Done! Feeling fully confident that his team was as well off as they were going to be, Sullivan returned to his feet and approached the bell once more. He glanced at Junpei to assure the Rockruff was alert before giving it a ring, feeling he’d done a sufficient job after half a minute and stepping back to look around.
There hardly seemed to be a response and for a moment, the blue-haired man was left frowning. What, was it just for show? That seemed rather silly… even at this point, a giant trial pokemon would’ve appeared to challenge him in some fashion. Stuck in his thoughts, he almost missed the tap on his shoulder. His attention turned and blinked to come face to face Kiawe. Oh? Well… that was a first.
Honestly, the communication part was standard; and by standard that was Sullivan scribbling away the fact that he was here to challenge the trial and trial captain, which Kiawe seemed more than willing to oblige. In fact, he practically demanded that Sullivan face him first before taking the trial on, which was an odd turn of events but something the young man was willing to do all the same. It was on his to do list after all…

Kiawe gave a vigorous nod, the most serious of expressions on his countenance. He remained silent for several seconds, his piercing gaze settled on Sulli and Sulli alone. "That was a spectacular battle!" he exploded, and his concentration fell through. His shoulders fell back and a smile rose onto his face, and he relaxed back before approaching his blue-haired opponent. With the communication barrier between them, the trial captain kept it short, and stamped Sullivan's trial book and handed him over his HM and Z-crystal, afterwards showcasing the dance that would activate said crystal. Once done, Kiawe crossed his arms and nodded once more. "Keep that fiery spirit of yours stoked. You've got one more trial captain to face!"

Sullivan was startled by Kiawe’s sudden outburst; for a moment he thought he was going to be scolded for using potions and such in his battle (though that was a strategy that he didn’t have much choice in implementing) but instead was able to discern the excitement from how the challenge had gone. Sullivan gave a meek smile, rubbing the back of his neck at the praise. Well alright then, it was good to know it was a proper challenge.
Of course, as with the others, he pulled out his sketch book and took notes on the dance moves to use the new Z crystal he’d earned, tucking it away and giving a bow to Kiawe with a smile of gratefulness. He’d almost missed that comment though; one more? Sullivan frowned at the thought but shook it off. The next step was to take on the trial challenge. First though, he made the trek to heal up his team in preparation. No point going in at half strength…

With his team topped off, Sullivan made his way back up the volcano. By the time he reached the top, there was no sign of Kiawe, which was fine as the blue haired man wasn’t back up this mountain to compete with him again. No, he’d already defeated the trial champion and was simply back for the totem trial. Hopefully. He came to a pause and took a brief look around, Junpei sniffing at the ground for any signs of life. It didn’t take long though as the found the way to summon the totem Pokemon of the area, Sullivan making a face as the Salazzle sauntered up to the challenge. Well… this was going to be interesting.

Well that was… surprisingly underwhelming. Then again, Kairi was a tough pokemon and Sullivan had all the faith that she could handle the totem challenge, though admittedly he didn’t think she would do it on her own. The Salazzle slithered away in a tiff, leaving behind in his place another one of those odd shards that he’d collected from the other trials. He frowned and strolled forth to scoop it up, looking it over briefly before tucking it away in his bag with the other two. Well alright then.
The blue-haired man grinned, glancing to Junpei who gave a look of delight at their victory. If there had been any worry, it certainly didn’t show on the Rockruff’s face. This was excellent! He’d completed three trials, three challenges and now, thinking about it, Sullivan felt he was ready to challenge a Kahuna. He was feeling inspired; but of course, there was a trip to the center to be paid to top Kairi off and get rid of that nasty poison. Excited, Sullivan didn’t hesitate to tug on his roller blades, scooping Junpei up much to the pup’s surprise and in a rather recklessly crazy haste, bolted his way back down the volcano and towards the center once more.

A quick pop in and out and everyone on his team was topped off and in tip top shape. Junpei was even back on his own feet after the rather rough ride on wheels down the mountain that his trainer had opted to put him through, which he was secretly grateful for.
Sullivan rolled back out the doors and came to a pause, digging through his bags and considering his next course of action. He was rather pumped from those last few battles (underwhelming as the trial pokemon had been) and was considering his next course of action. There was the next trial and the trial captain on the island to take, though he wasn’t certain his team was quite ready for it. Thinking about it, the trial pokemon had been simply luck. He’d want to take some time to train to assure that his team had the potential to stand against whatever they managed to throw out.
Maybe he’d try the kahunas now? That was something that had slipped his mind. Boy, Alola had a lot to do; it amazed him that other regions (at least from what he heard) were just straight forward or some nonsense. Where was the challenge? The fun? It was insane to think there was a limit. Of course, there were other things too that he’d heard about. Contests? Rangers… stuff? Maybe that made up for it.

