Sideways bounced ahead and tumbled, flipping over in a flash of fur and Lex chuckled, walking up to his pokemon and brushed the Flareon off, checking for bruises before looking down at what the eeveelution had tripped over.

Ghadhah... he would deny spazzing if anyone mentioned it, but that was a fossil! Curving shell and geometric and clearly something precious! Lex picked it up, touching the stone slowly and grinned widely.

"Okay! Lets find some more." He said, holding the stone carefully and started to look around the area. "And it has to be a seabed... unless some flying critter dropped it."

Shiny! And bottlecap... from hmm, not a favorite brand but still shinny. Lex took a moment to sit down. Okay, he should wrap the fossil and store it before he looked for more. Before he broke it.

He found the bubble wrap in his pack, he was fossil hunting, who went fossil hunting without bubble wrap and packing tape? And started to wrap the fossil up, carefully taping up the edges and stored it in his pack. And then added the bottle cap.

"Okay." He looked about and started to shift through the rubble at the site of the bottle cap. Maybe he could find something here?

Sideways grinned and started to dig to, because why not?

Lex hummed slightly as he dug besides his Flareon and paused, fingers scrapping over something largish. He carefully brushed away smaller rubble and traced the flowing lines and By Arceus his luck was in full force today it seems.

It wasn't the fossil he had just got, it was different and he had an inkling this fossil resurrected into an ice type. He carefully exacted it and cheerfully wrapped it up in his bubble wrap supplies and packing tape.

"We are lucky today Sideways. Two new possible friends."

Seeing the apple core, she placed the boulder down gently and turned towards her pokemon. "Shall we moved back into the cavern? I think we should go towards the left chamber."

Turning around, she moved back inside.

After back inside, towards the left chamber. Without saying a word to her pokemon, she picked up a random rock to look under.

After a little more deliberation and a pause for a drink of water Aulus headed towards the left chamber, preceded by Tortie and followed by his other five pokemon.

The patched Absol swaggered into the chamber - she nearly always swaggered - and regarded the white Feraligatr and the weird Litwick with a sneer. she drawled lazily, She wasn't going to have these idiots, whoever they were, taking a prize that could be her trainer's.

Aulus followed Tortie into the chamber, shaking his head slightly at the tone she directed at the blue-haired girl's pokemon. Hadn't he seen her around the training rooms? Yeah, and on some of the trainee courses too he thought though not any he'd overseen to date. Was this 'baby's first vaguely mission-related outing'? If so it probably best not to spook her off. Adam was in here too, and a green-haired kid who also looked vaguely familiar, but as they were without their pokemon apparently Tortie didn't feel the need to flex her muscles at them. "Take it easy Tortie," the one-armed Agent said lazily, "I'm sure there's enough here for all of us." Besides, having already found two fossils - one for himself and one for the team - he was feeling pretty relaxed about potential competition for whatever might be in here, if he hadn't been then any consideration for the feelings and or professional development of a trainee would have gone right out the window.

Tortie huffed and shot Aulus a dark look.

As Tortie sneered and Aulus spoke the other five pokemon spread out through the chamber and began another efficient search, each according to their individual abilities.

Well, that... was definitely something, all right. Maybe some pokemon had lost an egg somehow... on the wall. Gross. Putting the stain out of his mind, Sync turned to study - and mostly frown at - the floor, his hands retreating back into his hoodie pocket. Seriously, where did people find these things?

Something oddly shaped caught his eye and he paused a moment. Was that... a fossil? He moved closer and knelt down to investigate and for a brief moment his hopes rose - this certainly looked like a fossil - but then he picked it up, and its incredibly light weight gave him pause. A frown slowly formed on his face as he turned the thing over in his gloved hands, his initial elation quickly giving way to disappointment and frustration. This was much too light to be a real fossil, he was sure, and it even seemed to give way in spots when he pressed down on it... A couple taps of a knuckle against its surface revealed just how hollow it was. He turned it over again and, in the dim light of the temporary lighting above his head, he could make out something on the very bottom of it...

Sync threw the useless piece of garbage as hard as he could back the way he'd come. Trash, useless discarded trash; was that all there was here? Was that all he would find? With a deeply unsettled frown he turned away from the wall and instead aimed his gaze upwards at the darkened ceiling, hands back in his pockets, the trainee not feeling much better than the trash he'd found so far. Were there really any fossils here to find?

And were the having a rocket party? It seemed like it. Lex looked over them both, recognizing Aulus rather swiftly, and then the gal that he had been on that headache of a training session for and gave an amused sound. "So, is it a party to see how many pokemon we can fit in a cave or what?" That was a lot of pokemon.

Sideways flicked his tail, looking over the larger group and then beamed. He announced proudly.

All right, this was ridiculous. There were allegedly fossils here - though he wouldn't put it past someone to make the claim just to get people out here - but he had yet to see any. Not any real ones, at any rate. Sync frowned and closed his eyes to help him think. Nothing so far on the floor or on the walls, obviously nothing on the ceiling, so where--

Plop!

The trainee flinched as something wet and gooey dripped onto his face and he backpedaled a step or two to avoid more of whatever it was, and quickly raised a hand to wipe it away. Ugh, disgusting. He shook his hand off - once more he was glad he'd worn gloves today - before wiping the rest of it off on the end of his jeans, pulling his hood over his hair, then shoved his hands back into his hoodie pocket. As he walked forward, he pointedly stepped around the spot where the whatever-it-was had dripped onto him just in case more would fall, and headed further into the cave. Maybe he'd missed something... Where else would they be in this damned cave? Maybe in a crevice or something? There were certainly enough of them around.

With that thought in mind, the green-haired trainee knelt down to investigate one of the numerous crevices along the cave's interior. Maybe he'd find a fossil along the more recently broken rocks.
