((As far as I can tell, he's alive, still on the field, but disqualified/has lost/whatever. But I don't think we the characters know that? Since no one has now shown up and informed us? *scratches head* I would guess you can go on and post in reply to Rini's (edited again back to the original) post? *shrugs* I have no clue at this point. Let's just run with it?))

(OOC: Alright, Tavian, because the scenario with Raito didn't happen, I'm going to assume that Tavian passed out anyways and take that as a sign he lost. As for the no-killing rule. Well, unless some random speakers pop up, I don't think either Rini or Kageko would know about it at the moment, right?)

Kageko politely waited for Rini to finish talking. Then, just as she was about to respond herself, the girl felt Tavian's body go limp. Her clone chanced a glance down, being unaffected by the original's fear of blood and quickly picked Tavian up. To make the act natural, the girl stood up as the clone picked her friend up and then rushed down the tower with him on its back. She began her response, "Actually, if you want to know what happened, Tavian did come to attack me. He only listened to me because I had his sword trapped and managed to get his attention before he pulled off some high speed movement and he only agreed with me because I reasoned a good point. As for us attacking you two-on-one. I admit and I apologize, Tavian is my friend so I'm naturally biased towards him. However, I did try my best to be fair and he himself threatened to attack me with all he had before this fight started. I didn't attack you when Tavian had you targeted and the one time that I did attack was in retaliation. If he had been the one to launch a weapon at me and not you in such a scenario, I would have responded in the same way. Lastly, yes I would have blamed you if this was a kunai trap. Regardless of what method you use to take down an opponent in a fight that allowed no killing the last time I checked, you have to make sure that the trap isn't deadly."

As she talked, Kageko unsheathed her katana and held it in front of her with her right hand, her right side facing Rini. Her left arm was brought up and over her chest, the hand hovering over the umbrella belted onto her right side. "By the way," the girl brought up her own question in a calm, even tone, "Tavian was saying something about you being immortal? I'm going to take that to mean you can't die no matter how much you're damaged? Tell me, how are we going to judge this fight with your condition? Will I be able to win if I can just trap you in a position that would surely mean death for most people if I chose to continue or will I have to force you to submit with more extreme measures, such as preventing you from moving at all?". As for the seal, well, Kageko had numerous questions about it. However, she didn't bother asking Rini. The girl doubted that her opponent would tell her anything about how to destroy the seal. Besides, there were more pressing matters, like the blood. If not for the calming presence of her angel, Kageko would surely not be able to maintain the perfect façade she was keeping up. Well, that and the facts that Rini's blood had already clotted so it wasn't streaming down and Kageko was mainly focusing on the other's kunochi's face.

Rini's eyes followed the clone until it left her line of sight and heaved a sigh. "I'll take that as a 'no', then," she mumbled under her breath, shifting her attention down to her injuries. As Kageko spoke, she stabbed one stake into the ground beside her and spun the other through her fingers for a moment before digging the tip first into her left palm and then her right. With the ritual going, Tavian would feel the same pain, still, but she did not care about that anymore. Her offer had been rejected, so she no longer held any regard for his survival. They could not say that she did not try to save him. The second stake followed the first -- at her other side -- as fresh blood pooled in her hands -- blood laced with chakra. "I don't see why," she idly countered Kageko's statement about the trap. "Any enemy jounin on the field isn't going to have the same consideration. There are no rules that can truly bind a shinobi. We kill. It is our nature. Why should we fight what we are?" It was a rhetorical question, of course -- one asked faintly and with almost a hint of it being directed at herself instead of Kageko.

The High Priestess shrugged, watching her opponent draw her weapon. Oddly enough, her blood was not following the laws of gravity. Instead of flowing over the edges of her hands --which she was now holding eye-level, shoulder width apart-- and dripping down, it slid up her fingers and gathered into needle-like points at their tips. She giggled, eyes shifting to the blood. "Immortal? Close, but no, and how should I know? I'm not the proctor here. I'm just a little chuunin medic trying to -- prove my worth." Rini slowly lowered and moved her arms so her wrists crossed in front of the small of her throat. She smiled over them at Kageko. "Is that so bad?"