Whatever, he was in Alola! Which meant he was doing Alola related things. And after mulling over it for just a bit he finally concluded that challenging the kahunas was his next course of action. Which meant taking a trip back to Melemele. He wasn’t certain about the other islands, but he knew that Melemele’s kahuna was often available for a challenge and thus his chances were good there.
Tugging out Inoke’s pokeball, he unleashed the magnificent Braviary. The large bird gave a long yawn and stretch of his wings before tucking them back at his side, eyeing the young man and pup in front of him curiously. Sullivan grinned, extending a hand to gently rest against the bird’s head, gently patting before withdrawing and beginning to gesture in sign his request for a ride. Inoke watched a moment, interpreting the signs as he’d been trained to do so long ago before giving a little caw and nod, wings extending as he turned to allow the man to saddle up onto his back. Sullivan dipped into a sort of thankful bow to the bird, Junpei giving a bark of his own as he was scooped up for the ride as well.
Once the two were settled in place and it was assured neither he nor Junpei would go flying off, he raised his hands up and quickly traced an arc in the air with the tips of his index fingers for the sign for ‘Go’. Inoke cawed again and nodded, craning his neck back to face forward and waiting a moment to give Sullivan a chance to readjust before finally taking off into the air.

As prepared as they could ever be, Naomi didn't hesitate in calling out his challenge to Kiawe.... once he found him. There'd been a case of mistaken identity when the young man had came across a man decked out in hiking gear, with a beanie slapped across his head despite the warm air, but Naomi had quickly come to realize his mistake and recant his challenge from the... confused blonde. The man was able to see the humor in the situation, and was kind enough to point him in the direction of the actual trial captain. Who, admittedly, looked the part: the bangs of his hair styled into a flame, and dressed in nothing more than shorts and flip-flops. Ah... he hadn't expected him to be shirtless, but, no matter! With the heat of the volcano warming his cheeks (at least that was what he'd claim), Naomi called out his challenge.

Another stamp, another z-move dance learned and Naomi was on his way. He climbed down from the trial site, but only long enough to have Ieyasu healed by the very nice woman acting as an on-the-go Nurse Joy (who he'd run into on his way up). Once he was bright-eyed, bushy-eyed and back to full health it was back up the volcano, this time to find the totem pokemon. He knew what to, roughly, expect: a larger-than-average pokemon, who would call forth an ally pokemon sometime during the battle, and while he didn't know what the pokemon's species was he had an idea of the typing, so Ieyasu would be handling it; which he was up to.
He was excited! This would be the last battle he and his pokemon would participate in for a good bit, and he'd get a dimensional shard out of it too! There was nothing to do but to do it, and they were ready!

Once Salazzle and Salandit had been chased off, Naomi strode over to Ieyasu, shivering from the pains of being poisoned, and scooped him up along with the dimensional shard that the totem pokemon had dropped. "You did amazing," he whispered, and gently rubbed him behind the ears. With quick strides he made his way back to the kind woman from before, and watched eagerly as she tended to Ieyasu's wounds and cured his poison. "Thank you very much!" He gushed afterwards, the Eevee giving his own thanks before he bounded back over to his trainer. Naomi beamed, happy that they'd won but even happier that his partner had been healed. Before they had the chance to properly celebrate, however, the male felt his knapsack vibrate. As eager as ever, he dug around his bag and pulled it out to read the email, from Dallas as usual. What was unusual was the contents of the email, and Naomi's eyes widened as he read.
"There is a carnival going on in Kalos!" Naomi exclaimed, and in one fluid motion he shoved his communicator back into his bag and turned to Sousa. "Will you take us there, please?" He didn't know how far away Kalos was from Alola, and he wanted to check in with the bird to see if he would be up for such a trip. Sousa preened gently, and stretched his wings experimentally before he nodded his head at Naomi. "Oh, thank you!" In his excitement, he flung himself at his pokemon, and wrapped his arms around his neck in a hug. Sousa stepped back, surprised, but quickly recovered and craned his head down to gently nuzzle Naomi's shoulder.
Naomi was the one to break their hug, and was quick to explain the situation to the rest of his team before, one, by one, he returned them all, Ieyasu included; the Eevee was not a fan of heights. With only Sousa and Rotom remaining, as far as pokemon went, and the male looked to the latter curiously. "What would you like to do?" he asked, genuinely curious about how he wanted to handle the situation. "Make sure I don't fall off," Rotom remarked, then flew over to settle himself over Sousa's back. Naomi nodded, skipped over to the two pokemon, and climbed on. "To Kalos!" Sousa extended his wings, his wingtips trembling, before flapping them and taking to the skies.

