Alex turned away back to his own private study, he need to think and take in all he had seen and all that happened. It felt like it was too much over one day ... way too much

Bella sighed as she entered her room. She picked up her bag and headed to the bed with it. "Why couldn't I remember something as important as being married until now?" she asked softly as she started looking through her stuff. She blinked as she found an envelope that was sealed and adressed to her. She smiled. "They didn't have to give me a letter . . ." she murmured softly, feeling a little embarrassed. However, when she opened it, she got a surprise as an intricate ring fell out of the envelope. She blinked in confusion and set the ring aside before she took out the letter and began reading.

Dear Bella,
We found this ring on you when you washed up. We took it so that you wouldn't be burdened by the knowledge that you were either married or engaged. Yes, it was on your ring finger. Please forgive us for keeping this a secret from you, we thought we were doing the best thing we could for you. We hope you find your husband, or intended whomever he may be. Judging by the quality of the ring, he must be quite wealthy to afford it. Don't forget the ones you call 'grandmother' and 'grandfather' on your quest to find yourself. Be safe!

Bella didn't need to read the signature to know who it was from, she was in shock, again! She picked up the ring and slid it onto her left ring finger. It was an odd feeling. She wasn't used to having such weight there. "I wonder who gave this to me . . ." she murmured softly as she gently traced the gems on the ring.

Alex reached his study and slowly placed his hands on the fine oak and heaved as he started to push against the heavy double doors. Slowly and surely he opened it enough for himself to get through, it was also a good way to get rid of all the regerts and anger building up inside of him. Once inside the room he pushed the doors shut again and slumped to regain his breath. Once regained he walked over to the desk and unlocked. He dived his hand and grabbed the first thing he felt, pulling it out ... it was a picture ... made not that long after he proposed to his one and only

Bella put things away, but she kept the ring on her finger, figuring that if she was engaged or married, that it belonged there. She could only hope that the person who had proposed to her hadn't moved on and found someone else, even if she couldn't remember that person . . .

Alex fingered the outline of the people standing there, a smile on Alex's face in the picture. Yet now there was no smile, just an ever ending sadness that echoed deep into his soul. Her death had ... shattered him from the inside out ... and he didn't know how to move forwards, it was almost like he wanted to be stuck in the past

Bella sighed as she finished putting away the last thing, a piece of driftwood that she had thought looked pretty, so she had taken it home with her. It now lay on the bedside table as Bella flopped onto the bed, laying there and just relaxing. She loved the sea . . . though she wondered what had caused her to wash up on shore in the first place. She was so curious as to what hidden memories were locked away in her head . . . she had no idea . . .

Alex gently placed the picture on the table and lay down on the long couch, staring at it. He was spread full out, his head resting against a cushion propped at one end. His arm hung from the couch, touching the floor. Slowly and surely Alex started to drift off into the memories of yestersday

The day passed into the afternoon, and the afternoon into evening and Bella walked up to the door of the study dressed in an evening gown for the servants. She knocked twice. "Your Highness? Dinner is served, I was told to come get you." she called, trying to remain polite.

Alex turned over and looked at the door, his eyes almost locked on it. He sighed and rolled over on the couch, before walking over to the door of the study. Slowly he opend the door and looked at her "Alright thank you" he said smiling at her. He didn't feel like eating but he knew he must. Slowly he closed the doors behind him and looked at Bella again "where is the meal tonight do you know?"

Bella frowned a little in thought. "I think they said the main dining hall . . ." she murmured softly, trying to remember.

Alexander nodded, his eyes staring ahead at the long hall "lets go then" he said as he started off towards the dining hall "I won't punish you if it is wrong" he said as he walked away

Bella stiffened a little at the word, 'punish'. It didn't make her feel comfortable to hear it even if he said he wouldn't punish her. It just made her more aware that she could be punished. She sighed as she followed after him.

Alexander sighed when he saw her stiffen and shook his head. He walked on to the dining room and peeked in, indeed the family were there and sitting ready. Boy, he hated these meals ... He walked slowly up to his family and bowed his head towards his father and mother before sitting down on a chair nearby

Bella hesitated outside the dining hall, unsure of whether she was supposed to eat there or somewhere else. She never really was told the whole deal.

Alexander looked back through the door and instead of embrassing Bella by calling out, he waved to her mouthing "come in." He then nodded at the chair next to him "yours" he mouthed again
