hmm a new character lol I would but it would be better for me to just get another one going here. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be working too well at the moment.... here's an idea want to fight in the battledome? It's technically apart from the rest of the rp'ing as in your character can fight there and rp elsewhere unless you personally wish to implement the fight into you'r rp.

I'm not much of one for tournament battle, and neither are my characters really. Durithill would see it as pointless murder, Alfred doesn't like fighting especially to the death, and Psadas would much rather drink beer at a bar with some pretty ladies, lol.

Sigh* Well you can set various conditions if you like lol. It doesn't necissarily have to be a tournament fight or anything either. You could be seeing how people reacte. Or even making your character train against someone who it is unable to defeat to build ideas for new weapons and attacks.
But touche non the less.
(sorry playing devils advocate seems to be one of my attributes right now even if the thought process is like minorly there. As in I'm not trying to be devils advocate but just am....)

Well I'm just not overly fond with roleplaying fights in general. It just seems rather irritating to post only a single line or so with an attack and have to wait for your opponent to react, especially if your next move is contingent on the outcome of your first one.
For instance: Player A makes an illusion of himself where he was standing, cloaks himself, and floats upward to prepares a quick spell to assult Player B with when he attacks the illusion. Player B instead of attacking begins to charge a massive attack that takes several minutes of preperation and summons a metor down on Player A.
Therein lies a conflict. Logically Player A should be able to cast his spell before Player B finishes summoning the metor since his spell was faster and interrupt Player B's summoning, but since it was Player B's post his spell finishes and activates first. Just one possibility.
Anyways, no worries about playing devil's advocate, lol.

More experienced combatant's in the rp area of it look like this,
Every round is as such, incoming attack so you deal with it... Such as defend take the hit dodge or yadda yadda.
Then for the counter action there are two possible results. Either immediate reaction or a small prepatoiation with an attack. Plus during combat laying out other weapons during the process for charge attack assists as well. If it's something massive usually a good method is to say throw a simple fireball that takes almost no charge ratio and immediately afterword begin chanting for the massive attack. The counter from the opponent will more than likely get absolved by the gigantic attack in which his entire next post would be reaction to the massive assault. That would start them back at a standoff or finish the fight and yadda yadda chances here and there. I could train you a little if you like.
The idea of interuptions are there but let's make it simple mage A makes an illusion where he was standing cloaks and floats upwards which is a prepatory defence to buy time. Thus he begins chanting for a much larger attack such as a meteor storm.
If after doing all that for defense the mage A summons a small quick spell it would defeat the purpose. A better plan would throw a lightning bolt from his palm then do the whole defense option for a massive spell.
Player B would then be forced to defend himself from a lightning bolt to start then reacte. He would have been forced to reacte anyway because the immediate after the illusory defence would have forced a defense. A massive attack charge can sometimes last multiple turns but on most cases is a primary event as a reaction that's delayed.
Player B's defense from the lightning bolt was enough time for the full meteor storm chant. So he dodges to the side has his right shoulder singed and throws a fireball. The fireball then collides into a meteor and is destroyed forcing B on the defence. I don't know if your fllowing me too well but yeah.
