Tambrey gave a nod.
"Um. Hm. I'd offer berries if I'd thought to bring any... Treestar loves berries and kale... Admittedly, he's a, um, grass type, but he's very similar in build, being a Bayleef."

Lasi waved a wing slightly, grinning in a friendly way.

"Most of mine are fond of them but that is alright." Lex replied, working on coaxing the Amaura over. "Do they have any special temperature requirements? Grooming?" He wondered if the skin would feel rubbery or soft.

<<...Hi?>> She questioned, looking over the rather brightly colored pokemon and took a few more steps over, stretching out her neck to sniff at it. <>

"Mostly it's just suggested you, um, keep them cool, though honestly, we've had success at maintaining them in temperatures that would be considered, uh, unsuitable naturally. I, um, would suggest being careful around her crystals; no matter the temperature around her, those will stay very very cold..." Tambrey offered. "There's, um, no special requirement for grooming from what I remember, so um, experiment and find out what she likes? Just... be careful around the crystals."

<< I'm a Crobat! And you're an Amaura! Kinda like a friend o' mine, but all cold and icy!>>

<< Hmm.>> She looked back at herself, flicking her tail and then lifted each of her feet, head bending down to puzzle them out. She looked right... She shook herself, and carefully approached the strange looking one, sniffing.

Lex cautiously brushed his fingers over the Amaura head, testing before giving a slow stroke down the nose where the the pokemon could still see. "Hello, I'm Lex." He murmured, slowly stroking, smiling faintly at the cross eyes. "Going to have to think of a good name for you."

That felt rather good. She pressed into the fingers, eyes closing as the touch migrated down under her chin and then her neck. <> She murmured.

<> Lasi supplied with a grin; it wasn't lost on him that she probably didn't even have a proper 'template' for 'human'.

Tambrey watched silently, then tapped a few more things into her 'dex, taking more notes.

<> She questioned and shifted, tugging some of the curling fluff into her mouth and gagged spitting it out.

Lex laughed as the Amaura tried to eat his hair and sighed. "Well, I think she is rather sweet." He stroked her sides, hands pausing above but not touching the gems, feeling the icy cold and stroked down stopping at her front leg joints. "Curious isn't she."

<> She replied and shifted, putting her front legs on the chair and arched her neck looking down. <> She pushed back, getting off, tail high as she started over to Tambrey, looking at her. <<... Is this one human to?>>

<> Lasi explained, watching the little dinosaur curiously.

"Mmhm. She is, I'd agree. Amazing creatures." Tambrey smiled, watching as Lex interacted. "Heh. At least you've already taught her something; don't eat hair."

The agent watched as the icy sauropod began to wander toward her and put a hand out in greeting.
"Hello there..."
PostPosted: Sat Jul 11, 2015 5:53 pm
She tipped her head, leaning out to sniff the hand but didn't press into it. She trotted around Tambrey once before heading towards Yoketron, curious. << and you?>>

<> He said simply, a slight smile on his mouth.

"Tambrey... if I was interested in getting something cooked up in the labs, how would I go about requesting it?" Lex played with his last pokeball, knowing that a fossil pokemon was inside but not wanting to bring them out yet, when the Amaura was playing.

"Um. Well, usually we kind of get sent the orders from whoever processes them and then we, well, we get to work on making what's been asked for. Usually the team charges something, um, I guess for use of equipment and such..." It certainly wasn't going into her wages, as far as she knew... Or if any of it was, it wasn't adding anything to them... "But it's usually hardly much, they know what they pay us and it's not like you can't spread payments or something... You're hardly able to, um, leave the organization, after all... Anyway, I don't deal with any of the money side of stuff; once we've got orders we get to work and if it's something simple, it can be done real quick. You'd have to register you had whatever was made, so you'd still have to, um, submit a request or whatever, but informally? If you let me know, I can look into tackling the sequencing and the engineering before growth and get things sped along a little... It just, um, has to happen in my own time is all if I put special attention on it but that'd be fine; I love my work. Oh. Um," She scrolled through her 'dex to locate an image of one of her own team, before offering the device out to Lex "when I was a grunt, I had access to some super out of date equipment in my spare time in one of the dingy common labs... Actually, I think it was, um, supposed to be a storage room... Anyway, Rory and I engineered her from a few different samples..." The image on the 'dex was of Octavia.
"She was done on my own time, with special permission, but, um, I was a grunt then. As an agent, I have a little more time and freedom to take on similar projects. Actually, I'm, um, working on a fossil of my own at the moment, repairing and tweaking an incomplete sample from an, um, fragment of fossilized bone, really.... If all goes well, I'll have to introduce you. So... Well. Did you have something in mind? I can probably put in the request, at lab level, on your behalf... Um, no guarantees though."

"I been fiddling with a design on my Rocketdex." He admitted, pulling up the image on his rocket dex for Tambrey. "It's a sort of fancy Milotic, they are my favorite water type and I been wanting some diversity, well, I been thinking of focusing on Dark and Fire types."

