Saken followed behind the two as he started putting things together, especially now that he knew the identity of the woman.
The woman who he met in the alley was in fact Birth, which meant that two day thing was a warning.
He sighed as he remembered hating his lack of judgement and the consequences that followed.
Now he was stuck with some kid who could wield a sword and a girl he was forced to accompany.
Cursing his luck he turned his body and allowing light to surround his foot slammed it into the side of a pursuing crawler sending it into a nearby building.
Landing he turned back around and continued following the two as he heard Hikari talk.

"Would you stop asking questions? There's enough headaches with these things around," Saken said throwing a sphere of darkness into a carrier below causing it to explode.
"Chosen saviors or envoy's none of it even matters."
Saken closed his hand into a fist allowing darkness to surround his hand as he glanced back to make sure the demons were still far behind them.
"Anything in the way will be cut down regardless of status."
Since he was stuck with Hikari until Kalan deemed it fine to leave he would have to help find this Virtue.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kalan glanced over at Inae at her words but remained silent as she went to catch up with the two.
Glancing over he noticed Nala was at his side before turning and running after her.
When he caught up the two he let out a small sigh of relief that Mirela had caught up to her before she got too far away.
He opened his mouth to speak when he noticed Birth in front of them.
Hearing what she called him he rubbed the back of his head remembering they were enemies long ago.

This was actually convenient since he could ask Birth himself about what was going on.
He started to greet her when he saw the tear in her eye, he wanted to ask why when red filled his vision.
His eyes widened as the demons attacked Birth, his hand closing into a fist as he watched the demons devour Birth.
Nala took out a small handkerchief and wiped the blood off her face with a sigh.
Kalan created a straw sword before an image of Miu flashed through is mind for a moment.
He didn't want the demons to get away but with Miu right there he found himself hesitating.
Gritting his teeth he summoned more straw before surrounding the demons in it.
He quickly hardened the straw creating a ball of straw trapping the demons in it.
He kicked the ball causing it to roll down the street the screams of the demons fading in the distance.
He let out a small sigh and reaching up tied his hair into a low ponytail.
"Guess those days of keeping Nala contained came in handy," he mumbled.
"Next chance I get I'm cutting both your heels,"

Kalan glanced back at Mirela before speaking.
"Mirela head towards the west part of town with Inae, and take Nala with you."
Kalan stepped forward and with some strain summoned another sword, continuously using his straw was starting to take a toll on him.
Creating the ball of straw pushed him even further causing him to sweat a little.
"It won't do any good if we all run towards the west since they'll just follow. I'll act as a distraction and meet you later on okay."
Kalan turned and leaning down placed his hand on Miu head before offering her a small smile.
"Stay with mommy and be safe. I'm trusting you to keep her company till I get back."
Kalan stood up and backed away looking at Mirela before turning back towards the demons again.
Seeing them drawing closer he ran forward into them before cutting the palm of his hand.
He quickly threw his blood towards the demons some of it landing on them before turning and running into an alleyway.
The incoming demons quickly turned and ran after Kalan.

The demons in the distance however were still drawing closer.
Nala turned and watch the demons drawing closer in the distance.
"Well he did sacrifice himself may as well not waste it,"
Nala said as she made her way down the street.
Feel free to stay behind and slow down the demons I'm going ahead,"

The tavern owner looked at the city alongside Reaper as something seemed to linger in the air around the two.
He looked over at Reaper who stood with his arms crossed, his attention focused on the city.
The tavern owner's brow arched as Reaper's smile seemed to twitch for a second.
"What was that Reaper?" the tavern owner said turning his attention back towards the town. "For a moment there that smile of yours seemed to shift."
"I just had a little itch on my nose mind getting it for me?"
The tavern owner shook his head before squeezing the bridge of his nose.
"Putting that aside I think it's time to send in some more,"
Reaper made a motion with his hand causing more of the demons from below to run towards the city as ten handlers flew past him.
"This certainly brings back fond memories,"

"That man is just as stupid as he was before..." Inae muttered beneath her breath, trying her best not to think about the sight of Birth being devoured before her. "What a great idea that was... Leave your harlot girlfriend, your daughter, and of course me alone while you go off to fight a battle you're probably going to lose." Glancing at Nala as she walked away, Inae shook her head a bit. "I don't even know what you are to him, but quite frankly I don't give a damn..." The tiny woman let out an irritated sigh before putting her attention onto Mirela and Miu. Mirela looked rather angry, while Miu had a pure expression of terror frozen onto her face. "Nala is right, we'd be fools to just stay here."

"And that's why we're not staying." Mirela pulled herself away from Miu before gently nudging her over to Inae. "Inae, you're in charge of watching both Nala and Miu. I'm going to stay and help Kalan. Don't try to get me to change my mind, I've made it up already." Clenching the 'weapon' that she held in her hands, Mirela rose to a stand. "I trust that you'll keep them safe."

Miu's eyes widened upon hearing Mirela's words. "Momma! Momma, no! You said you'd keep me safe! I don't want both you AND Daddy to get eaten up!" She quickly wiped the tears that were rapidly cascading down her cheeks, and after receiving a stern look from Inae, the small child squeaked and hid behind her. "J-Just.. Go help Daddy.. But you'd better come back, or your gonna be in big trouble! Big trouble!"

"...Your stupidity matches his, Mirela." Inae shook her head a bit. "I'll hold onto your case until you get back, and you will be getting back. Now go."

Inae pulled a card from her pouch before holding it up in front of her as Mirela took off after Kalan and the demons. Memories began to flash through her mind as she thought back to the last time she had actually used the card she was holding in her hand. 'Its a similar situation, I suppose... At least he isn't here to make things worse.'

"Tarot XVI - The Tower!"

Inae stepped away from Miu as a large, circular area of the ground before her became covered in a shimmering, purple mist as it trembled and quaked, sending tiny shockwaves throughout the city streets. Before the mist began to rise up from the ground, the small fortune teller took the card she held tightly in her hand and placed it upon the mist for a few moments, allowing it to sink into the ground below her, the shockwaves coming to a quick halt.

'Of course, back then, using a move like this so early in the game would be a bit reckless.'

Inae took a few steps back, making sure to keep Miu close behind her as the ground began to pulsate, sending a large but quick shockwave throughout the city. Both Inae and Miu were taken to the ground by this, but the two quickly recovered. Inae ignored Miu's confused cries as she watched her arcana began to take form.

An incredibly large, cobbled tower quickly rose up from the ground, a high-pitched yell being able to be heard as it rose. The tower itself looked old, as it was cracked in some places and covered in moss-- It looked as if it were falling apart. Despite this, it stood strong, towering over most of the buildings in the area. The top of the tower was left open.

Inae glanced up toward the top of the tower, squinting her eyes a bit at the sight of something partially squiggling over the edge. A normal-sized adult would have been able to see without much difficulty, but seeing as Inae was a very small person, it was a bit more difficult for her. The 'something' was in fact the bottom of a young woman.

"Lady Inaeeee!"

The young woman turned around and poked her head out where her rear end once was. She had straight, light red hair that had been pulled up into high twin tails, her milky complexion complimented by her light red eyes. She wore a light brown cloak, so her true outfit could not be seen.

She leaned over the edge and gave a happy wave, only to scrunch her nose upon seeing an unsatisfied look on Inae's face. "Fiiiine." The woman gave a small bow. "Tower, at your command."

