Raziel stood a little bit behind Beatrix. He didn't really like the idea of acting, standing up in front of a stage pretending to be something you're not for everyone else. It all just seemed bad to him. He could tell that Bea was extremely excited about this class though.

"I don't know..." Raziel started, but he barely had time to even continue the thought and try to explain himself before he was pulled into the room and signed up for the class. This would definitely be interesting, though there was no guarantee that Raziel would enjoy it even the littlest bit.

A flash as bright lights flooded the stage, and crack. In the middle of the circle, a square cut out of the stage popped up and was pushed to the side. At first, nothing came up, but a simple hand quickly made it’s appearance, followed by another. Then, horns, followed by bright red hair. When the teacher’s head fully emerged, he looks frustrated and as he took a few seconds to pull himself up, cursing ‘those jack damn gnomes’ for ‘opening the doors without him’. He was no monster, but a demon, ashen skin with a classic demon’s wings and tail. Not to mention quite a nice suit. The horns were also a bit of a sign, but many monsters had horns, but it did make his head look bigger.

“Students.” His voice carried across the stage, reverberating off the walls. The man was most definitely projecting. “I am Kalovros Rengath, your new theater teacher. I request you address me as Mr. Rengath and do note that request is the type of request which can determine how pleasant your time in my class is. Now then, let me see- Ah there it is.” Going over to the spinning chair, he picked it up, and casually placed it in the center of the circle. “Let’s start off shall we. I have no idea who any of you snots and knobs are, and in some ways be thankful, since that means I don’t have a reason to know your names yet. The only ones I tend to remember quickly are the ones who break the rules.” At his, his eyes scanned the room. “Which I expect you all to follow.”

Patting the chair he smiled. “But let me take a moment to introduce you all to Acting 101. Here, I will endeavor to teach you how to use your natural abilities to make yourself all the more terrifying, all the more frightening, and that much more scary. Your appearance only gets you so far, and if you want to make some FEAR, you’ve got to work for it. The real world is no playground, and if you don’t scare to your full potential well-“ He smiled. “You might as well not scare at all is what I say.” Another pat on the chair. “Now, this chair here is your audience. Think as if your target is sitting here minding you their own business, and it’s your job to scare them. I want you to, without the use of ANY of your natural abilities, show me just how scary you can be, and what tactic you use. And please don’t end up bonking into each other now, that’s just silly. When done, return to your seat. Now, I think of jumping right into thing so without further delay, BEGIN!”

Scare the chair!
Students must now attempt to scare the imaginary person in the chair using nothing but their appearance.
The dice rolls work as such.
Snots (year one): Roll three D4
Knobs (year two): Roll three D6

The first die represents if, because of the now focused chair, you ran into anyone. If you do, don’t bump into someone in the middle of their scaring. Bump into someone before they attempt it, or, after they have returned to their seat, or just NPC it. I really don’t care. To avoid bumping into someone, the first die must be EVEN. ODD and you failed and just looked silly. :C
The second die represents how effective your outward appearance is. The higher it is, the more effective. Rolling a one is like nothing happened, rolling the max is like you can freak someone out if they look long enough.
The third die is just how effective your technique was.
Only attempt once. Sorry this wasn't clear at first!

Your score is based on the last two dice, and once you’re rolled and rolled successfully, add them and put the total in your post. (JUST the last two die, not the first).
Depending on just what you do, there can be as many as three points given OR taken away.

Authority! Thank Jack! Taryn listened intently to everything the professor had to say, not even daring to click open her pen until he'd gone off on a bit of a tangent. Wait... no notes? No lectures? No preparation for their first gig? The ghoul was incredibly flustered by this whole idea of barreling through, and especially at having to do it in front of others.

Still, Mister Rengath had made orders. It was her job as a good student to follow them.

The chimera lunged out of her seat to try and be the first, to leave something of a good mark with this class. What she didn't realize was that her left hoof was caught behind the leg of Mort's chair, and she toppled forward, taking him and his chair with her a good inch or two.

Oh, Jack, no, no!

Turning furiously redder, Taryn pulled herself to her feet and just stood there a moment, humiliated and fuming. Her hair was a mess, and she clenched her teeth and bared her fangs while her hands flexed and relaxed at her side. Oh, Jack, they had all just seen her fall, they were all going to make fun of her--

Scare! She had to scare! Nobody, granted, but it was still a scare!

Nerves took hold, and Taryn gave a nervous "nnnh" while Abigail raised and hissed. ...oh, Jack. She retreated back to her chair, ashamed, and hid her face in her hair.