Lex gave a slight smile, taking the offered Rocket Dex and smiled at the Pontya. "She is gorgeous." The grey was a nice touch. "Was wondering about that... And I really want to start working with the labs." He shook his head, smashing down the wistfulness. He got to heal first.

"Ooh." Tambrey took the offered 'dex to scrutinize the design, seeing if she could formulate sorts of changes it would take to create such a being.
"Hm. Quite straight forward, it's all, um, pigmentation work. Very doable. A lot of pigmentation work but, uh, that's a pretty straight forward genetic mutation job... Multi-mutate, but, um, pretty straight-forward. Milotics are always quite pretty," She grinned, before handing the 'dex back "Put in for it if you're alright with them dipping into your wages a little; won't take all that long to, um, create something like that. We've got a base gene for Feebas and Milotic anyway... Um, I have a process in mind already actually..." Tambrey nodded, seeing an efficient path to the creature, or one very similar, in her mind's eye.
"Thank you; we were, um quite proud... Making her nearly set us on fire once though..." She tilted her head. "Working with the labs? What, um, kind of science background do you have?" She was almost embarrassed to have to ask; she decided she really ought to start learning more about her colleagues...

"They are, and I thought it would be nice for water therapy to have a water pokemon that wouldn't shred my skin when I hung onto them. " Lex gave a soft hum, typing a note in his rocket dex to officially request the pokemon.

"Nothing really official..." He admitted, thinking back over the years and trying to figure out when was the last time he really had a scientific class.

"Oh, right, you have, um, a Sharpedo... Yes. I can see how that would be a little awkward for water therapy... A Milotic's a good idea; good shape for that." Tambrey grinned again "Kind of like one of those pool noodles."

Nothing official? The scientist frowned and thought about whether or not she'd consider her path before Rocket as 'official'- granted, there'd always been an interest, and she'd always been trying to experiment or learn whatever she could, but it was only at university that she'd begun truly getting into the sort of sciences she wanted to play with... And her time at the university hadn't gone well; anything interesting was assigned to professors or people who could make money for the university, while mediocre work was left to students like her... Rocket had turned out to be a blessing in the long run, though along a different line than she'd originally envisioned.

"Um. Well. What did you do for Galactic?" Tambrey asked, hoping the answer wasn't 'working with/for Star'... "And, um, how familiar are you with, say, genetic sequencing.. or, um, chemistry? Or biology?" There were other disciplines too, of course- botany and others- but Tambrey wasn't /quite/ a botanical specialist unlike some colleagues she could think of.
PostPosted: Wed Jul 15, 2015 7:18 am
"Ooh, no. I don't have a Sharpedo, or any other water poke besides this little guy of gal." Lex said, lifting up the other pokeball. "And I thought so to, long smooth water type. And hopefully having a water type will curve any more emergencies of why is my baby fire type spitting fire at me... it is adorable and just so bad." Ooh Grimlock, he loved her but she had been a pain.

"Galactic was mostly collect info, return info, make sure no one associates me with info collected, watch the chaos unfold. Ooh and steal stuff." Lex waved it off as unimportant to what they were discussing. "I'm a license groomer... or was." That needed to be updated and he wasn't going to take that test.

"So physiology of course, don't think many people associate that with grooming but knowing normal functions from not is a major part of grooming. Some genetics, the basic building blocks, chromosomes differ by species and so are the sequencing of genes and that isn't taking count of abnormalities between replication during Meiosis. I guess you could work on finding out what is healthy by comparing hundreds of lines of a species DNA together to work out which genetics sequences doesn't change but that would be long and tiring work." Lex trailed off thoughtfully.

"Which is why I kept to simple pigmentation work. Truly anything but simple but probably easier to tag those genetic sequences then find ones that dealt with size or shape or any number of mutations."

"Huh." Why had she thought he had a Sharpedo? Oh! Right. She frowned a little- KO had had a Sharpedo... and so did quite a lot of other people, but she knew, then, that she'd been thinking of KO.
"Uh.." She shook her head slightly to recover and forced up a smile again, which became genuine while they talked.
"Yes... Probably not a good choice for water therapy, that little one..."

She listened, nodding, and then tilted her head. A breeder? Like those who worked closely with contest pokémon, maybe... Now that was interesting. She'd have to ask Rory if he and Lex had met and talked much.
"Well... And you said you didn't have a science background..." She grinned, teasing a tiny bit but happily impressed.
"Um, I wouldn't worry about stuff like genetic comparison and sequence consistency; those are processes we refined long before... Well, um, long before I came anyway. We can utilize some very, um, powerful equipment, and of course Metagross for processing and tasks like that... Pigmentation, though... That's the bulk of what we do in the labs. Admittedly," She looked a little guilty "I prefer other areas of experimentation and, um, have tended to treat abnormality as a by-product in pigmentation as much as a goal, but it is a very important aspect."