With the speed of her taijutsu style -- the Way of the Lightning Fist -- she snapped her arms forward -- hands flinging out toward her opponent, fingers splayed. The Blood Bullets on her fingertips shot out in a blur of red, like a spray of throwing needles and just as dangerous.

((The hell!?! Why am I out?! Whatever.))

You "deid" dude.

Shane: Yes but the rules had been set.... and should be used.... people wouldn't like it if I disobeyed the rules of my bloodline use would they?

Also there is always higher authority. All points should be made and decisions should be made by the people who have been assigned as the Observers which observe the fights of NUR.

That doesn't apply here. If things are to go smoothly, strict order given by ONE individual must be how things work. I refuse to allow my exams to suffer the idiocy of internet "democracy". There is NO room for debate.

Any further posts on this subject matter from you, Bambi, will be met with a warning. I refuse to allow idealism to cause arguments within my exam. Sorry guys, but I've seen how things work here in NUR. Fifty idiots gangbang the one person with reason and win. That will NOT be happening in this exam.

If they don't like the new killing rule, they're free to leave, Bambi. Did you never consider that?

This exam is NOT NUR's. It's mine. Stop pretending this is a team decision.

And no.... he isn't dead... just out of the exams...

Ah fine then I cannot be arsed to discuss this anymore

"In a true battle. Yes, you kill and I would be unable to blame you for what you tried to do. At least, not in the same way. However, this is not a true battle as we cannot kill. Rules are a common agreement between people and no killing was one of the rules of this match," Kageko replied as she activated the third stage of her chakram wielding so as to gain the agility and speed to quickly swing her katana about in a full circle and so deflect the needles of blood away from her. While the style was mainly meant for the chakram, it could be used with just about any weapon. As she swung with her right arm, a tiny, key chain-sized blur shot out of her left sleeve and aimed directly at the ground below Rini at an unbelievable speed. If left unattended, it would slash straight through the symbol the girl made, hopefully making it unusable. Kageko continued, "And I'm guessing from your response that unless a proctor shows up and say otherwise, you won't give up unless you can't move." The girl couldn't help but continue to feel somewhat off at the sight of so much blood. Her discomfort was starting to reach extremely uncomfortable levels even as she continued to hide and dull it with the help of the angel within her, who had come back after Rini had gone and explained the major points of her bloodline.

{Kami, I don't think I can fake this much longer,} Kageko thought shakily.
Kami remained quiet, that was just her personality. She was reluctant to show herself, but also reluctant to see her host suffering like this. Finally, the angel replied, {Finish this talk and then I'll be your senses. Maybe I can filter out some of the images of the blood?} before receding once more.
Kageko replied with a simple thanks as she continued to focus on Rini's face. It looked ghastly, but the girl was alright with ghastly appearances.

Stage3 Genin
Stage Description: The basics for attacking are now definitely know, but more time will be required to truly master them. Now, it's time to learn about defensive basics. Chakrams, while they can be thrown, have a shorter range than most other weapons when held properly. To make up for this, chakram-wielders have to be able to dodge and defend against the attacks of longer-reaching weapons while also attacking at the same time. A good offense requires a good defense. To maintain this defense in such close quarters, speed and balance are a must along with dexterity and quick reactions. Once again, weight are worn. As before, they're used to encourage efficiency, but now they also are used to better the movement of users as well. While user's were encouraged to move only in straight lines before, they are now encouraged to take advantage of pivots, slides, and other creative techniques to create an opening. Of course, efficiency is still stressed. The practitioner also begins to practice throwing chakrams. Although they only focus on accuracy for now, they will continue to develop this skill in later stages. The number of weights is increased in this stage with the same restrictions as before. Now, though, there is a noticeable increase in speed and agility when the weights are taken off.
Stage Powers: Much less cuts. Users can now hold their own against people of their own rank, but it will be slightly difficult and they are unable to purposely perform anything serious. Agility and speed are greatly increased, so is endurance thanks to the suffering of numerous scratches from the training. Thanks to the ambidexterity gained from training with chakrams, it is also possible to somewhat dual-wield other types of weapons.