Before Mortimer could answer, a woosh distracted him as bright light appeared from some random rectangle in the wall. And out popped their devlish teacher, Mr . . . What was his name? Kalvin Ringuth? Mr. Ringuth? Well if the zombie wasn't anxious before, he certainly was now. How was he supposed to just try it without any advice? Wasn't that why he was taking this class?

;A; Oh Jack . . . He attempted to stand up and stride over to the chair, he really, really did. He was checked, however, by the beginning of the onslaught - Mort had forgotten how slow he was due to his species. A bit more battered than usual, he sheepishly returned to his seat and sat forward, hanging his head.

"Not taken, no . . ." came his belated response to the snake-tailed ghoul. "Very bad at it."

Taryn ignored the voice of the boil she had nearly taken out and shrank into herself slightly. Was he speaking in first person or third? 'I am very bad at it' or had he meant, Jack forbid, you are very bad at it'? What a beginning to a class! She took up her notebook again and clutched it even tighter to her chest, hugging it and herself.

She'd looked like a fool. She was going to fail...!

Oh derp, hadn't he already said the seat wasn't taken? Why'd he say it again? Asaaaaahdjshdgaks. His head wasn't screwed on all the way . . .

o3o Had he said something wrong? He shifted his chair from where she had accidentally tripped, blinking. "You 'kay?" Mort asked as the ghoul hugged the book to her chest, her face screwed in an all too familiar expression of self-berating. "Is first year, first time class?"

Come to think of it, hadn't he seen her in that popcorn room, back on the field trip? Hmm . . .

Taryn's first instinct was to get up and leave before the boil could continue to speak to her. This was a class, though, and that wasn't acceptable. Her second instinct was to call him a batmuncher and hit him with her book. Who was he to assume it was her first year? She could handle Knob assignments no problem!

Of course, he was right.

...but since when did that matter?!

Reigning her temper under control and feeling shameful for having had a flare-up in the first place, Taryn just nodded and pushed her hair behind her ear on one side, revealing her face briefly to Mort before strands escaped and partially obscured it again.

West had little to say once their teacher made his appearance. He might have told Calder that he was only attending this class because his mother had told him, in no uncertain terms, that he would, but that was really too much information, even for an acting buddy. Acting buddy. Peh. He supposed he should make an effort to be enthusiastic, now that his side of their contract depended on it. It would be pretty fail if his mark didn't disappear at the end of all of this just because he hadn't tried.

"We should, uh, get started," West said to the other boil, rising to his feet and approaching the chair without waiting for a response. It seemed the demon needed no help with the enthusiasm thing, even if his politeness could use a little work.

How to do this? He felt a little silly trying to scare a chair, but the effort was what was important here. First, he brushed off his coat. Humans were filthy, base creatures, if the Hunters were any indication, so obviously a clean coat was bound to scare the s**t out of them. Once his clothing was free of crumbs, West bent his knees slightly, curling his fingers into fingery grotesqueties and bouncing higher on the balls of his feet a couple of times. The one thing he didn't practice or prepare was his voice. West knew how to yell. If he was ever unable to yell, there was something seriously wrong.

With everything in place and warmed up, he finally decided to give it a go. He crouched. He cleared his throat. He tensed his fingers, his stubby nails a rather poor parody of claws.

West sprang forward with a shout, scaring that chair for all it was worth. It felt pretty good.

As West headed back to his seat he turned as he felt the buffeting of wings. He couldn't help the glare he shot at Julian, but it was quickly followed by a muttered, "No problem," as he retook his seat. That made it all better, right?

"Your turn," he informed Calder as he gestured toward the chair.

o3o??? Quite un-privvy to the ghoul's thought processes, the most Mort could react to was her agreement. And boy, was he in the same boat. Though he did wonder, having his expanded social circle (however much most of it was acquaintance via Groanspring or the field trip) probably didn't excuse his less-than-chattery self with the majority of those gathered here. Should the trip have made him open up more? "Iskay," he murmured to her as one of the other older-looking boils went up to try; he already looked naturally scary to the younger zombie. "Is be what classes for - get better."

Now was the question: continue small talk, or try to make it less shallow? One way to find out.

"Er . . . what notes on?" he attempted, eyeing her notebook.

When the professor started pulling himself from the hole in the stage, Julian moved back to the circle and took a seat. He saw Tahki in the group of students and gave her a small smile before turning his attention to their teacher.
He watched the other two students get up to try, but they bumped into one another when they tried to get up. No other students were getting up to try... So he stood and decided to give it a shot.
Just as he went to stand, though, the wrath demon Calder had been talking to stood up to try.

