riu rolled her eyes at Kia and put a hand on Saiya's chest. The girl gagged and coughed till the water came out and back into the river. Gasping and coughing Saiya opened her eyes only long enough to see she was with Kai before resting her head against his shoulder and closing her eyes again as she gulped in air. Riu motioned to the bank.

Nodding his gratitude, Kai made sure to keep a firm hold on Saiya as he headed towards shore. Finally reaching water shallow enough to walk in, he scooped her up and wadded the rest of the way to shore. "I'm sorry I couldn't protect you..." he whispered.

Saiya just groaned and wrapped her arms around his neck. Her right hand still clutching the piece of his cloak. "Cold." She muttered as she shivered in his arms and tried to cuddle closer to him.

Kai wrapped his cloak tightly around the both of them as he clung to her. He had been afraid he'd lost her... "Don't worry, you'll be sitting next to a roaring fireplace in no time."

Saiya nodded against his shoulder. "Ok." She muttered sleepily. "Can I take a nap?" She had yet to open her eyes again and she was still shivering against him, her skin icy cold.

A chuckle resounded deep with in his chest as he hugged her. "Yes, you can take a nap. But no drooling." he stated, turning to walk back across the bridge toward the town's gate.