Tower giggled happily before making her way over to a crate near the edge and bent down before picking up what seemed to be a fairly heavy object. "Loadin' it up, now! I'll blast 'em away for sure, Lady Inae!" She struggled a bit while carrying the object, but finally made it to her destination-- A large catapult. Tower then loaded the object she had been carrying onto it, showing that she had been carrying a large wooden ball with hundreds of medium-sized stones on the inside.

Tower quickly smacked her hands against each other with a smug grin on her face before she went and picked up a torch, humming along the way. She made her way back over to the catapult and lit the ball on fire before taking the torch and using it to sever the rope keeping the catapult from firing.

"Fire!"

As the rope snapped, the catapult activated and launched the ball into the air, sending it flying in the direction of the approaching demons at a high speed.

"That should help!" Tower exclaimed happily, tossing the torch over the side of the tower as she ran to the edge and leaned forward, holding her outstretched hand over her eyes to see if she landed a hit or not. "There it goes, Lady Inae!"

"...And now its your turn..." Inae muttered as she walked over to the torch and stomped it out.

"Tarot XVI - The Tower, dismiss."

"H-Huh?! Lady Inaeeee! No fair, I was having f-- Ahh!"

Inae watched as the tower began to revert to its mist form and dissipate. She saw Tower begin to plummet down toward the ground, only to shake her head when she saw her dissipate along with the rest of the tower and its contents, excluding the flaming ball, right before she hit the ground.

Returning the card to the pouch around her waist, Inae glanced back at Miu only to see a mixture of horror and awe stuck on her face. "What?" She chuckled a little bit, leaning down and patting her back. "Come on, let's go. That should keep them busy, we need to catch up to Nala. Mirela and Kalan will be along shortly."

"O-Okay..." Miu rubbed her eyes a little bit as Inae began to walk after Nala. "Sissy! Sissy where'd you go! You missed it, Auntie Inae is amazing! We're not gonna get eaten as long as she's around!!"

--------------------

"Kalan!" Mirela called out as she ran into the alleyway after him and the demons. The shockwaves from Inae's attack caught her off-guard, but she had recovered easily as well. "What the hell were you thinking?! Luring the demons away all by yourself?! What if something were to happen to you?!" She made a small face. "Now before you get upset, Inae's watching the kids." Mirela shook her head a little bit. "What kind of lover would I be if I let you fight all by yourself..."

Mirela moved into playing position, clutching onto the viola's bow tightly. She wanted to be ready for anything. "Just tell me what I need to do, and I'll do it! Alright?"

Mirela had kept her voice loud, hoping Kalan could hear her over the chaos around them. She was a little uncomfortable with the fact that she couldn't actually see Kalan, but she was hoping that she could fix that in the near future. She needed to make sure that he was alright, because she knew that if it were a mystery, she couldn't stay as focused as she needed to be, which in her case, lack of concentration was both a blessing and a curse.

"Let's try to make this fast, dear!"

Screams rang through the night as Hikari and team made their way deeper into the hoards of demons. Flashes of light filled the redish night sky as explosions rang out, their source tiny throwing knives made of light. Hikari lead the pack, her blade slicing through the sea of demons as she unleashed an arsenal of new weapons, toying with her new found control over her light.

"This is getting rediculous, we don't even know where we're going!"

Sora flew over head, catching a leaping crawler, slamming into the roof of a building before her blade flashed, the demon crying out before vanishing into dust. Sora stood, brandishing her blade as she turned to Hikari, a small smirk on her face.

"We're headed towards the north end of town. We should be reaching the gate soon."

Hikari looked over the rooftop, the sea of demons only growing thicker down below. A screech rang as a small group of crawlers appeared on the adjacent roof, mad dashing at the two on the roof. Hikari's eyes flashed brightly in a short instant as three daggers of light appeared between her fingers on her left hand. The demons lunged only to be thrown back, their bodies beginning to disintegrate before a snap swallowed all sound, three explosions firing.

"Annoying things..."

Sora and Hikari stood, waiting for their third to catch up, the world being swallowed by shadows around them, only their bodies of light visible in the darkness.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Deep in the pits of hell, the roars of numerous demons rang out as they stampeded to escape through the hundreds of portals that had appeared. Maniacal laughter filled the chasms of the underworld as millions of demons sentenced to purgatory were now being set free into the overworld.

However, under a large tree, two beings sat quietly, their tired, tattered bodies illuminated by the lone tree, so far out of place in such a dark and lonely world. The man that sat there peered up if for only a moment as a flame shot up, a portal ripping open before him. A bright sheen adorned the man's eyes as he peered from behind his silver hair. For a moment the world around them went silent as the man slowly stood, his lips parting as he began to speak.

"What are you up to Death..."

The small patch of grass began to wave as the man stepped forward, the capital visible through the ring of flame. A gloved hand slowly raised before protruding through the portal, the cool night air brushing against the man's exposed fingers, a small grin coming over his face.

Chapter 2:Slipping Hope

Saken let out a yell as a rebirth tackled him into the window of a building.
The two rolled before Saken kicked him sending the Rebirth into the wall, in one movement he slammed his glowing hand through the Rebirth's chest.
Pulling his hand out he pushed the body aside before moving to attack when he noticed a dark figure behind him
Ducking he dodged the Rebirth's attack before jumping away from it.
"Why won't you die?!"
The Rebirth ran at Saken causing him to summon his sword and block it's strike, using his free hand he gripped the Rebirth's face and sent a burst of light from it throwing it back into the far wall.
Summoning darkness he bound the demon to the wall by it's arms and legs.
"Now stay there!"

He turned and jumped out the window as he went to catch up to his companions.
To his surprise he saw the two waiting for him and eventually caught up to them landing a few feet away.
"Had a little incident," he said glancing back behind him.
Saken turned his head to see a strange eyeball staring at him, he blinked a few times before tilting his head.
The eye tilted as well before glaring at him.
"What in the-"
He was cut off as a loud wail echoed from the source of the eye causing Saken to cover his ears.

The wail stopped and Saken cut the eye off with a sword of light before putting it away.
The ground seemed to rumble for a moment causing Saken to turn as a horde of Carriers started waddling in their direction.
He noticed a little girl carrying a teddy bear running along side dozens of other little girls.
The sister of the Crawlers followed close behind as two Handlers made their way towards the three.
Two Feeders rode on the head of the Handlers as Rifters closed in.
Four Rebirths jumped towards the building brandishing their arm blades as hundreds of lesser demons ran behind the waddling carriers.
"This is the last time I visit a festival, let's hurry!"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kalan stopped in an alleyway cutting through a Crawler as he did so before looking around.
He started to relax when a familiar voiced penetrated his ears, he felt his whole body shiver as he listened to her talk.
He lowered his head knowing what he did wasn't the smartest idea but he had another reason for running off.
Hearing Mirela say lover made him smile before he closed his eyes as he gripped his sword.
Hearing dear made him rub the back of his head as he walked out of the shadows to look at Mirela.
"Sorry for running Mirela...but get ready I'm sure he'll show himself soon."

The buildings next to the alleyways exploded in an eruption of green energy causing Kalan to quickly create a straw barrier.
He held his arms up making sure to shield both Mirela and himself as the rubble of the buildings landed on the dome of straw.
Once the rubble stopped falling his lowered his arms causing the straw to sink back into his sleeves.
He looked around for a moment to see the buildings next to them were decimated, only the bottom part of them the remains of what once was.

