Hey... whichever one of you guys has the "Katana"s
I finally figured out a way I could tell without looking at them if they're fake... Do they have a full tang, or is it shortened?
I'd say to look for stuff like a hamon, from differential forging, but that can be imitated...

Well... real if real.. I used the wrong choice of words... I should have said... battle ready... or effective...
You see... the curve in a blade comes from techniques that use clay to slow down the heating on some pars... to make the back and base softer, and less brittle... but getting the blade to be harder on the blade edge.
In replicas, this is not the case.

What ever happened to healthy cynicism? (Cynics are actually more likely to have heart problems... but whether it's the ends or the means, or even more than coincidence is debated.)

@ Kegan: Yeah, I remember watching some show that said how katana are made that said that. So, if it's curved it's "real". My sword is kind of curved, but not much. Like I said, it's probably just a replica. How much does it have to curve?
