Animals who are being tested on are preforming an incredible act of selflessness by finding cures for us and in turn themselves (even if they don't know it).

They're forced to do this. They have no say in what's happening to them. You can't say their doing a 'great act of selflessness' if they're not doing it intentionally.

Animals feel pain just as we do. Physically and emotionally. We know physically because they 'cry' and show signs of being hurt. And emotionally should just be common knowledge. My dog cries when we leave her alone for awhile, and my kitten cried whenever we left him alone for a second. Some animals even seem to enter a depression when a child or family memeber, or even just friend, is taken away from them. They know.

I understand what you are saying.. but I have to admit that I am slightly skeptical about the emotional state of your animals. Yes animals suffer depression.. and yes you can upset an animal..however their throught processes are too linear to encompass complicated emotions and feelings. Were your animals crying? I don't really know.. perhaps you should get their eyes checked..?

Not tears, but whimpering.

Actually, I find that most animals can experience a wide range of emotional states. Lonely, playful, stressed, nervous, happy, sad, content, excited, pleased, loved, etc. You can tell this from their body language. For example if a cat has their ears back they want to be left alone if they have their ears foward they want to be loved and if they have their ears up they are nervious/curious and alert. Animals may not be able to produce tears but you can tell when they are sad.

1. If you want to know if a drug works, test it on humans. That is who your creating it for. Animals do nothing. Everything that happens are humans fault and I honestly don't care if humans die from it. It is the same as all those other people I don't know dieing. I however think that it should be optional. That if they are testing an AIDs treatment or something, they should find people with that condition and ask them if they want to participate. If enough people don't participate, all the people with that disease can die. Simple as that.

2. Again, use humans. Same reason as above. We don't really need to be removing the brain to see how something works however, most of that we can figure out without invasive procedures. We've already gathered alot of data about that.

3. Definately no. Possibly kill an animal so that ugly people can look like clowns?

Now maybe testing drugs/phycology experiments on rats that people want exterminated, NOT the ones you buy from the pet store. They were going to end up dead anyway. But the make-up thing is still retarded.

I pretty much agree with what she said. Test it on humans because that is who you are creating it for.

Wow. I never knew humans ever did anything to deserve to live more than animals. Why do humans deserve to live so much more than other animals?

It must be this Old Timers disease because I forget these things.

1. we do test on human but very little volunter, but if can't test on animals , then what we can't test people cause if if they die from whatever drug that there were tested , there family can do anything , because the person signed a waver so you file any lawsuits

2. i could help us for mental health promblem, we already found the gene that gives rats fear

3. some make up can cause severe rashes , but i don't how it could tell on a animal , with all the fur

My one teacher said that some animals they test on don't even resemble humans and they should be left out.

Testing for drugs and what-not makes me cringe, the animals don't want it - humans do, but we're too scared to go and try it because the kinks are, obviously, not worked out yet. Even when a drug is on shelves, that doesn't mean it will be 100% effective.
For the benefit of mankind for better medicines, I suppose this has to happen.

To me [random note: my delete button doesn't work on Gaia...] the horrors are out there, and it's sad that the world had to see "tumor rats" to finally say, "Blowing smoke out my mouth is bad for me." Did you ever see the inside of a chimney? *face palm* The world.

Cosmetics is out. Flunked. If people know that they're testing such petty products on animals first, shouldn't they think twice about using it? They don't. I can toss make-up out the window. Only use friendly companies for shampoo, conditioner, etc.

i think test studies on animals are completly wrong. we have no right. they cant speak, so its immposible for them to tell us that they dont want us to. we wouldnt like it if we didnt have a choice. its sad, because what if one of the tests go wrong. its not fair because the animal didnt choose that life. its basically like murder. well. it is. because your killing a life that never had a choice. its not fair. although animals cant speak, there should be some guidlines