Green flames started to circle them until they were enclosed in a ring of green fire.
Kalan grit his teeth and turned to see a hooded figure walk through the flames and stop a few feet from the two.
"I'm assuming you're the one that was watching us earlier," Kalan said allowing some straw to fall into his free hand.
"There isn't much time so I'll make this quick. My name is Vilos and I will be testing the both of you,"
Vilos face was hidden by the hood on his head except for black hair that poked out the side of the hood.
"Test us? What are you-"
Kalan cut himself off as the distance between Vilos and himself closed in an instant.
Kalan raised his sword blocking Vilos' kick sliding back a little.
"I don't trust that you can protect those dear to you. I'm here to confirm it."
Vilos raised his gloved hands causing his bracelets to move a little as he took on a fighting stance.
"I'll be straightforward Kalan, you won't be able to touch me if you hesitate to kill me. Mirela the same goes for you. If you fail to defeat me here, I'll find all those dear to you and kill them. Miu, Inae and Nala's blood will stain my hands. Now come"
Kalan summoned another sword and slammed them together creating a dual bladed weapon before glancing back at Mirela.
"I don't think he's kidding Mirela, let's work together to take him down, I trust you to watch my back."
With that Kalan ran forward bringing back his weapon as Vilos remained still, the darkness hiding where his eyes watched.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nala stopped as she reached the western part of town and just as the woman had said no demons were around.
Of course no people were there either, the buildings were empty and there seemed to be no signs of life anywhere.
Nala walked through the barren streets before coming to a sudden stop as a familiar scent filled the air.
"......a body."
The moment she spoke these words the body of a man landed in front of her. Nala didn't move but looked down at the twisted face of the person.
They were human at least they looked it from what she could tell.
"A new friend!"
Nala turned to see a little boy in a cloak fall from a nearby rooftop.
Blood stained his clothing and seemed to drop from his over sized sleeves.
The child reached up and removed his hood revealing a blood stained face, his amber eyes met Nala's as he stared at her with his medium length white hair.
Looking past the blood on his creamy face he didn't seem a threat, minus the murderous look that seemed to linger in his eyes.
She didn't understand how one person could look gentle yet dangerous at the same time.
"I'm assuming your the reason no people are around here."
The child smiled before nodding at her.
"No demons were here so most of the town had come here to escape...some got away...but others stayed to play and give them time to run."
The child's grin widened as he pointed behind her with his right hand.
Nala hesitated but looked behind her to see heads dangling off the edge of roofs by what seemed to be talismans.
"Now you and I can play,"
Nala turned to see a talisman in the child's hand.
"You're pretty on the outside...so I wonder what your insides are like."
Nala drew the dagger from her sleeve and glared at the child as he pulled the hood back over his head.
"What's the matter with the kids in this town?"
"Mommy calls me Vin, nice to meet you!"

Inae seemed to be relieved as they reached the west side of town, however that relief was quickly snatched away at the sight of the child before her, and replaced with a severe look of irritation. "Listen, kid... I'm tired of these demons causing trouble in this city, and child or not, if you're just going to be adding to the problem, I don't care for you." Turning her head slightly, Inae walked over to Miu before placing her hand on the girl's shoulder. "Miu, did you hear him?"

Miu blinked a little bit and glanced up at Inae with a slightly confused look on her face, indicating that she hadn't. "Hear what, Auntie Inae?"

"He wants to play, and with Nala no less. Why don't you join them? Don't worry.." The tiny woman brought her gaze up to Vin for a moment as a sly smirk fell upon her lips. "He isn't going to eat you. Since Mirela isn't here, I'll make sure of that." Inae had actually wanted to see just what Miu could do. Just letting her stand on the sidelines and observe wasn't going to do anyone any good. Even if she was just a child, she needed to be able to pull her own weight. Of course, if things started to go downhill, she would step in.

"Remember when you wanted to play catch with Mirela and I when you were younger?"

Miu thought for a moment before giving an energetic nod. "Yup yup! I remember!" She folded her arms across her chest. "You wouldn't play, and you even yelled at me!"

"Well back then, it wasn't a good time to play. It is now though, so why don't you go ahead and play with them?" She chuckled a little bit. "Mirela would be happy."

"Well... If Momma would be happy..." Miu broke out into a happy little smile, giggling. "Of course I'll play!" After unfolding her arms, Miu opened the bag she had been carrying before shoving her hand into it. After just a few seconds of digging, the small child pulled out a tiny black and white feather from the bag.

Placing the tiny feather into her mouth by its stem, Miu closed the bag and lifted up her puffy hat before placing the bag on top of her head, only to lower the hat back down a few moments later. After retrieving the feather from her lips, Miu crushed it between her hands by clasping them together. She then closed her eyes, only to re-open them a few moments later as an orange-like glow began coming from between her fingers.

The child's smile seemed to brighten as she loosened her grasp and began to pull her hands apart. The glow became more intense as the feather became encased in a tiny ball of crackling, orange energy that grew in size the further her hands moved away from each other, forming a translucent shield in the shape of a ball. Once the 'ball' reached a diameter of 1 1/2 feet, Miu tightened her grip once more. It began to crackle a little more violently, showing that it wasn't too stable.

"Heehee, Sissy! Let's play with our new friend!" Turning her attention to Vin, Miu stepped forward, taking her place beside Nala, apparently oblivious to the dagger that had been drawn from her sleeve.

"You look fun to play with!" Miu raised the 'ball' up closer toward her face, which quickly became illuminated by the light of the object in her hands. After letting out a happy giggle, Miu raised the ball high above her head. "You'd better play nice, though!"

In one swift movement, Miu brought the ball down from above her head, only to swing it down between her legs as she bent over. She then released the ball and returned to an upright position, only to watch the 'ball' quickly roll across the ground, tearing a path into it as it went. Miu tilted her head slightly at this, unaware of the fact that anything the ball came into contact with would be met with a great amount of force.

"Be careful with my ball, okay?"

--------------------

Mirela narrowed her eyes at Vilos's words. Even if Kalan hadn't spoken his thoughts about whether Vilos was kidding or not, she had already felt that he wasn't... Which only made her think even less of him. She had remained quiet through his entrance, however at the mention of a 'test,' she shook her head.

"I can't say that I'm too fond of that idea."

Mirela glanced over at Kalan as he charged forward at Vilos, however remained just as still as their opponent. "Trust me, you won't have to worry about any hesitation from either of us! You really must wish for death to threaten our family."

Taking a few steps back, Mirela locked her attention onto Vilos, her determination burning within her violet eyes. She then brought the bow across her viola's strings, causing a sweet-sounding sound to resonate throughout the area. The bow took on a pale green glow as Mirela continued to play, causing streams of green energy to emerge from the viola. The streams then moved to the ground, hovering just a few inches above it.

Mirela began to pick up the tempo on the melody, which caused the streams to advance toward Vilos. They moved around Kalan and proceeded to move toward Vilos, only to come to a halt and start pooling beneath his feet upon reaching him. As the melody's dynamics began to increase, the energy began to increase in luminosity.

'Almost...'

"Careful, Kalan!"

Mirela brought the melody to an abrupt finish, causing the energy to take on one final, bright glow followed by a slight hiss before finally detonating into a small explosion.

