"It only confirms what was already obvious," Sync replied unhelpfully, his smirk still present.

Paleontologists, archaeologists, neither of which he really cared about nor knew much of apart from the fact they both involved digging up fossils or bones of some sort, so in response he merely gave another little 'heh' of mild amusement. The road beneath them slowly transitioned from pavement to dirt as they left Jinko behind them, and rolling grassy fields stretched out on either side of them. Once in a while a small bird pokemon flew by way overhead, but the plains seemed barren. "As long as it's the right box, that's all that matters."

"Oh, now you're just being deliberately evasive..." Tambrey responded with a smirk. "What was already, um, obvious?"

Occasionally her eyes, and her head, would move and turn to watch the birds if she spotted them.
"Well I certainly hope it's the right box. Um, I can't think how it wouldn't be."

The next song on their journey was 'In The Black' by Marian Call...

For once he let out an actual laugh - light, high, almost childish in sound - and while a grin forced its way into his expression, it still held plenty of traces of his typical smirk. "Being evasive is what I do," he stated matter-of-factly. "It's obvious that you're a complete and total nerd." Seriously, the music, those names, books, lab equipment? Her excitement over a fossil? Maybe a couple of those would be good hints, but all of them together made it perfectly plain.

'In the Black' indeed; a round black form lay curled up in the grass off to one side further ahead, the long, swaying green blades concealing the majority of it from view. As they drove closer Sync slowed down, the dark shades against bright green grass catching his eye quite easily, and while he was certain he didn't need to draw Tambrey's attention to it, from their vantage point the nature of the lump in the grass remained a mystery. "What is that?"

"Oh!" Tambrey's eyebrows rose and she tilted her head, watching (and listening) to his reaction to her question, and then is answer. She smirked and snorted a little laugh of her own.
"Well. Yeah. I, uh, guess that is pretty obvious."

As they approached the... mystery thing, Tambrey leaned forward toward the glass as though it'd give her a closer look.
"I, uh, don't know. It's something."

Foregoing commenting on just how obvious her nerdiness was - terribly, incredibly obvious - he instead slowed the vehicle to a halt and tried to lift himself up to get a better look at the thing that remained laying in the grass several yards away. It didn't work too well. "It is a pokemon or a person..?" He asked with a light frown. Whatever it was, it seemed content to stay there, as it didn't move an inch when the vehicle stopped. Maybe it was, or had, something they could steal. The thought that maybe it was something that required aid didn't even cross his mind.

As soon as he'd stopped, for some reason, Tambrey was already opening the door and unbuckling her seat belt to venture outside of the vehicle. She did stay standing behind her open door though.

"Hello?!" She called. Maybe this would answer Sync's question.

It seemed she didn't have an answer either, and as she got out he did as well, though for his part he shut his door after her greeting.

Their answer came quickly. At the sudden shout and slam of a car door, the thing moved and jerked its red head up from the grass, black markings snaking over its pointed snout and down its neck, its black horns gleaming and gray ruff slipping back over its black shoulders, while a pair of blue eyes still bleary from sleep peered owlishly at the pair of humans.

Tambrey's eyes widened and she almost, -almost-, scrambled back into the car.

She held her ground though and gave a very alarmed smile to the, apparently, baby? death bird.
"Oh! Uh. Hi there..." What to do? What to do?! Alert HQ of course... Tell them what?
Oh! Camera app! Tambrey fumbled for her Rocket 'dex, accessing the Agent-and-up feature and quickly fumbling to take a picture and send it to HQ.
/After/ the image was sent, she thumbed a quick 'request advice/assist' and sent that too.

She'd rather forgotten about Sync in the car for the moment.

Sync arched an eyebrow both at the red and black bird and at Tambrey's behavior and lack of response. What was it? He moved around over to her side of the car and was about to ask again but thought better of it when he saw her dex. It reminded him of his, which he took out and aimed at the bird to get a reading on it... Ah, another of the pokemon considered legendaries? It didn't look that big or dangerous though...

The incredibly dangerous, lethal, small-Pidgeot-sized Yveltal perked up as it woke up more fully, and with a delighted caw it began half-running, half-waddling towards them, flapping its wings occasionally as it moved, until it arrived right in front of them - specifically Tambrey - and peered up at her with bright, curious blue eyes.

Tambrey would receive a reply back in short order: Do not engage, track it if it flees. A team will be sent shortly

"I've contacted base we're suppose to not engage.. Oh frak!" Tambrey hissed, eyes widening in alarm as the Yvetal came charging toward them, and before an appropriate course of action could be taken, stopped right in front of them.

"Step away very slowly and very very slowly make to, uh, get back in the car..." She advised Sync as she tried to take another quick picture of the now /very close/ deadly legendary to show base, even as she was trying to take her own advice and back away /slowly/.

A frown slowly worked its way across Sync's face. Back away slowly... "Is it really that dangerous?" The grunt queried with a rather dubious expression on his face, hands in his pockets. "It isn't nearly as big as that other one, the blue one.." He quickly tried to recall its name, "Articuno?"

The Yveltal watched Tambrey curiously, and whenever she backed up too far, it took a step toward her to get closer. It quickly tired of this, however, and switched tracks; with an eager chirp, it ducked its head and headbutted her hands - carefully, without its sharp horns - and then peered up at her hopefully with an equally hopeful chirp.

"Very very very very dangerous. Like way, uh, more than Articuno. Potentially." Tambrey hissed but was looking warily perplexed. This thing was acting like a...
"Hungry baby..." She finished out loud, and tried, mostly successfully, not to shriek when it headbutted her hands. Just a small 'Ip!' noise escaped her.

"Do, uh, we have any food?"

"Way, way more dangerous than Articuno... Potentially." Sync raised one brow and then snorted lightly, "I find that hard to believe, unless it can kill with those puppy dog eyes. We only have food if you brought food," he added unhelpfully. "I didn't bring any."

The juvenile Yveltal perked up more as it seemed to recognize one of the words, and it quickly turned to waddle away a couple feet, spun around to face them and then promptly sat down in the grass, its long tail sweeping behind it and its wings tucked up against its sides as it made a self-satisfied chirp, looking between both humans expectantly.

"Yes it /probably can/! Puppy dog eyes of death or something ridiculous! It's /that/ dangerous!" Tambrey's voice wasn't quite a whisper anymore but it was quiet and strained.

"Great... I didn't, uh, bring any either..."

It recognized the word 'food' didn't it? Great. Now it was probably going to throw a tantrum over not getting any and kill them both!
But... Why did it recognize the word? How? Was this thing tame?

Quickly she made to type out and send another message to HQ, trying to keep her eyes on the baby bird at the same time.
//Not engaging proving difficult. Subject appears to be tame. Please advise?//

"Right... I think you're full of it," Sync stated with a slight shake of his head. Seriously, kill them with puppy dog eyes of death... What was with this chick?

When sitting didn't make food appear, the Yveltal made a confused, thoughtful noise and seemed to frown a bit, then made an eager chirp as a thought occurred to it. It promptly dropped onto its belly on the ground, rolled over onto its back, and struggled to roll over onto its stomach again, failed, and so it gave up. Instead, it peered up at them upside-down, its expression somewhat hopeful but more curious at this point.

It took a bit longer for a second message to be sent to Tam's 'dex: Don't anger it then. Tame in what way?
