[FIN] Trials and Tribulations

"Yes, he's a good person," Flynn said without hesitation. "Yuri is one of the kindest people I know."

However, there was still something in his voice and after a moment of pause he continued. "But he doesn't always make the best choices and I fear those choices might someday lead him down a darker path."

The reassurance was expected, and she nodded, needing nothing to further the belief. However, his next comment drew a look of stifled alarm.

[colr=purple] "A darker path...?" she nearly whispered, shaking her head. Another moment of pause, her eyes closing a moment, hesitant to speak her mind. "Flynn... I couldn't bear to see him get hurt..."

What. Was she admitting this to him so openly?

Flynn gave her a small smile at Dove's words. He didn't want Yuri to be hurt either, but he had a feeling there was more to it with her.

"Well, you have two choices. Remove yourself from his life, or do your best to protect him. If you stay with him, these things will keep happening."

"I dont think I could possibly walk away now..." she said quietly without skipping a beat. "...He's done too much for me."

His smile softening, Flynn looked thoughtfully down at the bread on his plate.

"Then I suppose sending Yuri to Kodo wasn't a complete waste."

Eventually the waiter returned, setting their dishes down before them.

She waited a minute, glancing up only as the waiter brought back their food, then looked to Flynn again, picking up her spoon absently. "He's done a lot of good... Even in the short time I've been there." He had done more for her than she could admit to his best friend.

After a few minutes of stirring her soup in silence, she spoke again. "Has he... Said... Anything?" she asked, her cheeks a bit pink.

What was on Flynn's plate was a small round slab of steak with caviar atop it. The man quietly beginning to eat his meal as he listened to her words.

However her question drew a confused look as he turned his eyes back towards Dove.

"About what?"

Doves choice was a bit more delicate and just as refined, a light, brothy soup of lamb.

His confused look earned an even brighter flush to her cheeks an a shake of her head. "N-Never mind!"

Flynn blinked at her for a moment but her obvious embarrassment seemed to clue him in and he laughed lightly.

"He hasn't said much," he then admitted. "But I can tell."

Oh.

She stirred her soup again, feeling more and more like a child. "What has he said...?" A pause. "Tell what?"

"It's hard to explain," Flynn confessed. "Yuri and I have known each other since we were kids. I know you have spent some time with him, and I can tell he cares about you."  

[Tori Honoo]

She gave half a smile. "He cares about everyone...He's Yuri."

Flynn just smiled to himself and continued eating his food.

Once they were done he escorted Dove to where she was staying. He then went home himself to rest and prepare for another day of work tomorrow.

Though the soup was delicious, and she did eat her fill, the girl went the remainder of dinner quietly, responding politely to Flynn but furthering the previous topic no more. She didnt understand things well enough herself.

Ever grateful when the captain escorted her to the inn, she bid him goodnight and made her way to her room, cleaned up a bit, and attempted to prepare herself for the next day.

When morning came, she found herself again searching the area and asking for directions, surprised when she was able to find te prison much easier than she thought she would. When inside, however, she realized she knew absolutely nothing of the prison system in Grande Ile, and stood timidly by the door, looking for someone to speak to. At least she looked the part, now, even with Lovey at her heels.

The small city jail was connected to one of the military installations in an old historic building. It was where the minor offenders were usually held that only needed to be there for a few days, or those waiting trail, or those awaiting transfer.

When Dove entered there was a woman in uniform at a desk neat the door.

"Can I help you?"
