Diner

[Mayah Playah]

Arwen tapped her chin, then brightened. "Taco."

Erik hung his head and sighed, "Close enough, I suppose." He stretched his arms around her and set the napkin on the table, trying to his best of his abilities to sketch her with a crayon and a soft surface. Honestly, what was so appealing about tacos? He didn't like them. Then again, he didn't like much Mexican food...

Arwen giggled as she watched him draw her. "You know, Mummy can't draw. I draw better than she does, and I'm five."

"Everyone has their own talent." He finished sketching the head and the hair.

"I can bake," she said suddenly. "Mummy burns water and Daddy can only cook when he's that strange blond man, but I can do it."

"My my, you've just got an abundance of talents, don't you?" he smiled softly as he finished the outline of the face.

She giggled. "I can't dance, though. Uncle Dom says I dance like a dying cat and I sing like one too."

"I doubt that. He's probably just jealous." He added his signature to the bottom corner of the napkin and handed the tiny portrait to her. "You gave me a lot to work with, so my apologies if it's bad."

She squealed in delight. "It looks great, I love it!" She hugged him tightly, smiling. "Thank you, Erik."

He was a bit surprised at how she took it. It wasn't his best work, might've actually been one of his worst, and yet... "I... You're welcome." he said, still surprised.

Grabbing another napkin and a blue crayon, Arwen started drawing. "I'm gonna draw you now, okay?"

"Go for it." Erik smiled softly and glanced to the side when a waitress handed him a glass of water. By the look of how wide her eyes were, she thought this was adorable. He sighed and brought the glass to his lips. It probably was.

Soon enough, Arwen threw her crayons down and showed Erik her drawing. "Look! That's you, and that's Charlie. He's a kitty that'll keep you company when I can't." Gazing up at him with eyes the size of saucers, the little girl highest close to her body. "Do you like it?"

Erik took the napkin and stared at it for a moment with an expressionless face. Well it certainly was.... Uh.... "It looks just like me." Erik said softly and smiled down at Arwen. "I married quite the artist." Married. Such a strange thing to say now.

"Really?" she said, brightening. "Oh yay! No one ever likes my drawings! Mr. Saunders used to crumple them up and say 'girls are only good for three thing, and since you can't cook or clean, then you're only good for one!' I still don't get it, but yay, you like it!"
