I just had one of those weird Tolkien moments whilst watching AMVs on youtube a minute or two ago.

It's not my name obviously, but y'know which famous person has an actual elvish last name? Pat Benatar! Seriously, it's almost exactly the same as Bombadil's 'Iarwain Ben-adar' thing, because of how some names apparently swap 'atar' with 'adar' for the sake of not making a tongue-twister. So her name means 'no father'... I'm gonna go do a wiki-search on her family life now! XD

I tried an elvish name generator and it told me Nienna... nice.
Mmmmmm is she the character from Silmarillion... one of the Maiar? The one who cries a lot? It's already so long since I read it so I don't remember many of the names...

Nienna is the Lady of Mercy. She was the tutor of Olórin (Gandalf), and weeps constantly. However, her tears are those of healing and pity, not of sadness, and often have potency; for example, she watered the Two Trees with her tears, and later washed the filth of Ungoliant away from them once they were destroyed. She was in favour of releasing Melkor after his sentence, not being able to see his evil nature. She has no spouse.

A little name-research reveals that the surname Benatar is from Hebrew, meaning "daughter of Atar".