"A true battle?" Rini hissed, taking a threatening step forward in the circle as her opponent intercepted the Blood Bullets -- which exploded like any liquid meeting metal and splattered droplets across Kageko's skin and clothes. "You're not taking me seriously? I'll -- OW! [censored]!!!" The High Priestess jerked as something small imbedded itself into her foot, crouched, and dug it out -- still feeling the ghost echo of Tavian's pain. "What the [censored] is this?" She held the item up, looking between it and Kageko, and then folded it into a tight fist.

Apparently, Kageko had been trying to break the circle. Lucky Rini had stepped forward onto one of the lines of the inner triangle when she did or the weakness of her Ritual would have been revealed. No matter, Rini saw no point in continuing with it as things stood. From what she could tell of Kageko's size and movements, she was a weapon specialist, which meant any blatant, head-on attacks with Rini's blood would likely be easily thwarted. She would have to use more devious tactics. She snorted derisively. "I see how it is. Keh. That's where you're wrong, [censored]." She started to back up to the outer edge of her circle, arms spread and still clutching the key chain-sized item. "Notice how I haven't been disqualified for Tavian? This is a real battle, so let's have some fun."

She whirled, rearing back one arm, and slammed a chakra-enhanced fist into the back wall of the room -- which had already been damaged by her previous impact with it. As the wall crumbled, the entire room began to quake, thick cracks spreading across the already-weakened ceiling. Rini stepped up into the hole she made and threw a smirk back in Kageko's direction as the ceiling all over their current floor began to collapse. "See ya, angel-face." Rini bolted for the nearest window, dodging falling debris and cackling madly. Kageko would be hard-pressed to escape that. She grabbed the window sill, swung herself up and out of the danger zone, and -- surprisingly -- started to make her way up the wall instead of down.

"I am taking you seriously," Kageko replied as she reached her breaking point. Just in time, Kami took over the girl's senses. There was a pause as the pair got used to the sensation and then Kageko continued, "Just that there are different tactics for killing someone and for subduing someone."

As the ceiling shook, Kageko--well, Kami saw and Kageko controlled her neck, it was a weird situation--looked up and thought, . With the angel filtering out the blood, the girl was free to make whatever move she wanted, no matter how bloody it was.

As Rini made her way up the wall, Kageko sheathed her katana, activated the first stage of the Stolen Salvation style, prepared to use the Battoujutsu technique, and then used the bond she shared with the half of the Key that Rini held and Warped right above her oppponent, appearing from what seemed to be thin air. The moment she appeared, the girl's sword had already been whipped out of its umbrella-like sheathe (rather than the katana, Kageko was now using the setsuka) and was aimed horizontally at Rini's neck without warning as she fell on top of her. Kageko was speedy for a weapon user and now her speed had increased even more, add into the equation Rini's likely surprise at the sudden appearance and the chance of the opponent dodging were slim. At the same time, Kageko also used her other hand to bring the umbrella-like sheathe out and then open it in case she needed to defend and caused the half of the Key Rini held in one hand to rip through the back of her hand and fly free of her grip. The opened umbrella had chakra infused into it, making it into a shield of sorts. Of course, Kageko made sure that it didn't interfere with her swing, making sure that it only covered the area from top of the chest to the upper leg while leaving the neck open. The placement would make it hard for the girl to try and attack Kageko as both of her arms were underneath the umbrella smashing into her.

