Luke listened quietly, gradually feeling more comfortable not only physically but also mentally. What was described sounded strange and unfamiliar, but it also sounded warm. That was a what he proper parent was, he assumed.

"Reminds me of you," he commented when her description reached its conclusion.

The comment caused Rosie to blink is surprise, glancing down at Luke.
"Of me?" she asked, a small smile playing on her lips, but she shook her head and hugged Luke a little tighter. "I wish I could be half the person she was,"

"Mm," he shook his head lightly, "I'm glad you're the person you are, though."

Her cheeks flushed pink, touched that he said that, and lowered her head to hide her face against him.

Unwittingly his eyes fell closed in the warmth and quiet, his mind idling out of any thoughts to add to the conversation. He was already half-asleep as it was, so it was a short trip to a state of dozing off.

It was comfortable like this, having Luke close, and the silence of the evening pressing in on them were a number of bad feelings had been.
It was hard to forget what happened, replaying the painful things that Luke had expressed over and over in her head, and only by a great deal of relief saw that he seemed to be fading out into sleep, a moment of peace for him.

She brushed the hair out of his face, gently kissing him. "Luke." She said, before he could fall further asleep. "Do you want to go upstairs?" she offered, knowing the bed would probably be more comfortable for him.

He stirred faintly at the sound of her voice, making some ambiguous sound in acknowledgment and adjusting his posture. Instead of moving to act on her suggestion, however, he sank down more comfortably on the sofa, utilizing Rosie's lap as a headrest.

"oh-" Perhaps she was already too late to catch him in a state where he could respond coherently.
As he moved to lay on her lap she couldn't help but smile in amusement.

"Luke, you can't go to sleep yet, you need to drink more water." she said, gently running her fingers through his hair.

He responded to her insistence with a small frown. Drinking water, first and foremost, meant sitting upright, and he was only barely conscious enough to make that connection.

"If you don't rehydrate yourself you'll probably feel really sick in the morning." She explained

He put his voice to a short, negative-sounding groan. He was no stranger to feeling really sick; right now, the immediate benefit of staying cozy and comfortable outweighed the distant benefit of not feeling bad.

She really didn't want to disturb him, he probably already felt awful and just wanted to sleep, she didn't want to deprave him for his peace, but she couldn't help but think that he would regret not drinking more in the morning.
She leaned down to kiss his cheek once more. "I'm sorry, come on, drink some more and then we should go upstairs, a bed will be more comfortable."

The frown in his features was unreceptive, but there was a building understanding that he wouldn't be allowed to sleep until he responded positively. With a long, soft sigh, he pushed himself upright, swaying slightly in effort to keep his balance and raising a hand to rub his tired, bleary eyes.

Feeling bad for disturbing him, giving Luke an apologetic smile, but glad he was at least reacting. She reached out for his glass as she stood up, and went to get him some more water, grabbing a water bottle to take upstairs, before returning to him and handing him the glass.

In the short time that she was gone, he had dipped his head and closed his eyes once more, unwittingly dozing off again, though he was aware enough to notice the sound of Rosie's return and forced his eyes open. Now that he had relaxed a bit, he was finding it incredibly challenged to stay conscious. He accepted the glass fumblingly, drawing a sip from it before lightly indicating the water and murmuring a vague question, "How much?" He was much more interested in sleeping than he was in drinking anything, and he hoped the answer was that that was the last glass.