'I don't expect that to finish things, but hopefully it does something... Even if it draws his attention away from Kalan to let him land a hit, I'll be happy. Fear the power of Love, Vilos.'

It had been a long while since Mirela had even raised a bow to Love in an offensive manner, so she felt a little rusty. She also felt that maybe with a little practice on the battlefield, she'd be able to easily get back into the swing of things and go back to how she had been seven years ago.

'Well, maybe that isn't such a good idea...'

"This is getting to be rediculous"
As the onslaught of demons seemed to swarm in from all directions, Hikari and Sora did their best to defend themselves.
Light exploded from the rooftop as they fended off the onslaught of demons, small daggers slamming into crawlers before detonating,
sending their bodies flying backwards as they evaporated from the light.
Hikari's breath became short and staggered as she unleashed a barrage of daggers into the crowd of demons, her body becoming fatigued from her power.
Sora dashed through the demons, her blade quickly slicing through the crowd.

"This is almost too much to handle, we have to keep moving or we're dead."

Hikari couldn't hold much longer, her body already beginning to give way to her power.
Her body felt heavy as each shot of light drained her of her strength.
Long fights definately would spell disaster for her she thought as she shot another dagger onto a nearby roof, detonating it with a snap of her fingers.

"I've made an exit! let's move!"

Sora gave a small nod as she ran towards a carrier, her blade sparking along the ground as her foot landed on the beast.
She ran up over it's large mouth, her blade slicing up as she ascended up the demon, before leaping off back towards their escape.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All over the city, hell was breaking loose.
Demons ran rampant, destroying all that stood in it's way.
The buildings began to crumble from the eastern side of the city inward as they made their march.
Among the carnage a small group of demons encased in straw shot through the street before crashing into a sturdy building, sending bricks and rubble flying on impact.

Among the bodies lay a motionless Birth, her robe stained crimson from her blood.
The once radiant deity lay among the mortals she had loved so dearly.
A black shadow draped over her body, the image of a man etched over her.
A cloaked figure looked upon the fallen Birth, only his glared eyes visible behind his black hood.

"It seems they've made things a bit harder for us. Spread out, find what you can. Let's be sure everything goes according to plan"

Six more cloaked figures emerged from the darkness, as if shadows.
Each gave a bow before dispersing in all directions of the city, searching through the hell that had taken over.

Saken sliced through a crawler and rolled as he landed making sure to keep up with Hikari and Sora.
He could hear screams down below followed by loud angry bellows, his stomach churned at the thought of these things much less what they were doing.
For every demon he cut through four more seemed to appear in their place.
He hated to admit it but the endless barrage was started to have an effect on him.
His light had gone dormant forcing him to use darkness to get through the horde of demons.
Seeing Hikari create an exit he turned to jump into the hole but stopped as something pounded in his chest.
Saken came to a stop as darkness started consuming his body.
He grit his teeth as his body was covered in his darkness creating a silhouette like appearance.
A dark aura hovered around his body as the darkness around him started to flow into his body.
He closed one eye and forced the darkness away from him causing the darkness on his body to break apart and fade away.
Saken shook his head and jumped into the hole after the others only to see a cloaked figure sitting in a chair a few feet away.

The cloaked figure sat with their legs crossed looking at the group through the darkness of it's hood.
A large silver staff with a vine wrapped around it, and a strange dial like object at the top of it leaned against the cloaked figure.
"Must be nice to be part of a lower class intelligence,"
The figure stood up after speaking grabbing their staff in the process.
Reaching up the figure removed their hood revealing the face of a young man.
He had short blond hair that stopped at the back of his neck and wore a monocle on his left eye.
A smirk was on the man's pale face as he stared at the three.
Saken closed his hand into a fist building darkness into it before the man held a finger up to him.
"I'm not here to fight you. I have no desire to fight low specimens of humanity. I feel bad for you so I thought I'd help seeing as you need guidance. Thus I Ivan shall assist you."
Ivan turned his body and raising his staff pointed near the northwest.
"That deity you're looking for is that way. Keep going in that direction and it'll be easy to find her."
Ivan lowered his staff and turned to face the others before pulling his hood back up.
"How do you know about that?" Saken asked glaring at him. "I also don't see why I should believe you."
"That is none of your concern and if you have another way to find her by all means ignore my generosity. In fact please go ahead and let me know your plan to find the deity."
Saken cracked his knuckles causing Ivan to sigh and shake his head.
"Superiors always have to assist those of a lower stature so no need to thank me. Maybe one day the three of you together will make a person that can rival a quarter of my intelligence."
Ivan chuckled to himself as yellow energy circled around his body.
"Good luck," Ivan said before vanishing.

Kalan attacked Vilos making sure to keep him busy until Mirela could finish her attack.
Vilos leaned away from Kalan's continuous attacks making no attempt to retaliate as Kalan continued to attack him with his sword.
Hearing Mirela's warning he quickly jumped away from Vilos as the energy gathered beneath his feet.
Vilos looked down before the energy exploded causing Kalan to raise his arm to shield against the rubble.
Kalan looked into the dust of the explosion his grip tightening around his sword as he looked for any signs of Vilos.
"Almost,"
Kalan's eyes widened as Vilos appeared in front of him in a flash of green.
He raised his sword as Vilos kicked him sending him sliding back a few feet.
Vilos lowered his foot and turned his attention to Mirela.
"A worthy attempt though you missed,"
Kalan flexed his hand causing more straw to come out into his hand.
He sent a medium sized piece of straw at Vilos before firing dozens of smaller ones at him.
Vilos leaned his body dodging the medium sized one but ran his hand along the side of it before grabbing the other end of it.
Making diagonal motions he deflected the smaller straw away before tossing the medium sized one away.
"Hard to fight when you're tired isn't it Kalan?" Vilos said shaking his hand.
Kalan pulled the straw back into his sleeve grabbing the medium sized one with his free hand as he kept his attention on Vilos.
"I'm sure by now you understand,"
Kalan nodded and allowed the medium sized one to enter back into his sleeve.
"You've been following us for awhile...you let the demons weaken me before revealing your presence,"
"Precisely though I don't like using such methods and prefer fair fights,"
Vilos raised his right hand and held it out in front of him causing green flames to circle around it.
"I was an assassin before coming here so I know how to stand up against swordsman. I was unsure of your skill so I made sure you were weakened before facing you. Still in your weakened state can you really protect everyone? Seems hard enough just to watch Mirela."
"I won't let you attack them," Kalan said gripping his sword with both hands. "Mirela get ready to-"
Vilos held up a finger to Kalan as he turned his head to the side for a moment.
"We're done," Vilos said lowering his hand. "It seems I've been summoned. However before I go allow me to ask you a question. If you're here fighting me who is protecting those dear to you? While you engage in a meaningless fight how do the others fair?"
Kalan relaxed a little seeing Vilos exit his fighting stance but kept his swords out. "I can't protect Miu and Nala while I'm here...but there's someone's protecting them. It's easier to protect those close to you when you have multiple people caring for each other."
"Then who is protecting them? Realize your actions endanger those around you."
Vilos turned his back to the two before adjusting his hood.
Mistress Vivian should be nearing Inae by now. Know that you weren't able to protect them yourself and learn from it Kalan and Mirela,"
Vilos vanished in a cyclone of green flames before they all dispersed.
Kalan remained silent making sure Vilos was gone before pulling his straw back into his sleeve.
"Mirela let's hurry back to everyone," Kalan said turning to her.