Warp: Using the connection between the user and his/her Key, the kekkei genkai allows the user to either teleport to the Key using void or teleport the Key to them using void. Start at 1m, then it is possible to work up to 500m maximum. Can only be used three times in a battle. Only Kukan-users may use this technique. Because it is a Kukan techniqe, Soul Connection requires 1.5 times more posts to master.

Stage 1
Academy

Life of Iai [Nukitsuke]

The Tsukyuusei-ryu Battoujutsu is a style like no other. The practitioners learn the concept of killing in the smallest timeframe as humanly possible. To accomplish this they learn to attack whilst they are drawing their blades and to use the entire umbrella in a fight, like using the shade as a distraction and shield. They are also taught that the quickest way to kill someone is to get them in as close as possible; in order to do that in a battle they must leave an opening that the enemy will most likely exploit and once they do they die. This means training their bodies to not only be quick but to be able to take a lot of pain. Because of the low level of the practitioners at this stage are often slower and much less fluid than higher-ups and the majority are not yet brave enough to take a hit.

Special Techniques

The Art of the Drawing Sword [Battoujutsu]

Passive ability in which the user strikes an enemy whilst they remove their blade from sheathes. In doing this, the user adds ½ of his or her agility to the strikes that occur in this fashion.

Umbrella Shield [Tate no Kasa]

By focusing chakra into the rice paper shade of the Setsuka/Chihana the user can make a shield that is much more resistant to attacks than a normal umbrella shade.

(OOC: Right, wanted to do more with this post, but figured it would be a lot less confusing if I just stopped at the part where I try to slash at your neck. Just know that Kageko is planning on doing several more things right after this move.)

Battle plans raced through Rini's mind as she scaled the outer wall. Her thoughts were cut short, however, when Kageko suddenly appeared before her. Her eyes widened a fraction. A time space jutsu? As the blur that was her opponent descended to attack with sword and -- umbrella? -- Rini did the first and only thing she could think of to avoid a beheading: stopped the flow of chakra into her feet. Gravity kicked back in and she started to fall, bending her head back as she did so so that the tip of Kageko's blade barely scraped across her throat.

"[censored] [censored] [censored]!" Rini hissed under her breath as she tumbled down toward the inky void at the base of the tower. Her hands -- one now bloody and throbbing from that thing tearing through it -- flashed to the chain weapon, uncurled it, and flung it desperately toward the wall. The hook dug into stone and she started to slow -- upright now. When the hook finally jerked her fall to a stop, she swung toward a window and crashed through it onto the first floor. Rini turned the crash into a smooth roll to her feet, jerking the chain to free the hook and pulling it into the room as she backpedaled from the window. She was on the defensive now. She hated being on the defensive!

((Now, I know you're super fast and all, Kage, but I think Rini can get away with "dodging" that just for the fact that -- even with tons of experience -- teleporting somewhere without knowing the precise terrain/location of everything around you can be disorienting and you would probably need at least a second or two to adjust to the exact location of your target and such before attacking that precisely -- just enough time to do what Rini did. Make sense?))

This match will be called on the twelfth. Since Rini managed to defeat one of the two other opponents, she will win if not defeated by that date.
PostPosted: Mon Jul 11, 2011 3:50 pm
(OOC: Right, although, you seem to forget that Kageko would be falling as well. Hope you don't mind that this action takes place in the middle of your post sweatdrop .)

As Rini fell, so did Kageko. That made sense since the girl had been falling onto Rini in the first place. While Rini focused on cursing and trying to save herself, Kageko focused on the objective: defeat her opponent. Before, the blood had been keeping Kageko from focusing, really focusing, on the danger Tavian had been in. Now, though, with Kami filtering out the blood that Kageko's eyes saw, the girl could get serious.

