It causes their ear drums to be damaged even from a far distance. No matter how they cover their ears, they would still feel the pain that will lead to brain damage...

Minielf and Snow tried to move, but the pain surged through them, and kept them pinned down...

Erh, I wonder how you're going to pick open the Anvil of God when firstly it's flying at mach 5, secondly it's twenty miles high, thirdly, it's completely watertight and has a state of the art security system, fourthely it can only be opened by a remote control which I hold, and finally it only has cockpit area?