Vin smiled as Miu started using her power causing his talisman to glow in his hand.
When she tossed the ball of energy he hurled the talisman forward causing it to stab into the ground.
A small explosion followed creating a medium sized crater in the ball's path as Vin put his hand over his mouth an innocent laugh following.
He used the crater to avert the ball's path and force it to fly over his head as he summoned another talisman.
He stepped a few feet to the right before smiling to avoid the ball's descent before speaking.
"My turn!"
Red energy flowed from Vin's body as the earth around him started to shake as he let a little of his power flow out.
Nala felt an immense pressure suddenly fill the area and dug through her mind for any kind of escape plan.
Miu was the only one out of the two of them that could use a power so she could serve as a temporary distraction for Vin.
She figured while he was tearing here apart that gave her roughly a three second window to move or take out one of his eyes.
However that was only if he wasn't going to kill them both at once.
Red energy exploded off the boy as the buildings around him started disintegrating from the release of energy.
He grinned as his cloak fluttered under him as the ground cracked under the pressure of his energy.
"Miu how do you feel about being a human shield?" Nala asked.

"Vin....that's enough,"
Vin's energy stopped as Vivian walked up to the group keeping one hand on her sword.
The shine in his eyes almost distracted from the bloodthirsty aura around the child.
"Whatever kept the demons from this area is fading. They've consumed most of the city so our time is up."
"I didn't get to play with my new friends though," Vin said pointing at Miu and Nala.
"Vin there's a banner of heads a few feet away from us. You've played enough,"
Vin wanted to argue but after staring at Vivian he gave a sad nod and turned to Miu and Nala.
"We'll play mutilation some other day....I have to go."
With that Vin turned and jumped into the darkness his laughter echoing as he vanished.
A handler flew over head causing Vivian to look up as it casts a large shadow overhead.
Vivian sighed and made a quick vertical motion with her sword before sheathing it.
"Children are not spared so learn to survive," Vivian said looking at the two.
The handler split into two different halves with a loud roar as crimson fell from the sky, Vivian vanished as the waterfall of red crash down upon them.
Nala held up her now blood soaked robe and let out a small sigh.
"Being eaten alive is starting to sound good now that I've been around my present company," Nala said shaking her sleeve a little.

Mirela remained quiet for a few moments after Vilos made his exit, allowing herself the chance to calm down as much as she could. However, given the current situation, she wasn't able to do much. As Mirela finally lowered her bow, she brought her attention over to Kalan, only to nod at his words. "I trust that Inae is taking good care of them, but we should still hurry.." Mirela lowered her viola down to her side, only to move it to the hand that occupied the bow before walking over to Kalan and gently placing her free hand on his cheek. "Kalan, I know that you want to protect us, but... He was right, you know. If you're tired, you should reserve your strength a little more." She gently brushed her thumb across his cheek, allowing a small but gentle smile to come onto her lips.

"Lean on me if you need to. I care very deeply for you, Kalan.. You know that. I'd feel terrible if something were to happen to you while defending me and pushing yourself too far. Now..." Removing her hand from Kalan's cheek, Mirela returned the viola to the hand it had been in before.

"Let's go. I'm sure everyone is waiting for us."

With that, Mirela hurried back onto the main streets, glancing around to make sure that she and Kalan could return to everyone with little to none obstacles. When she thought things looked clear, or at least as clear as they could be, she turned back to Kalan and nodded her head in the direction of the others. "Come on, we should be able to get there pretty easily."

Taking a deep breath in an attempt to calm herself once more, Mirela pointed to Kalan the direction she was going to go in before taking off running. However she stayed at an easy pace to make sure Kalan would be able to keep up in case he had been weakened any further.

'Inae, I hope you're taking good care of everyone...'

--------------------

Miu let out a tiny squeal, shutting her eyes tight as the blood crashed down upon them. She re-opened them after a few moments, only to find that her clothes were drenched in the crimson liquid. Curious as to what it was, the child placed her hand on the top of her hat, patting it gently for a few moments before bringing her hand to her face and staring at it while innocently tilting her head.

"I've never seen red rain before..." A big smile crossed Miu's face, and the child jumped a few times in place, splashing the 'rain' beneath her feet around. "Red rain, red rain!" Letting out squeals and giggles, Miu proceeded with her fun, clapping her hands together before turning her attention to Inae, who had looked fairly irritated and disgusted with her surroundings. "What's wrong, Auntie Inae?" Miu smiled a bit more before running over to her. "Its just rain, right? Rain can't hurt nobody!"

Inae squeezed the bridge of her nose at Miu's innocent stupidity, only to let out a short sigh. She had managed to step out of the way, so only a part of her had gotten splashed and covered with the handler's blood. "Miu..." She shook her head a bit. "I want you to know that you were just playing with blood, and now you're covered in it.." Inae reached forward, only to wipe some blood off of the child's face.

"There's a good chance that when Mirela gets back here with Kalan, she's going to scream. Go get your feather back. We'll give them a few more minutes before we keep going," Inae shook her head once more and glanced over at Nala. "Do you have any problems with that plan? I know that you must want to get out of here, but it'll be easier if we stay together. The only reason we're not leaving now is because we'll do a lot better in numbers as long as everyone is able to carry their own weight."

Inae brought her gaze back to Miu, watching as she made her way over to the location that the 'ball' fell before sighing a bit. "She's too innocent for her own good.."

Upon making her way over to her 'ball', Miu bent down to pick it up. Standing straight up, Miu whined a little bit, feeling incredibly creeped out by the fact that she had been playing with blood just a few moments ago. The fact that she was covered in it wasn't exactly helping, either.

After picking up the ball of energy, Miu shook her head, trying to put the bad thoughts into the back of her mind. As she began to squeeze it together, the energy began to crackle once more before it finally began to shrink in size. Miu continued doing this until the ball had completely disappeared, and only the feather was left in its place. "Silly guy... We were playing catch... Not moo-till-a-shun... I've never even heard of that game before."

Miu then retrieved the bag of feathers from beneath her hat and was relieved to see that it hadn't gotten covered in blood. After opening it, the small child returned the feather to its rightful place, only to close the bag once more and hold it tightly in her hands as she returned to Nala and Inae. "M'kay, I'm ready! Are Momma and Daddy comin' back soon??"

"If they haven't been eaten alive, then I suppose so."

"W-Wha?! Auntie Inae, don't joke like that!!"

"...Who said I was joking?"

The sound of metal rang out as a cloaked figure dragged a red blade against the cobblestone of the main street, sparks flying, illuminating the shadows ever so slightly.
Accompanying the tall cloaked figure a shorter figure walked along side them, a massive hammer perched on their shoulder.
Their footsteps clicked as they made their way towards the pair of lovers, Mirela and Kalan.

"Saya, you know what to do"

The smaller cloaked figure known as Saya slowly removed her hood, snow white skin seemingly glowing in the darkness.
Her empty emerald eyes stared on at the two making their way towards them.
Her soft lips slowly opened as her frail voice broke the silence.

"Yes sir...."

Gripping the hilt of her hammer, she dug her foot into the ground, swinging the mighty weapon.
It's head hit the ground with such force, it shook the street, spikes of stone shooting out from the cobblestone high into the air, tearing the street apart.
The spikes shot through between Kalan and Mirela, forming a great stone wall.