Once West was finished, Julian stood... But he was a little too quick about it and his wings ran into West, sending him a little off-balance. Tucking them in as quick as a heartbeat, he backed away and sat back down in his chair.
"Sorry about that..." he mumbled a bit.

Been alright. She crossed one leg over the other and moved to slouch comfortably into her chair again. This class looked to be laid back somehow. Not sure 'a... where I'd been. Levi meant the haunted house and her sudden disappearance given she was right beside Holly when the fire took hold of her. Rather than going into detail, the ghoul stopped when the professor called to them.

Scare a chair... well, that certainly was a task she hadn't tried before. Intimidation was one thing but- okay. Maybe it was just like taking that further. A growl, a glare and a lingering hiss coupled with clawed hands in a hovering stance... it was like being on SkeeV, right?!

She watched West perform his act and her first thought was that he had indeed taken her exact idea for the scare act. Jack dangit! It looked to work pretty well too to add to the aggravation. The tatzel had to come up with another plan while one of her fellow peers stood to give it a try as well. When she herself stood to try, Levi coughed to get simply exercise her voice. Something odd happened when she did this and a scratchy feeling crawled up through her throat. Continuing to cough, she lost her footing for a moment, too focused on the feeling of something threatening to come up.

This had happened to her before, but the last time it did, she was back home. Her Ma said it had something to do with her FEAR. Was it trying to peak again? She'd never successfully used her poison breath before, and this was nowhere near it being used now. What she had done was irritated the glands housing her poison and now stumbled her way towards an unsuspecting Baku. Uh-oh...

Oh, Taryn! Xiu gave the ghoul a little wave, but before she could say anything to her, their professor had begun to give them their first task. Ears perked up, she listened alertly to the instructions.

...It was a rather unusual task, actually.

Since Taryn and Mort had already gone off to try, the baku turned and smiled at Tahki, gesturing towards the chair. "Shall we?" While Xiu was willing to give it her best shot, a large part of her was certain that she would fail. She still needed a lot more practice, that was for certain.

Taking a deep breath, she focused on the chair, puffing out her cheeks and giving it the best glare that she could muster.

...

...

She really wasn't scary at all, was she?

Hoping to make herself seem more intimidating, she started to step forward towards the chair, but her foot caught on the back of her other foot. Stumbling to the side, she collided right into the tatzel who had also been headed her way. "Ack! J-jiejie, I'm sorry!"

She was about to reply to Levi when the teacher appeared. Or not. Holly crossed her arms as she listened to the teacher speak. Okay, scare an imaginary person thing? She could so do that. The ghoul got up and accidently bumped into Levi on her way to the line for the chair. ... "Sorry about that." Yeah, smooth.

Huh well the boil was doing pretty good with the task. She knew she would do just as good. Really, how hard could this be? Sadly Levi didn't seem to do very well. Huh. Most didn't seem to be good now that she was paying attention.

Holly took her turn. She popped up her hood and held her hands up in a hopefully scary way. "Boo!" ... Or not.

Raziel waited a few moments to see what others were doing. Based on what the teacher had just told all of them this class might not be so bad, instead of being acting for entertainment purposes it appeared to be acting for greater scare capabilities. This fact made Raziel a little more anxious to give things a shot. After waiting, there was an opening where nobody was taking a go at the chair and invisible person, so Raziel stepped up.

He puffed out his chest a little to make himself look larger and stood with his heels slightly raised, although his knees were bent. He arched his back and sprang forward, making a noise that could only be described as an angry cat meeting and angry honey badger. He lashed his tail around wildly during his mock attack.

It all lasted only a few seconds, but that was enough. Raziel was confident he would've scared anything that had been in that chair, or even the inanimate chair itself. He was proud and moved back to his place in the group. "Your turn Beatrix!" he called to the ghoul, obvious glee in his voice. He hoped she had watched him and was impressed.

At least this boil was trying to be polite. Taryn was beginning to notice that his manner of speaking tended to just forget entire words. Maybe he hadn't been insulting her after all! She liked to think so. He was right in his reasoning, as well; she had never been in an acting class before and had had no idea what it would involve and thus no time to prepare. She would get better. She would learn.

"Um..." the ghoul looked down at the notebook in her arms and once again had to peel her arm-flesh our of the binding. She really had to stop doing that. Having a brief lapse in memory, Taryn had to actually check, and she shrugged. "The effects of untrained FEAR usage, specifically in summoners..." A nerd? Why, yes. She looked the boil over and smiled softly, turning to him in earnest as she pushed her hair back behind her ear. "I'm Taryn."
