Seto barely restrained himself from shoving Jounouchi, who he felt was moving far to slowly. Still, he probably couldn't have gotten out of the elevator on his own, the least he could do was show a little patience. Even if the elevator did collapse now, it's not like he couldn't hop onto the ladder at an alternative point. They were halfway up to the thirteenth floor doors when a deafening snap had them both looking behind them. Within seconds the cage was clattering wildly down the tunnel, whistling shrilly for about half a minute before colliding with the ground floor. Seto found himself momentarily frozen, paralyzed with the cold fear that had they taken any longer he would most certainly be dead, completely unrecognizable amongst the crushed and twisted debris. He debated climbing downwards instead, yet looking up he noted that had Jounouchi felt the need to pause he'd already recovered and proceeded upward, and thus he scrambled quickly after him.
The pair had never been in any real danger, the game had only just begun, he wasn't about to end it already. He trapped and shook them to invoke panic, and dropped the metal box when they were both clearly safe to further the terror. It's not as if they were aware there had been nothing to fear, so they couldn't help but assume they'd only narrowly escaped death, for now.

Jounouchi had frozen in shock as well when he heard the elevator fall. That was... absolutely terrifying. He quickly shook his head, proceeding up the ladder even faster now, wanting to escape that possibility of falling. The elevator had shown that that was not a fun-looking option. Finally, the entrance to the thirteenth floor... Jounouchi felt himself sigh in relief as it neared. Just a few more steps now... he continued climbing, making it into the opening, happily getting to the end of the ladder and standing up on solid ground.

Seto climbed up behind Jounouchi moments later, locating the lever and opening the doors - which luckily worked right away. Stepping out onto the landing he tried to remember what offices and projects were currently located on this floor. Unable to think of anything useful, he made his way down the hall towards the lobby. If there was one thing about his building he could appreciate, it was the fact that each floor had it's own seating area. Eventually the plan would probably have to be climb back down the shaft (or take another elevator - ha!), but first he needed a moment to sit down and regain some semblance of control and composure. Perhaps they would get lucky and someone out there would have heard the commotion the elevator made. If the authorities had to break down the front doors so be it, for the first time in a long time Seto desperately wanted to be anywhere but at work.

"Maaaaan, am I glad that's over!" Jounouchi stretched his arms up in the air, walking behind Kaiba. He didn't really care at this point where they were going now. The immediate threats of a crashing elevator and a fainting Kaiba seemed gone now, so he could relax. He could live with being stuck in this building for a while, as long as no more crazy s**t was going to happen. And so he just followed the CEO, trusting him to know the layout of the halls, where to go next, and what to do when there. He didn't even bother satiating his curiosity by asking where they were heading, instead choosing to concentrate on breathing the sweet air of... not being in an elevator. There was probably a deeper, more philosophical way to describe that, but Jounouchi sure as hell didn't know what that was.

"How the hell can you be so calm? Are near death experiences just a common occurrence in your life or are you just that dim?" Seto snapped, immediately regretting it. For once he really didn't want a fight, but he was unbearably tense and having such a relaxed companion did nothing to ease matters. Entering the lobby and sinking down into one of the armchairs (which thankfully were much more comfortable than the ones in the imposing main lobby), he awaited the angry retort that was sure to come.

Sure enough, Jounouchi seemed to be quite offended by that remark, "Well what the hell is the point of panicking from something like that?!" the blond retorted, "What, do you think having a heart attack would've magically gotten us out of that elevator?" he huffed to himself, crossing his arms and looking off to the side, "When you're dealing with gangs and stuff, that kind of thing happens sometimes, near-death experiences. The ones who panic are the ones who don't survive."

"Guess that's why I didn't join a gang then, well that and the whole moral decency and literacy thing," Seto snapped back. Damn, he couldn't just let it go, even when he didn't want to get into a fight he seemed unable to control himself. It's perhaps what he hated most about the stupid dog, he always brought this ridiculous amount of energy - what some insane people might actually call passion - out of him. At least arguing did distract from both anxiety and confusion, and not like he had anything better to do quite yet. Remaining seated, Seto turned his attention to his fingernails, as if they were the most fascinating things he'd ever seen. The only thing that ever seemed to rile Jounouchi up more than insults was being ignored. Perverse as it was, he decided he wanted him piqued, anger was always the least awkward emotion to deal with.

Jounouchi grit his teeth together, not looking at all happy with that statement, "Hey, there's a lot more to gang life besides what people think there is!!" he huffed, stepping forward, "Plus, I quit anyway, so don't think I'm a bad person or nothing! You're way worse than me, what with your stealing cards and forcing people to duel you, and that Death T game!"