"Now Saya, handle the girl. I'll take the gentleman."

"I understand..."

The Taller cloaked figure gripped his blade, his pace quickening as he walked down the length of the wall, sparks shooting from his blade as it drug along the ground.

Along the other side, Saya was now in full sprint, her hammer returned to it's original place atop her shoulder. Her hollow eyes looked straight on as she made her way towards Mirela, the ground tearing under her feet as she ran.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"What the hell was with that guy?"

Hikari turned to her two 'companions', her voice strained as she tried to catch her breath.

"Apparently the demons aren't the only one's in the city are they?"

"I suppose not...Still who just tells the enemy where they're hiding their prisoners?"

Sora walked past Hikari and sora, taking a seat in the chair Ivan was previously in.
She removed her hat as she attempted to relax, if only for a moment.
She looked up at the two, her eyes gazing upon them through her silver hair.

"A confident one...."

Her eyes darted between both Hikari and Saken before landing upon the boy.

"So...What's our next move? The 'envoy' is running out of power, soon it'll be up to you and I."

As much as Hikari hated to admit it, she was right.
Her strength was leaving her and she didn't know how long it would take to regain it.
Long fights such as these weren't the best situation for the envoy in training.
Hikari turned to Saken, her annoyance apparent.
PostPosted: Sat Jan 28, 2012 3:10 am

Saken looked between Hikari and Sora as they spoke turning his attention away when Sora sat down.
He let out a sigh for getting a physical reminder of another troublesome thing in their way.
He looked outside the window to see demons pass by and move down the street, he was thankful they didn't look in here.
He listened to the two and agreed with Sora about that man Ivan's confidence.
Still if he made the mistake of revealing the deity's location no sense in letting it go to waste after all.
Feelings eyes on him he turned to look back at Sora before she asked her question.
His eye twitched and he squeezed the bridge of his nose when Hikari looked at him.
Why were they looking at him for an answer? Logical thinking seemed like a waste of time...but he was also getting tired.
He was silent for a moment thinking about the one thing he at least knew...fighting.
"Well unless you can get your power back somehow we'll have to take it easy if we move," he said lowering his hand and looking at Hikari. "Much as I would love to watch you die getting through the demons would be difficult with just the two of us."
He turned his attention to Sora before crossing his arms.
"If it wasn't for the army of things out there I'd say hide...with their numbers even forcing them into a closed space wouldn't do anything. They'd just keep coming. However if we push ourselves we'll die anyway for the same reason as before...there's way too many. When I got in a brawl at that tavern the best solution was to find a way out without coming in contact with the others."
Saken eyes widened before he pat the palm of his hand with his fist..
"What if we used the demons for transportation? I mean there's enough of them right? Those floating head guys, if we could get on one of them we could fly over the demons and out of here."
Saken took a few steps down and sat in an almost broken chair.
"That's the best you're getting from me," he said waving his hand. "I can't even summon my light at this point so if Hikari runs out I won't be too far behind."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kalan touched his cheek as Mirela walked off, a small smile finding it's way onto his face from her words.
He mumbled a silent apology before walking after rotating his right shoulder as he tried to get gather his energy.
He slapped both his cheeks as he caught up to Mirela and walked alongside of her.
Kalan hurled a few pieces of straw towards demons that got close to their location trying to avoid as many as possible.
He felt a little better since he was avoiding pulling out too much straw but he could still feel the effects of earlier.
He silently hoped the west side of village was really demon free, holding back in front of Miu wouldn't be an option anymore if it was overrun like the rest of the village.
Kalan started to think of how to get out of the village when he heard a strange noise before turning to it.

It sounded like metal scraping against something and his eyes landed upon the source confirming his suspicion when he saw the sword.
He saw another figure carrying a hammer before pointing towards them looking over at Mirela.
"Is it too hopeful to think those two are potential allies," he said with a nervous chuckle.
He turned back seeing Saya take off her hood before watching her raise her hammer and bring it down.
Kalan staggered a little at the sudden quake before looking over at Mirela as a stone wall formed between them.
"Mirela!" he yelled before running over to the wall and pounding on it.
He looked up the wall and shook his head knowing in his current state climbing it wasn't an option.
He turned his attention back to the wielder of the sword before rubbing the back of his head as he ran at him.
"Okay," Kalan said as he summoned a straw sword. "I hope Inae doesn't mind watching Nala for a little longer "
Kalan allowed some straw to land between his fingers before he hurled them at the stranger before he ran at him holding his sword to the side with two hands.
The sooner this was handled, the sooner he could get over to Mirela.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The tavern owner glanced over at Reaper and let out a small sigh seeing the toothy grin on his face.
The demons had finally overrun the west part of town, which meant Vivian had retreated from the location.
He knew that was one of the reasons Reaper was smiling, however the other reason caught him off guard as Reaper spoke to him.
"Oh yeah I forgot to tell you. You're going to die soon," Reaper said before pointing at the town. ""Make sure you don't miss any of this,"
The tavern owner looked at Reaper who was chuckling to himself as he tapped his chin with a smile.
Though he knew it was a waste of time he decided to at test his luck since he seemed in a good mood.
"You're not going to give me a time are you?"
"That's no fun on my part if I give you details. Be grateful I gave you a hint,"
"Reaper...there's a town full of flesh eating demons and a woman out to kill me. Soon doesn't help me."
"Ah it brings me no greater joy to watch such a scene. Isn't it beautiful?"
"...stop ignoring me."

Caught off-guard by the sudden trembling of the earth and the wall of stone, Mirela found that she had lost balance. Finding herself on the ground, she propped herself by her elbows only to see the small girl known as Saya sprinting toward her. Not long after the violet and emerald hues met, Mirela quickly shifted her gaze to the hammer that had been resting on Saya's shoulder as she ran. 'I definitely would prefer not to be hit with that...' Narrowing her eyes a bit, Mirela saw that the distance between the two of them shortened more and more with each second that passed. Realizing that she didn't have long before what she assumed to be her death, Mirela reached over to retrieve her viola, however she saw that it was not within her grasp and had fallen a small ways away from where she landed.

"Damn..." She muttered to herself, feeling her attitude and patience slowly begin to wear thin. "I hope Kalan is off to a better start than I am." Gazing back at Saya one last time to get a final idea of the distance between them, Mirela prepared herself to move as quickly as possible. In one swift movement, Mirela jerked her body to the right, allowing herself to roll away from the wall and over toward her viola. Upon reaching it, Mirela quickly returned it into her possession before using one leg to gracefully lift herself into a standing position. From there, Mirela moved herself into playing position before smoothly yet quickly sidestepping further away, with the heels of her shoes clicking against the cobblestone streets as she moved.

"I didn't even think that would work, but I'll take it."

Fearing that Saya would simply change direction and resume her charge, Mirela figured that she would simply have to put up her own set of obstacles to try and slow her down. As she drew her bow against Love's strings, a sweet sound filled the air. The bow that Mirela had been holding firmly within her grasp took on a shimmering green, glowing with ethereal energy. Mirela proceeded quickly into the melody, picking up the tempo as she went. The same energy surrounding her bow began pouring out of the tip, only to gracefully spiral down into the ground beneath her feet, filling the many cracks around her. It wasn't long before the a large portion of the area around the musician had become laced with energy.

