It's a little late, no? I mean, at this point, wouldn't a PS3 make more sense?

Definitely too late...But this is just to tide me over 'til I eventually get a PS3...If I did get a PS3 now, I wouldn't really be concentrating on the games I never got the chance to play; rather, I would concentrate on the new games that just came out, such as Assassin's Creed, Resistance I and II, MGS4, ect., Plus, I don't have that much saved up yet, so...And since a used PS2 is only 40 buckaroonis at a pawn shop near me, why not? I mean, what's the worst that can happen when buying from a pawn shop? And dammit, why should a final fantasy fan be denied his due at X and XII for 8 YEARS?!?!? It's damn time.

I've been denied FF7 too. D: Yes, that's right: I haven't played it all the way through yet.

Mjolnir The Hammer I agree good sir. I've been denied FF7 too. D: Yes, that's right: I haven't played it all the way through yet. Too bad you'll have to fork out major cash for a copy now thanks to fanboys. Hell, I bought my copy when I was 14 new for $20. It was the easiest PS1 FF to find back then! Just wait a bit and the price will lower once the fanboys ******** grow up. It's ridiculous. The story is good, but it's not ******** amazing to where someone should pay $70 for a used copy! mad I was fine with Advent Children, but the spin off games were unneeded and have to stop. 10 years ago, Square used to be such a respectable developer, that experimented with many genres. Now they're turned into a rehash factory with one of the worst fanbases next to Halo fans. sad Mjolnir, I forgot to tell you earlier that those were Hot Fuzz cosplayers in that merchant pic. smile

All FF7 spinoffs were bad. They ruined FF7's storyline... Dare I say it? Worse than Capcom ruined Resident Evil. Square has nothing to offer these days. Absolutely nothing. And that's why I'm very weary about the new Parasite Eve game. I'll need a whole lot of convincing before I bother exposing my brain to it. But if Square does the unimaginable and actually brings back the control scheme from Parasite Eve 2, I'll gain a whole bunch of new respect for them. EDIT: And speaking of Assassin's Creed and Cosplays. Tell me this isn't the coolest cosplay you've ever seen: http://fc31.deviantart.com/fs24/f/2007/310/e/2/Assassin__s_Creed___Altair_by_darksidecry.jpg

@Angela: Yeah I know; curse those fanboys. T^T Luckily, my friend would let me borrow it any chance I get to play it. So it's on my list of to-do's. :3 The spin-off games... Well, I honestly can't say anything about Crisis Core yet, since I haven't even finished FF7. I CAN, however, assert that Dirge of Cerberus is stupid enough to avoid completely. lol
And I didn't even realize that those guys were the people from Hot Fuzz: that movie is freakin' hilarious. mrgreen
@Bio: Again, the story for FF7: Crisis Core is in debate. Since I haven't played it, I can't really say that it messed it up; especially since it's a prequel. Hopefully it dodges that bullet completely. lol
Edit: I rather enjoyed the Assassin's Creed cosplay. Thanks for the link.

See, you're almost onto something. The best thing to do with FF7 spinoffs is to dodge those bullets. Even if it was half decent, the whole fact that they gave FF7 voice overs and updated the character designs to "that". I mean, in his FF7 Anime form, Sephiroth might've had long hair, but his face at least looked Animenly. The way they've been depicting the characters since Advent Children, virtually every man looks like a girl. FF7 should've at least stayed where it belongs, in Anime. Not this weird blend of anime and realism which makes all the characters look DEAD. They might be well modeled, but they're very poorly designed.

I personally like Advent Children, if at least for the action sequences. Once again, it's all about the action (gameplay ha ha) rather then the story for me. Now, my favorite thing about Final Fantasy VII was how they built the story around Midgar for 6-7 hours...That was so cool, exploring the city and what not.
Well, I've always been more of a FFVIII fan myself, so...Nonetheless, once I get the PS2, I will still be getting Dirge, even though I know it will (Or IS) horrible. Need to experience pain once to at least know to avoid it from now on.
And Hot Fuzz is indeed hilarious, as well as Shaun of the Dead. I'd wish the trio would get back together to make another flick, this time spoofing (or rather praising) sci-fi flicks or something.
Just a random tidbit: My Avatar name was created based upon the events that happen in FFVII when Cloud is in his comatose state (The events that go on in his head, that is) and also based upon events that happen in Midgar, as well...Just thought I'd share that, since we're on the topic of Square and FF...

FF7 is an RPG... If an RPG is all about gameplay, there's no reason to play the RPG. Half the reason why RPGs are... (WERE) awesome, was because of the storylines. An RPG with a bad storyline is a bad video game.
Yes, certain movies you watch for the action. But when you make a movie as a sequel to an RPG video game, it should've been more about storyline than anything. And maybe that's the problem, they decided to make it about action and set it around a god awful storyline. Not only that, but like I said, when this godawful storyline is supposed to be a part of the canon of a good storyline. I mean, this was a movie which talks about what happened after Final Fantasy 7. Now, I don't want to overstress the importance of it, but every single person who ever played and loved FF7 had their own idea of what happened after FF7, they speculated, wrote fan fiction, even made RPGs about it. And I've played countless. So as much as I say, Square should've done justice to the storyline of the sequel... I don't think it was possible for Square to do justice to it. The only way they could've done justice to FF7 was by leaving it the hell alone. Final Fantasy 7 should never have had any sequels or prequels. And I'm sorry, but anyone who says that Advent Children was a good movie, or Dirge of Cerberus was a good game, is a fanboy.

I liked AC, but not for the story. Of course I don't consider it canon. Am I still a fanboy? >_> I finally beat it though a week or two ago. razz

Well, I don't see why you'd bother watching it. I mean, you want good action, there's tons of movies out there. The Matrix, Terminator, all those Super Hero movies. Heck, if you wanna see a Japanese 3D movie with good action, watch Appleseed or something.

Well, it's the same thing as watching Advent Children for the action. But I guess if you don't care that much for FF7, then it's fine. I mean, it used to be my favorite RPG.