Closing the umbrella and then bringing it up, Kageko cut her fall short as she maneuvered the half of the Key that she still had hidden to below her while the other continued to fall and then Maximized the Key as a whole. Both halves grew to their default size, revealing themselves to be a pair of chakrams, one white and one black. The white chakram, which was underneath Kageko, seemed to hold the girl up like a platform of sorts, even as it continued to fall to the ground after pausing for only a moment, creating a gap of about seven feet between them. This way, Kageko would be too far away for Rini to hit her with a close-range attack but also wouldn't lose her if she managed to slip back into the Tower. As for the black chakram, it continued to fall besides Rini but out of her reach. The girl quickly sheathed her sword and then put the sword and umbrella-like sheath away as she fell.

Shortly after the chakrams had been maximized, a chain shot up at Kageko, forcing the girl to dodge steeply to the right. She glanced up to see it lodge itself into the wall and then acted without a moment to lose. Nimbly, the girl launched herself into a twirl from her descending chakram while also bringing it to her hand. Then, she surrounded the half of the Key with 50% void using the C-rank Aether skill while activating the sixth stage of the Mist Sword style and then struck at the chain before it could tighten and allow Rini to swing into the window.

The void would create an emptiness wherever it was present, ripping the parts of the chain that would be cut. Using the speed of the sixth stage of the Mist Swordstyle, Kageko would have been little more than a blur. Using the strength of the sixth stage of the Mist Swordstyle, Kageko reinforced the ripping properties of the void with the strength of the slice that she made with her chakram. The girl was in free-fall at this point, yes, but her attack was instantaneous and because it attacked the chain by slamming it against the wall, it didn't need to wait for the weapon to tighten to deliver maximum damage. Rini wouldn't have the chance to use the chain to swing to safety.

Maximize: Causes the Key to grow. Keys can become, with this technique, as large as their default size, a size that changes so as to fit the user perfectly as his/her body changes. Larger Keys are not as fast as when they are smaller and so are unable to penetrate as deeply, but they do have a wider attack area to make up for the lack of speed and have a larger amount of sheer power. Chakra is only needed to cause the Key to change size.

Jutsu Name: Aether
Rank : C
Elemental Ethnicity : Void
Description : Surrounds the user and/or anything else he/she chooses with a coating of void. Very volatile and can cause extreme damage to whatever it is surrounding if it goes out of control. A high level of concentration is needed. The only thing that remains undamaged 100% of the time are Keys. Can use 1%-50% void if at first stage. If at second stage, can use anywhere between 1% and 75% void. At stage 1, can only lasts three posts before it goes out of control, four posts maximum. At stage 2, can only last four posts before it goes out of control, five posts maximum. At stage 3, can last indefinitely.

Stage Six
Jounin

The speed of the user rises dramatically, and is so fast that normal people can barely keep track. The user is now a blur when in motion. The only ninja capable of watching the user are taijutsu specialist of a high level, and doujutsu users that specifically give them the ability to see/predict movements. However, the user cannot keep up this speed for long because his muscles will slowly begin to tear apart, leaving the user incapable of using them. The strength of the user is now at it's limits. Nothing can stop the blade of the user, except for a very few jutsu, weapons, and ninja. Normal steel can be cut through easily. The strength of the user, though, is not used fully correctly, wasting some effort and movement to access the strength of the user. So there is a great strain on the muscles when used too much, and this can stop the user's movements.

((Actually, yeah. I'm usually not one to complain, but . . . I posted under the impression that you had appeared and stuck to the wall, which would be the only way to give you leverage enough to strike that fast and controlled upon appearing. I notice the "fell on top of her" phrase now, and that was my miss -- my mistake. What I do have a problem with is mainly the chain bit.

You clearly stated you were floating/falling down on your chakram seven feet above Rini's free-fall. Two problems with that: Rini's chain weapon is now shorter since you already broke a good chunk of it off, so it would not reach seven feet plus some to fly past you and into the wall like that. It's maybe seven feet long now. Eight at most. The second problem is the bigger one. Rini didn't throw the chain up in your direction, she threw it at the wall, which is passing right next to her -- a more controlled, safer, and probably effective way to get it to catch in the stone. It's not a multi-pronged grappling hook made for that sort of thing. It only has one hook and thus only one angle with which it can catch and hold. Throwing it up runs the risk of it twisting and missing. She took the shorter, more assured way -- sideways.