Mirela stood in the middle of a 'neutral' area, her body moving gracefully with the melody. She had become lost in her music, but not to the point of losing perception of the seriousness of the situation as well as her surroundings. It had been the first time in a long time she had felt so relaxed with her music, and she didn't want the feeling to go away. Mirela continued to play as she danced, which in turn caused the energy running through the ground to shimmer immensely, the glow increasing as time went by. Despite how much Mirela had been moving, she focused her gaze onto Saya, bringing herself back a bit from her calm euphoria. She knew that she couldn't allow herself to mess up. As Mirela waited for her opponent to draw closer, she continued her melody, allowing the area around her to begin expanding.

'If only you could see me now... Would you be proud of me?'

--------------------

"...Of course they haven't finished yet."

Inae muttered those aggravated-laced words to herself not long before shaking her head as the sounds of Mirela's melody filled her ears. It seemed that no matter the situation, Mirela continued to be nothing but a pain for her. She took a moment to assess the situation, and decided that it would still be best to keep going. "Listen, Miu. We need to keep going. Mirela and Kalan are still busy. Waiting here would just be suicide. Now, let's go." As Inae turned to leave, she felt her hand suddenly become enclosed by a pair of hands that were no bigger than her own. A look of pure irritation struck itself across her face, and as Inae stared into Miu's concerned eyes, the level of irritation seemed to increase. It seemed that Miu just didn't understand when to let something go.

"Miu, we're leaving... Now."

"No! Auntie Inae, we're not goin' anywhere! Not without Momma and Daddy!"

The small child puffed out her cheeks before finally letting go of Inae's hand. Her eyes, burning with both concern and determination showed no signs of faltering against Inae's irritation. Miu simply wasn't the type of girl to give up easily. No matter how frightened she was. Stepping forward, Miu pushed her hands against Inae's shoulders, pushing her a small distance away from where she had been standing. Normally, Miu wouldn't have done such a thing, but the mere thought of losing Mirela and Kalan showed her absolutely no joy whatsoever. What had surprised her, however, was the fact that the look in Inae's eyes had shifted from irritation to shock in just a few seconds and stayed there instead of changing immediately back into irritation.

"We gotta go back and help, Auntie Inae! We just gotta! I just got to meet Daddy, and now that he's back, Momma's happy! I wanna keep seeing Momma happy, and I can't do that if she's dead!"

Turning quickly on her heels, Miu began to sprint back in the direction they had came from, racing through the streets. "Momma! Daddy! I'm comin' to help!" She shouted, picking up her pace as she ran.

--------------------

Inae stood still and silent as Miu ran off, feeling completely stunned. She never would have been able to see something like that coming, not that soon, at least. Finally recovering from her shock, Inae shook her head a bit and ran her fingers through her hair. "I suppose, since the harlot was the one to raise her," She muttered. "It makes sense. Her resolve burns just as bright..." Closing her eyes for a moment, Inae adjusted the pouch around her waist before taking a few steps forward, despite what her previous decision had been. Without looking to see if Nala was still in the area or not, she opened her mouth to speak once more.

"If you like living, I suggest following along. Being alone right now isn't the best idea."

Inae opened her eyes as soon as she finished speaking and began walking forward once more, walking at a moderately fast pace with one hand resting at the button of her pouch, ready to access its contents if the situation called for it. Just how much trouble had Mirela and Kalan gotten into?

Hikari stood dumbfounded, she couldn't believe what was spewing from Saken's mouth.
Ride on the demons that they spent the past evening slaughtering?

"How exactly do you think that would work? I'm sure they'd alert the others as soon as we boarded them."

Sora made herself more comfortable as Hikari bashed down Saken's plan.
She gave a small smirk as Hikari was right for once.
No matter how mindless they were, a hive mind knows when they're in danger.

"She's correct, we'd be better off resting here and fending off whatever shows up before they can alert the others."

Waiting wasn't exactly the greatest idea, but it was the safest, even Hikari knew rushing in at this point would end in death.
So the three sat in the dark abandoned building, praying luck was on their side as they regained their composure.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Feuern"

A flash of light left the cloaked figures sword as it's color switched to a vibrant blue, it's shape changing only slightly.
The blade thinned as the blade took on a victorian decorate style, lines crossing and twisting along the blades surface.
The figure quickly brought his sword up in a diagonal arc in front of him, a wave of blue energy firing from the blade.
The wave shot forward with enough force to slice through the straw aimed at him.

The man stopped, his foot appearing from under his long cloak as he assumed his stance, slashing the air before him, more waves firing off towards the pursuing Kalan.

"It seems the victor has already been chosen."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Saya's emerald eyes locked onto the feat before her as she continued her dash.

"I'm sorry....but it's useless."

Saya slammed her foot into the ground as she grinded to a stop.
The ground shook as her foot sunk into the cobblestone below her.
A chunk of earth shot up in front of the girl, her other foot burying into the ground as she stabilized herself, her mighty hammer swinging from her shoulder.

A loud crash rang out as the head of the hammer smashed into the piece of rock before her, sending it flying at the dancing woman in front of her.
Small chunks of rock flew from the chunk of street as it flew forward, each slamming into the ground shooting back up into spikes of rock.
Saya lifted her hammer above her head before slamming it back into the ground, firing the spikes behind the massive boulder.

"Forgive me....but you have to die."

Saken dug in his ear when Hikari started talking to him leaning away a little letting out a small sigh.
He looked over at Sora when she spoke before shrugging his shoulders and moving to the other side of the room.
If they were going to stay what was the point in even asking for his opinion.
He let out a small sigh as he regretted coming to his village, almost as much as sticking around these two.
"All this playing safe is annoying but I can live with relaxing,"
Pulling up two chairs he sat in one before putting his feet on the other one and crossed his arms.
He closed his eyes but didn't sleep as a dark aura circled lightly around his body.
He drummed his fingers on his arm as he tried to occupy his mind with something not comfortable sitting on one place.
"Let me know when we're leaving," he said before going silent.
All this over rescuing some person he didn't even know, it seemed like a waste of time.
On top of that why were they chosen anyway? That's the part he didn't understand.
He hoped Kalan was having just as much trouble as he was for putting him through all of this.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kalan quickly jumped to the right away from the first slash before allowing his straw to come out of his sleeve.
The distance between them was starting to close and he had to act quickly before he could launch another attack.
Whoever this guy was a long term fight was absolutely out of the question, especially if he kept doing things like that.
He created a mini staircase of straw as he fired more waves out at him and spoke.
He narrowly dodged the attack the waves taking out the bottom of his staircase as he ran up it.
He allowed the straw to collect to the bottom of both his boots as he ran up, not wanting to waste straw that was already out.
After five steps he jumped and continuously spun his body kicking the straw from his boots at the cloaked figures causing them to lodge in the ground around him.
He fired the last two with one last spin, both flying towards his torso.
He landed placing his hand down to stead himself and stabbed his straw sword into the ground.
He grinned as his priest garment fluttered before waving to him.
"It's been fun!"
With that Kalan turned and started running away from Fried leaving his straw sword in the ground and pulling out another one.
"I won't be able to keep this up...I need to gain some distance."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Demons flew threw the air before slamming into the ground as a cloaked figure walked out of the shadows a dual bladed axe resting on his shoulder.
The sleeve on his left arm seemed to be larger and upon flexing his hand it was revealed why.
A large gauntlet rested on his left arm which seemed to glimmer as he walked through the crowd of demons.
Slow,"
In one swift motion he gripped his axe with both hands and slashed through three crawlers as they jumped out of the shadows.
Their bodies hit the ground before he turned the axe and stabbed the pointed top part into the skull of one of them.
The cloaked man rotated his right arm as he looked at the path ahead leaving his axe in the ground.
"Argon is my name. Be sure to remember it as you breath your last breath."
The demons rushed forward as Argon glanced to his right from the darkness of his hood.
Reaching over he gripped his axe and ran forward cutting through the demons as he continued forward.
He stepped to the side slashing horizontally before turning his body bringing the axe down diagonal as he continued his assault.
His axe danced wildly slicing through anything unfortunate to get in its' way as Argon continued to move his body in wide strokes.
He turned his body to the side dodging the attack of a crawler before backfisting the crawler in the face with his gauntlet.
The crawler screamed before he slammed his axe into his stomach.
Letting out a loud roar he spun in a complete circle before hurling the crawler forward knocking the demons to the side.
His eyes looked at the fallen demons before he continued forward at a normal pace resting his axe back on his shoulder.
"Next time you be a predator make sure your prey isn't stronger,"

