He was hesitant to leave, as if the nurse might come back and say that things had changed and they could see their friend, or that something would happen in their absence. Somehow he willed himself to follow, lacking any regard for the projected destination so long as he could at least guarantee Rosie's safety.

Walking at a pace that allowed to to stay with Luke, aware of him out of the corner of her eye, and the sound of his shoes as he walked.
As she lead them out of the hospital doors, the white and pink riding boots draw her to an uncertain stop, as she lifted her head, and just stared straight ahead.

The wind was blowing a warm gust along the buildings, along with the lights from the city around them... by all rights it was a beautiful night, how could something so terrible happen on such a beautiful night.

The uncertainty just grew, as the blond eventually became aware of the fact that while she had meant to leave... where were they going now.
She looked over at Luke, wondering if he had any input, did he want to go home?
One look at him and she knew he wasn't okay...
"Do you want to go home?"

Listlessly he moved at her side, chased by phantoms of the scene he had earlier witnessed and of the knowledge of what his friend had been subjected to. He gave little attention to their direction or to the environment around them, raising his eyes only when he realized he was being addressed - though it wasn't long before they fell anew. "I want to stay with you."

There was silence at first, and Rosie couldn't be surprised that he didn't know what to do either, where to go from here.
When he stopped next to her she bit her lip, not looking away from the dark street as she tried to think of something... anything.

After he did speak, Rosie looked over at him, surprised by the reply.
His gaze was down, he looked like that again... the same way he looked whenever something bad happened, like he was in a dark place and couldn't find his way out.

Sera was laying in a hospital bed after surgery... unknown when she would wake up, and was going to find out that her father had passed away. And Luke, who had witnessed all of it, looked, and sounded like he was far, far from okay.

She reached a hand out, curling her fingers lightly into the sleeve of his shirt.
"Okay..."
Keep him close...

Her response was a small relief, though not quite enough to breathe easily. Somewhere within his thoughts he reminded himself that Rosie had to be just as worried and upset and that he was being selfish and a nuisance. He reminded himself that the one suffering was Seraphine and that he truly had no right to feel so frantic and afraid. Yet his derision did little to stop those feelings, his helplessness nearly leaving him ignorant of Rosie's presence despite his desperation to stay near her. He recognized in his thoughts an apology that he couldn't coerce to his voice.

She took a small breath, looking back around. She had never felt so lost in her own city before, no idea where to go, or what to do. She could just hope that she could think of something if... maybe she just started walking.

So that's what Rosie did, With Perdy taking back to the skies, the blond made her way down the steps to the side of the hospitals doors and just started walking, in any direction.
"I don't really know where I'm going." She admitted. "I will... figure it out."

He shook his head lightly, a silent 'I don't mind' in response to the lack of direction. It wasn't as though Luke had any destination in mind either; his only will was to follow. Green eyes remained low as he moved, raising only to acknowledge the drops of rain that began to fall, the sky dark with clouds ready to split.

She had to wonder how miserable they actually looked, since people passing would lift their eyes to look at them as they continued walking.
She wish she had something to say, since she knew Luke wouldn't be able to say anything, but her words, were just as lost as she was... literally.

It took the blond a couple of moments to realize that scattered droplets were falling into her head and shoulders. Blinking, Rosie stopped, looking up and holding her hand out.

In a matter of seconds the droplets began to fall very in much greater numbers, and before she knew it she was being pummeled by soft little sheets of water.
"Oh!" Rosie yelped in surprise, holding her hands up over her head.
She really should have figured out where they were going first.

Standing in the middle of the city with no place to go, no hood nor umbrella on hand to defend from the sudden and increasing rain - what a dismal piece of poetry they were writing. Luke gave a small, bitter laugh, apparently unperturbed by the unexpected precipitation. He wore a strange smile, shaking his head lightly and speaking in a faint voice, "What an absolutely miserable day."

Shoulder rounded against the sudden cold of the rain, Rosie glanced over at Luke when she heard him speak.
blinking a couple of times, with her head bowed against the weather.
She made no comment in return, she just reached out to take his wrist and hurried them to the closest business that was open to them, opening the door and ducking just inside to get out of the weather.

"There..." She stepped back over to the door, looking around outside for a sign of her pokemon.
Upon seeing him she stepped back outside, to recall him before retreating from the harsher down pore.

Luke was pulled from his thoughts - literally, in a sense - by the grasp of a hand on his wrist and the sudden need to move forward. The pelting rain eventually stopped due to the presence of a roof, the sensation replaced by intermingling aromas of paper and coffee and the chilled breeze of summertime air conditioning. He stood numbly, uncertainly, remnants of the outside environment dripping uncomfortably from the ends of his hair to his face.

Returning the ball to her hip, Rosie slipped back inside, running her hand over her face, to brush the hair and water away from her cheeks, brushing the water from her shoulders and arms, blue eyes glanced around the building that she had dragged them into by random chance.

A book store.
"Well, we can wait out the weather in here." She spoke, with a low tone, seeming to always have the instinct to speak quieter around large gatherings of books. Moving her eyes from the inside of the store to her friend.

Somehow, being almost drenched in water made Luke look even more miserable then he had before. She had to fight the urge to let it overwhelm her own devastation, knowing that this would not be the time, or place. She knew Luke had come home with some problems that he had needed help with, and she knew that he was probably revisiting those problems. If she could just stay focused on taking care of Luke for now, she could worry about everything else later.

"Here-" She spoke, reaching into her bag and digging out a light blue sweater. "Its clean, I just don't think they would like it walking around all of their books if we're dripping from the rain."

He looked to regard Rosie as she spoke, though when he placed his hand on the offered sweater, it was to reject it and push it back towards her, shaking his head slightly. She was just as drenched as he was; he could just stand in the bathroom until he was dry enough to mingle with the store's wares if that was what it came down to.

When he pushed it back with a shake of her head she blinked, withdrawing it slightly.
She stood there before speaking again "You should just get the water out of your hair at least." She offered with a small smile.

She draped it over her own head, brushing it over a couple of times, at least getting the dripping to stop before she lowered it and attempted to fix her hair now that it was tasseled out of order, her new part was still not quite trained yet.
Offering it to him again just in case.

He brushed a hand across his forehead reflexively to push the moisture from his brow, running a hand through his hair to evaluate its condition in response to her comment. When the fabric was offered again, he accepted it with some hesitation, patting lightly at the damp ends.
