Chikorita can't be good for the playthrough, since it only ever gets grass or normal type moves (with the exception of Hidden Power or Natural Gift). However, you can breed Leech Seed and Ingrain onto it, and crank its defenses. It can be a formidable Toxic wall. Also, I want to take on your RD team once I finish with the breeding that I'm working on... Bwahaha.

My style of team-making is more about exploitation of type weaknesses.
I gather a team of various Pokemon types, and I vary their move set as much as possible so I can counter a variety of Pokemon types. I work on their stats a little and that's that.
It's always worked for me.

I've found that building for endurance can often win out over type effectiveness. There's a bunch of pokémon that can learn a Fight/Ghost move duo (unresisted) along with a couple solid support moves.

For Pokemon, I never have 2 of the same type of pokemon on my team. Usually its Water, Elec, Fly, Ground, Normal, and HM Slave. That, and I never seem to use strategy, I would just go in and beat the s**t outta them. I never relied with Rain Dance, Sunny Day, Sand Attack or anything like that. All my pokemon were 47 when I went against the Elite 4 in Pearl, and I won.

Spoilers from a guy that has played the game in Engrish, most are highlighted. Highlight for more.
The gyms have been revamped.
Your pokemon follows you around, until it faints, then the next one follows you.
No new pokemon are in the gyms as far as I have gone. (til jasmine)
The girl, Kotone, is retarded looking. Gold has been awesomely revamped.
Red is mentioned all the time.
Berries aren't around unless you trade.
Cyndaquill still kicks a**.
Random towns have been revamped.

Also, I don't pay attention to tournament rules, so I may or may not have some illegal moves or Pokemanz. That ok?

I'll bet it's worth it. Hence why I put it in white. stare To respect those that don't wanna see it. I wonder what levels are really like in terms of the pokemon world. I mean level 40 in Hoenn is good enough to be Elite four...
