Nope, the sun is really that hot, a pinhead size of the core will be a big pinhead since the core is actually bigger then the earth

NOW, if you take a white dwarf (approx. the size of Boston) and crash it into the earth, you MAY destroy the earth. but at that point its really 50/50. All life will be wiped out, but the earth may still be there.