Seto laughed, and not his usual deranged cackled, but actual genuine laughter. His defenses were obviously much too low if he could so easily be subjected to this kind of merriment, even with his own brother he never felt quite this comfortable.
"It's always the same things isn't it? I mean the way you people act it's like I have this whole host of evil deeds, yet you still manage to throw out the same handful of grievances every time. And I just have to say, I never stole anything. I won that card fair and...ok, maybe not fair, but I won it just the same. I still don't think offenses related to gaming are anywhere near as bad as criminal acts and whatnot. Besides, you're the one who threw out the gang reference as some sort of credential for your actions."
Deciding his speech wasn't quite as authoritative and demeaning as he meant it he stood up and sauntered within inches of Jounouchi's personal space. Jabbing a finger into Jounouchi's chest he continued, "if stealing and harming people makes me a bad person then you're just as guilty idiot mutt, and don't make the excuse that you didn't have any other choice, that's really too pathetic even for the likes of you." He sneered downwards, glad his mirth was back to it's usual cruel and intimidating style. This was his comfort zone.

"What was that, you a*****e?!" Jounouchi huffed, looking down at the finger pointing at his chest, slapping that hand away angrily, "Hell, at least I'm making up for what I've done! Unlike you, who's still the same, selfish jerk you've always been!! I don't make excuses for my past! I just live every day to the fullest, trying to make up for it!" he grit his teeth. He couldn't believe this guy! After all the trouble he went through to drag him here, make sure he was okay, help him out of the Elevator of Death (which is what Jounouchi had decided to call it from now on)...! This was how he showed appreciation?!

"Make up for it? Exactly how are you doing that? Oh yes, you befriended one of the kids you used to torture, of course you deserve a medal for that I'm sure!" Kaiba scoffed. He knew he was being a jerk, he knew he should cool it, he knew at least at this moment he owed Jounouchi better than this. And, if he were anyone other than Kaiba Seto, of course he would stop right here. He'd even apologize. Unfortunately, that just wasn't in the cards. "Besides," he added, flicking Jounouchi's shoulder sharply, "when was the last time I built any sort of Death contraptions? That was one time ok, so you can't insinuate that I’m up to the same old tricks either. My efforts have been spent bettering the gaming industry, to the delight of millions of people. What do you have that’s more worth while? I'll tell you what, not a damn thing.” Smirking he turned around, as if to signify he was done with the conversation and done with Jounouchi.

Jounouchi clenched his fists together, grinding his teeth together as a light growling noise escaped his mouth, "...you're gonna regret saying those words, you b*****d!!!" he suddenly ran after Kaiba, aiming a kick right at his back. No one was here to hold him back this time, and he was going to make the most of it. Kaiba wasn't going to get away with his words this time!

Seto heard Jounouchi rush after him, and while he'd been threatened with fists before, the other man had never aimed a kick at him, so he wasn't exactly prepared to defend against that. He turned in time to take the brunt of a well placed kick straight into the middle of his ribcage. Shocked, he fell backward, his head slamming against an end table. The room spun, and the pain was agonizing, but at least he knew the cause of yet another dizzy spell in one evening. So while he was stunned, and a bit flustered, he wasn't all that concerned about this unforeseen turn of events. Though he was in no hurry to move or speak, even he wasn't enough of a jerk to not realize that he'd probably gone way too far, and chances were that even flat on his back he'd have a hard time saying something that wasn't overtly insulting.

Jounouchi seemed satisfied that he had managed to land his kick, not going forward to attack Kaiba anymore. He just crossed his arms where he stood, glaring down at the man, "...******** helping you anymore, I'm out of here." he turned, suddenly heading off in a random direction, not actually sure where he was going, "Hope you don't pass out again!" he called over his shoulder tauntingly.

Seto started chuckling to himself again as soon as Jounouchi was presumably out of earshot. The pain subsided quickly enough, natural discomfort often did. He felt a stab of something that might have been guilt, he didn't entertain the emotion often enough to know for sure, and he wasn't about to do anything about it. He wasn't apologizing, he'd be more likely to thank Jounouchi for helping him out earlier than to do that. I mean his words may have been harsh, and their delivery unnecessarily cruel, but they were at least true enough.
Laying back down on the floor, Seto closed his eyes. He could rest here just as well as he could elsewhere. "Spoiled rich brat," or whatever else they called him, he in some ways was still the invisible orphan at heart. Luxury wasn't actually a necessary component of his comfort, that was all just image. He'd wait until Jounouchi cooled off or disappeared all together before prowling around himself.