So, by the time you would catch up to the hook in the wall, which carved a groove down with her for several of feet before actually catching, she would likely be already en route to crashing through the window. Even if you did cut it, she would still make it through and just be left with a hook-less length of spikey chain.

Besides, with all you did before you even got to that point . . . seriously? We were pretty much free-falling to our seeming-doom -- and probably only have a handful of seconds to act before we go splat into the void. If you could pull all that off, then you had to have slowed your fall, which means Rini would be even further away from you, since she was not until the very end.

I could go on about the free-fall stuff, but that gets science and physics and stuff involved, and that always brings up the "It's Naruto/an anime. What physics?" arguments . . . ))

(OOC:
Shane- I'll go with what Koneko decides, since it is mostly my fault that we're going so slowly sweatdrop .

Rini- I know you restrained yourself from using physics and math and such because Naruto is… well… Naruto, but I hope what little I use is applicable considering just how general it is. Furthermore, I could find no other way to refute or even support what you said without some basic calculations. All it is are some basic estimations on the length of the chain and how far Rini would have fallen after putting the chain into the wall. As you will see, I gave some leeway to all of my calculations in your favor. At least, I felt I did, but I could be biased so feel free to express any disagreements sweatdrop .

Okay, the way I see it, I have to disagree with your estimated length of the chain. I understand, it's your weapon, but I don't remember you describing the length exactly and your estimation is too short for what you used it for at the beginning of the fight. When Rini first used the chain, all three contestants were standing in a roughly equilateral triangle and were at least 10 feet or so away from each other, maybe 7 at the least. It wouldn't make sense for Rini to try and get closer than that to Tavian and Kageko since then she would easily be in reach of the weapons that they wore in plain view. To properly use a chain weapon, it needs to be about 2 feet or so longer than the distance between the user and the target, that way the chain can wrap around the target, making it 9 feet on each side at the very least. Let's see, Tavian's part wasn't broken, so that's a full 9 feet. Kageko's part was broken, but only at the part her blade made contact with the chain, so that still leaves about 6 feet at least. That gives us a total of at least 15 feet of chain to work with.

Now then, you described Rini slowing down before jerking to a stop. For the sake of simplicty, I won't put slowing down into the calculations for the distance she fell; instead, I'll have Rini start from rest, which should likely make up for slowing down and air resistance. Let's say it took at the very least about 1 second for Rini to jerk to a stop, only less if the chain runs out: .5 seconds to flip her body around and another .5 seconds to slow down. The acceleration due to gravity is 9.8 m/s^2, so assuming that Rini had started from rest, she would have made it down by about 4.9 meters or 16 feet. Rini would have had to go through the entire length of her chain and even then it would have been less than a second. Kageko would see the chain lodge into the wall as she passes by, at which point there would still be 8 feet to go. She'd need to react, so let's give that a couple feet, 6 feet to go. Her movement would be instantaneous considering the speed of the Hidden Mist style, but just in case I'd give that another foot, 5 feet. There would be at the very least 5 more feet for Rini to go down by the time Kageko cut the chain. Only a split second, really, but Rini still wouldn't have started swinging on the chain.

As for Kageko being able to do everything she did, just because she did a lot doesn’t mean that it took long. The chakrams acted at the same time and both were so close it would have taken only a moment to get them in their proper positions. Maximizing might take a second at most. As they moved and maximized, Kageko sheathed her sword and tucked it back into her belt. Let's give that 2 seconds, which is more than enough. So then, since everything happened all at once, it really would be enough time, especially since Rini herself had enough time to curse and do what she did.

In total, I predicted about 3 seconds for everything to happen, maybe 4 if you really want to stretch things more than they've already been stretched. Is that short enough? Did I make things too short?)