Adder looked down at the recently stolen pokeball in his hand as he walked along towards the volcano, not yet really comprehending that that was what he was doing. He felt the dry crass brush his ankles and autopiloted his way along the path, but he wasn't really focusing on what he was doing until, finally, he put the pokeball away. He'd.... open it and check later. On some level, he wasn't really sure he was ready to find out whether he had actually stolen a pokemon or not. He glanced down at Brionne, who was looking back up at him with doubting uncertainty, and quickly looked away. What really annoyed him about that look was.... he was probably going to have to use her for the next battle. She had the right typing and everything. But also, she obviously knew what he'd done, and she was about as confident as he was becoming, that it was a safe thing to do. What if that guy came back? Why was he so good at just.... totally getting himself in trouble with things.

Zoey blinked as she gazed up at the volcano from where they stood, it hadn’t seemed quite as steep from a distance… Just looking at how high up the hike to the top was from here was making her feel exhausted, maybe she had been somewhat neglecting her regular exercises as of late. While the allergy meds helped relieve the itching and sneezing, there wasn’t really much it could do about his runny nose.
The Rockruff stood stout, shaking his head vigorously and sending drops of mucus flying around with the motion. Tempting as it was to take a break as well, he was determined to grow stronger and have his own chance to shine in battle for an island trial. He definitely had no intention of letting his allergies get in the way of that, for sure! ”I’ll take that as a yes from ya, Colt,” Zoey nodded, cracking a fond grin at the little rock dog’s confidence before looking to her other Pokemon, ”And the rest of y’all?” Orpheus gave a small, somewhat shaky smile, occasionally glancing anxiously towards the volcano as he too shook his head.”I shall remain here as well, dangerous as this may be I still wish to do some sightseeing while we hike about,”he chipped in. Uneasy as he felt being so much closer to such a volatile geological formation, he admittedly found it to be quite fascinating in a pretty terrifying sort of way. Lukas and Freya, of course, both shook their heads in unison. It was a fairly simple matte black Zippo with the etched design of an Eastern dragon splayed along its length in gold leaf, Bronte had given it to her as a ‘welcome home’ present after her sentence was done and she was allowed to return home. She chuckled quietly at the memory, as soon as she had gotten home her older brother grabbed a couple of celebratory cigars from one of Russ’s ‘secret’ reserves and took her to Mt. Chimney to light up and watch the stars together.

For now, though, she needed to focus on getting through this trial, they could take a nice long break afterwards once Kiawe and Wela Volcano Park's Totem had been well and thoroughly trounced. Zoey held the lighter up to her ear and gave it a few experimental shakes, giving a short hum of approval upon hearing the ‘slosh-slosh’ of butane fuel from inside. She’d have to get more the next time she went shopping, unfortunately with these things the fuel would steadily evaporate even when not being used. And she had completely neglected to grab any refills while buying more vape juice, she’d make a mental note to do so once they found another smoke shop. Flicking open the lid, she clicked the sparking wheel a couple times until a small orange flame finally sprang to life from the tip of the nozzle. Touching it to the white tip of the incense stick, the flame immediately caught onto it. Earthy, metallic smelling smoke drifted up from the stick, carried along by the light breeze blowing past them and over the tall grass nearby. The effect was almost immediate as nearby rustling drew their attention, Freya narrowing her eyes as she took on a defensive stance. With a shrill, tinny cry, an Aron leapt out from the dry brush, sunlight glistening off its armored shell as it directed its wide blue eyes towards the tall woman in front of it. Or, to be more exact, the stick she was holding in her hand that was giving off that pungent odor. Before it could make a move, however, it was struck and sent back into the grass with a violent spray of hot water as Freya warded it off.】☆ ☆