Argon walked out of the shadows and moved in front of a little girl before bringing his axe off his shoulder.
He stared down at the blond haired girl in the hat before shaking his head.
"What a tragedy, I normally don't like killing kids but I'll offer you a quicker death then these demons will give you."
He started to raise his axe when he caught something in his eye.
"Stop hiding,"
He kept his attention on Miu but made sure to speak loud enough so he could be heard.
Realizing she had been caught Nala walked out of the shadows her eyes narrowing at the stranger.
She regretted not departing sooner and avoiding whoever this man was.
"I'm assuming you're going to kill us. Feel free to start with her." Nala said before pointing at Miu.
Argon remained silent before bringing his axe up.
"Fair enough,"
Argon brought his axe down toward Miu aiming to cut her in two in one swing.

Inae kept her eyes on Miu as she continued following after her. She had been hoping that the tiny child would eventually get tired of running and stop, but Inae knew that such hopes were useless. Regardless of that mindset however, the fortune-teller continued at the same pace she had been going before. When Inae saw Miu come to a sudden stop, she let out a small sigh of relief and stopped in her tracks, seeing that Nala was in the area as well. It was then that her eyes landed onto the strange man that emerged from the shadows. Her eyes narrowed a bit as she flipped open her pouch and dug her hand into it, obviously not trusting the man. When Inae's eyes finally came to rest on the axe, she drew a card from her pouch and hurried forward just as Argon's axe was being lifted into the air.

"Tarot VIII - Strength!"

As soon as Inae spoke, the familiar purple mist burst out from the ground, forming the shape of a woman from the bottom up, starting with the feet and legs. Inae ran alongside the wispy form of Strength, taking the card in her hand and sliding it into the hand of her summoned companion, allowing her to take her full form. This caused Inae to slow down a bit, as if she had started to feel a little fatigue from her previous actions. The small woman slowed to a stop, but the words she immediately barked caused Strength to keep on moving forward.

"Protect Miu and Nala!"

Strength gave a nod hearing Inae's order and continued to charge forward, not bothering to slow down due to the cause for her summoning. Clutching the card in her left hand and the rapier in her right, Strength narrowed her eyes, her pale yellow hair whipping behind her as she ran. It didn't take long before she had closed the distance between herself and her chosen opponent. Upon her arrival, Strength stood close behind Miu, only to raise her rapier and bring it forward, colliding with the axe and blocking it before it could slice Miu into two.

"I cannot allow you to inflict harm on these two children. If you fail to comply, I will have no choice but to cut you down where you stand.."

Strength applied a good amount of force to her rapier, trying her absolute best to keep the axe away from the children. Despite her effort however, the woman showed absolutely no evidence of struggling. Instead, she kept her calm, but a deep gaze of hatred seemed to radiate within her crystal blue eyes.

"Accept me as your opponent."

Miu had been prepared to let out a scream, however she stopped herself from doing such a thing as she came to realize that she had now been standing beneath a shadow. As she looked up, she saw that the sky above her had seemed to be blacked out by two very large obstacles, but she wasn't too worried, seeing as they had stopped Argon from dividing her in half. Miu was happy that she was still alive, but seemed to be even happier upon realizing that Nala was with her.

"Oh, Sissy! Did you come back to help Momma and Daddy, too??"

Dashing out from under Strength, Miu scurried over to Nala and stood beside her before turning to watch Strength face off against Argon.

"C'mon, let's go and help 'em while the mean man is distracted!"

"Miu!"

Inae had resumed her approach to the small group and soon found herself standing in front of both Miu and Nala. The shock from before had worn off, and had long been replaced with a stern look that had hints of fatigue lying within it.

"We're not going anywhere. You two are going to stay behind me, hopefully Strength should be able to take care of him... She knows not to keep me waiting. Miu, you can help out if she needs it, but you can only do it from a safe distance. Don't ever be that stupid and run off like that again! You're lucky that I didn't just leave you both. Now stay quiet and keep behind me. This should hopefully be over soon."

"Y-Yes, Auntie Inae..."

'Well, this shouldn't be too hard...'

Upon seeing Saya's retaliation, Mirela came to realize that she needed to finish her attack as quickly as possible. She had been glad that she took a little bit of time to prepare. Mirela brought the melody into a sudden and very quick crescendo, causing the streams of energy that she had prepared to reach their peak of luminosity. Within just a few brief moments, a trail of spears shot up from the ground, extending to a great length. They towered high above both female combatants, piercing their way through anything in their path-- Including Saya's retaliation strike. The ethereal spears pierced through the boulder, breaking it into multiple pieces before remaining still in their respective places.

"You know, I'm afraid you'll have to try a little harder than that if you have your mind set to killing me. I just wish that you knew who exactly it is you're dealing with."

Giving a small yet serious smile, Mirela continued her melody, seeing that she still had the wave of spikes coming at her to deal with. As the melody shifted into something a little more repetitive, what was left of the energy from before began to gather around Mirela. It seemed to dance around her, just as she continued to dance while preparing her next line of defense. By increasing the tempo, the energy spiraled around and away from Mirela, only to form a medium sized cyclone. The cyclone spun violently and rapidly, tearing a small path in the ground beneath it as it tore through the oncoming spikes, directing them away from Mirela before it dispersed. The energy however, remained dormant within the air.

'I need to finish this...'

With this thought in mind, Mirela shifted the melody once more, bringing it into something a bit more chaotic. The once dormant energy began to advance toward Saya. It circled around her, just as it had done to Mirela previously. After wrapping itself in the air around Saya, positioning itself as a spiral, the energy came to a rest. Mirela slowed the melody a bit, allowing more spears to emerge from the energy. The new spears adjust their aim accordingly, each one of them locking onto Saya from different angles. From there, Mirela quickened the tempo of the melody once more. This caused the spears to release from their hold and launch at Saya, each one aimed to pierce her body. Mirela's intention was not to kill, but if it came down to it, she knew that it was something that couldn't be avoided. Removing the bow from Love's strings, Mirela twirled it in her hand and slowed her dancing to a stop, allowing her to keep a better eye on Saya.

Bringing the twirling to a stop, Mirela shifted her stance, bringing the bow back up to Love's strings once more as she awaited her opponent's next move.
