"Oh... Uh." Tambrey frowned, trying to figure out if Lex had just told her Eel purposefully berated his pokémon, or was somehow not realizing he was calling one an insult... Either way it sounded a little odd. She was glad she didn't really have to deal with the grunt.
"Well, getting him to, uh, get the names right will be helpful..." She frowned, recalling the mission they'd been on. "He really didn't seem ready for field work. Right, anyway. Let's, uh, start then. Neph? Shadow Sneak."

Neph cocked her head to the side. Spins... seemed calm. Why was Spins calm? That wasn't right. Pokémon were supposed to be itching for batte... It was time to fight, to scrap, why was Spins so calm?
It was going to bug her.... It was going to bug her a lot...
Oh, but now it was time to attack! She focused on elongating her shadow for the move.

<< That is a point... I have seen films where people should look up and they never do...>> Jubilee considered, trying to envision herself as larger. She /would/ be better able to function for longer without running out of charge if she became a Galvantula... but she'd no longer be able to go in her charging cage, and she did rather enjoy that.
<< Perhaps... I will evolve if I am needed to.>> She blinked and chzzed happily at being acknowledged as 'cute'.

"That's probably a good idea." Tambrey nodded, before smiling, pleasantly surprised, to see the Spider Web performed so well. "Oh, well done Spins! Training that's really paid off!"

Neph was suprised too and spent some seconds untangling herself from the threads.
<< My, my! You've put some work in to that! It won't slow me down for long though!>>

"Well, no need to demonstrate that... Spins absolutely has it..." Tambrey grinned before calling. "Poison Sting this time!"

<< I think if I evolved I would enjoy being able to make my own electricity instead of having to charge up all the time...>>

<< Oh, you do do you...? Naughty naughty; thoughtsss like that will take your mind away from our fun... Oof!>> Neph complained verbally only, her tone and manner making it clear she probably either didn't think that, or didn't much care.
She took the sucker punch, and spun a little as she was skittering to the side, to ready for her next attack, but stayed steady and would probably have been grinning if her physiology had allowed it.

"Very well formed; it'll, uh, be a useful skill on a mission. Okay, Neph, go with X-Scissor."

Neph's limbs became, somehow, sharper, as she sprung to attack.

<< Oh! I've never thought I might be stepped on! I'm usually not on the ground.>> Jubilee mused with some surprise; she was certainly small enough for that to be a risk.

"Mmhm. A, uh, TM I've actually been, uh, saving for a bit. I didn't feel like giving her the move was a good idea until recently. She's far more disciplined these days, and I'm working her up to be a little bit of a psychic buster." Tambrey explained, pleased about the noting of what was rather a recently practiced addition to Neph's skills.
"It, uh, suits her tastes too."

<< Ohh, did I hurt you..?>> Neph drawled, rather happily, right before being blindsided by the Night Shade attack, and finding herself shuddering under it. She hissed, annoyed at being caught by it.

"Neph, try another X-Scissor."

<> Jubilee asked, concerned.

"That's the one I sacrificed." Tambrey acknowledged. "It can be a useful move but I, uh, think it gets overshadowed by how well they can use others they can learn as it's a little limited in the long run. Neph! He's protecting against your front attack, so quickly use Shadow Sneak!" Tambrey called, noting Neph's sharpened legs come crashing down against a shield.

<< Ooh! Hiding behind something are we?>> Neph taunted happily, as she elongated her shadow to come from behind.

Jubilee gave a little nod of understanding.
<< I ride on Tambrey's shoulder often if I am out of my ball, unless we are in the labs. I have my charging cage if we're in the labs.>> She gave a happy little wriggle at the thought of the 'hamster cage'; it was very nice in there.

<<... I dislike thisss one.>> Neph hissed unhappily, shaking away the visions that were assaulting her physically. If she were a different kind of creature, she might have been panting.

"Alright, let's try X-Scissor again now that you've got him thinking about the rear!" Tambrey instructed; Neph didn't disobey and from the enthusiasm she went at the attack with, it was clear this was the one she -wanted- to use whether Tambrey had say so or not. "Both good. I, um, always found Sludge Bomb very frustrating if I had to face it. Spins might enjoy Poison Jab more though if he's anything like Neph about these things?"

Jubilee chirruped happily, bobbing her little head enthusiastically like someone thinking about how nice a warm bath is.

It was an interesting noise, when the two attacks met each other.

Tambrey watched as, immediately afterward, Neph seemed to dart back, noting she was wobbly, and had been pushing herself.
Sure, it was because it was a 'fight' and Neph really liked fights, but she'd obeyed every command so far, and not attacked out of turn, or tried to hurt Spins beyond the rules of the battle.
That Neph was putting so much effort into a battle where she was playing by the rules was a very nice thought and an encouraging reminder of how far she'd come from the little psychotic Spinarak that tried to fight mechs and guns.

"All right Neph, you're about to fall over." Tambrey offered with a smile and a shake of her head. "You're next attack's hardly going to, uh, be more than a tap here and then you'll probably faint, if not before you get through attacking. Good job though."

Neph wobbled and was about to protest but she -was- practically unable to battle already, and couldn't put up the fight against the red light that returned her.

"Spins is certainly getting tougher. Poison Jab seems like a very good choice, he certainly seems to enjoy, uh, Sucker Punch."


Jubilee might have shrugged if she could.
