Luke stood observing the dancers below with a clear expression of conflict in his features. It just wasn't anywhere close to his comfort zone; even in the smaller, more reserved political affairs organized by his father, his role had been as a wallflower. There was a lingering disappointment, though - the understanding that Rosie had come to him with an invitation that he didn't want to be adverse to accepting but was nonetheless. He withheld a response, unsure of what he wanted to say more, until she amended her words with a suggestion to simply use the private balcony area. Still he hesitated, obviously flustered by the idea, but eventually acquiesced, "I… guess."

Rosie tilted her head, not at all oblivious to the hesitance not only in his face, but his reply. She simply smiled softly, placing both her hands back onto the railing and leaning forward again.
"Luke, you really don't have to if you don't want to." She told him reassuringly "I won't be offended, I promise. Watching is just as fun."
She knew that it had not been a very long time since he got back to Kodo, if he didn't want to do something, then they were certainly not going to make him. It was good enough that he was even here at the party.

He shook his head briefly, unable to chase the apprehension from his disposition. "It's not that I don't want to," he admitted, a faint sheepishness in his expression.

She arched her eyebrows, watching him for a few seconds from where she had her elbows on the railing, palms holding her either side of her head under her jaw. He had yet to outright way no, leaving her to believe that he didn't entirely want to turn down the offer to dance.

Pulling one of her hands away from her chin, she held it out to him.

After a nervous moment of continuing indecision, he took the offered hand, more or less willing to follow where she chose to lead.

Holding her hand out for as long as he needed for him to either accept or decline, though being far from intrusive with the offer.
When he took her hand, she straightened up, closing her fingers around his hand and talking a few steps back, instantly hitting dance mode when she had lead Luke into a larger space away from the banister.

With it her posture became tall, her movement deliberate and gracefully controlled. She offered him a smile, stepping up a little toward him, her other arm lifting to the side with an elegant curve. Here she pasued, swaying slightly as she got a more familiar feel for the music, swaying the hand she still had a hold of to encourage Luke to do the same.
He knew Music, he liked music, she didn't have any doubt he would have a hard time getting into the music.

Yuri had certainly started a bigger thing then he had probably anticipated,
with the dance floor pumped up for some serious moves. Bruce was certainly one to encourage this, the lights int he club beaming down onto the floor, highlighting certain aria in the floor.

The club goers cheered excitedly, spreading to make room for the floor, as dancer entered the circles to show off their stuff.

Watching from afar was one thing, but so near, the simple shifting of her posture was arresting. He moved to complement her, calling upon his memories of form. There was a quiet sincerity to his expression that overshadowed the lingering anxiety as he attempted to ease into the movements.

The bass of the music swelled around them, and as it dropped suddenly, sending a shudder through every dancing body in the room, Rosie responded to it with another ball change back, leading Luke with her, as another swell of bass build into the song, Rosie squeezed Luke's hand rightly, as if to get him ready for when it dropped and she would repeat the basic step, though this time encouraging Luke to step with her.
"With the music." she told him. repeating the know steps, but in a very different tempo, keeping in time with a much harsher style then ballroom was usually intended for. But she knew it would work. "Lead with the music, I'll follow." she let her hand fall onto his shoulder with a light touch,

The pacing was very different from what he was used to, but he didn't really dislike it; it was much easier to move with than the orchestras he had in the past danced to out of courtesy or obligation. Efforts to match his motions to the music became gradually less effortful and more fluid. Music was indeed something that he loved, though he had never endeavored to enjoy it physically. He knew he was stiff and graceless compared to Rosie's movements, it was still kind of nice.

Rosie found no difficulty in matching the dance to her partner. Understanding that this was going to take a little warming up to, so she let him get the hang of it at his own pace, taking his lead. All the while smiling like she was having the time of her life.

It was hard not to return the expression when faced with such a smile, as it was difficult to maintain much conscientiousness over his performance. He eventually gave up thinking about it altogether, disregarding whisks and promenades and progressives for free and simple motion, drawing on physical memories of spins and twirls and light, animate movements. Somehow it was almost too much and not quite enough all at once.

Emil nodded to Akira and smiled a little as he watched Luke go off to dance with Rosie. That was nice. Luke really needed that, he was sure. Rosie was such a good friend to him.

"Just... people in general... I guess," Emil replied meekly to the question.

Yuri laughed as he watched other dancers take the opportunity to show off their own moves. However, he was a bit winded and went to the bar to get a glass of water. Once that was down, he went back to where the others were. Resting an elbow on a wall as he caught sight of and watched Luke and Rosie dance, a smile on his face.

The brunet followed Emil's gaze to Rosie and Luke, gradually realizing that there was probably something more between them than just friendship. He also recognized something of the stricter forms of ballroom dance in Luke's movements, raising his brows in surprise. Come to think of it, hadn't Sera mentioned something about them having to bring that guy back from somewhere...?

Haha...I wonder just how many 'runaway rich kids' escaped to Kodo. Maybe he would ask Luke about it later if he felt up to it. After all, Sera hadn't wanted to tell him much about what had happened to the guy since she hadn't believed it was her place to say.

"You seem to be good friends with Luke, though," Akira commented, returning his attention to Emil. "Mind me asking why he's different?" As he spoke, the young man took a small piece of paper from a pad at the table - likely some VIP form to fill out, or some other promotional ad - and wrote something on the back.

Once he finished, with a few crisp, brisk folds, he transformed the little square into a paper plane and went to the edge of the banister. With the DJ in his sights, he took aim and launched the little missle, his target somewhere in the DJ's booth. If the man didn't see it or chose to ignore it, that was fine. The only thing written on the inside was a simple song request for the birthday girl and her closest friends.

It was certainly hard to miss Yuri's antics in the growing circle on the dance floor, and while she was surprised he could pull off such moves, she couldn't help but think of what a show-off he was, and she wouldn't allow herself to be even a little impressed. Still, people were moving to do the same, to show off their moves, once Yuri left...

She spun herself closer to Nate and with her eyes on the circle, leaned her head in so he could hear her over the music, "Wanna go check it out?"
