Saiya frowned and again hugged him a bit tighter to give him her support. It sounded like it was hard for him talk about it, she stayed silent, not really having anything to say that might make it better. She had learned to kill out of necessity of protection from people who wanted to possibly hurt her. He had been assigned to kill be cause someone told him to and for no other reason. It could not have been easy to do something like that.

"They had handed me very little information on the target. I only knew where they were going to be, and what they wanted me to do." he stated, his voice going to a whisper. "I was ready and willing. This was what I had been waiting for, a chance to prove my worth and make a real difference in the cause." It pained him to admit that but Saiya needed to understand. He was different now though, knew better.

Saiya did understand. She herself had been constantly looking for a chance to prove to her grandmother that she was normal. To get the acceptance and prove her worth. It wasn't exactly the same but close enough for her to understand how important it made him feel, just to get the chance.

"I had set up shop on the roof of an empty office building across from the Eiffel Tower. The target was to arrive in a black stretch limo and would be marked by one of are men taking a picture of the target. The flash of the camera would cover the kill... A bullet to the head from 2000 yards away." Kai continued. "An easy task for an elf, the Council had said. I was ready to do what they'd ask. I was all set as the limo pulled up, and kept my eye on it as our guy approached it."

Saiya squeezed him again. "What happened?" She asked him softly, not wanting to press him but sensing this was the important part.

Kai closed his eyes, remembering that day. "It was a little girl. They had wanted me to kill a little girl." he whispered painfully. "Her father was a politician that the Council hadn't been able to get any dirt on so they decided to send him a message... And I was the messenger."

Saiya was floored. Whatever she had been expecting that was not it. She released her hold on him and quickly moved up to wrap her arms around his neck and bury her head against his neck. It had to be most horrible feeling in the world to know that you were ordered to kill an innocent simply because something you looked up to said it would help. "I'm sorry." She whispered.

He wrapped his arms tightly around Saiya and buried his face in her hair. "I couldn't do it..." Kai added in a whisper. "But I knew if I failed they'd see me as a traitor and kill me... So I did the only thing I could do. I killed the contact as he approached the little girl and then I disappeared."

Saiya closed her eyes and kissed his neck. "Now they know where you are. Are they going to hurt you?" She asked him worriedly.

Kia kissed the top of her head as his arms tightened around her. "No they don't..." he corrected her. "After I disappeared I changed my name, my appearance, and joined my father ferrying tourists through the wilderness... They never came after me, and I never came back."

Saiya smiled against his neck. "So what is your real name then?" She said after a moment. "I've been sleeping with you and I don't even know your name." She pouted at him.

He chuckled softly. "I was once Tungl Þjófur... Moon Thief, if you take the time to translate it into human." Kia teased, leaning down to kiss her. "Anything else you'd like to know?" he asked, smiling at her.

Saiya arched an eyebrow at him. "Moon Thief?" She questioned. "And if you don't mind I'll just call you Kai." She said as she nodded, not sure she could pronounce his name if her life depended on it.

Kai tried to hide a smile. "Having trouble pronouncing it?" he teased. Kai kissed her again. "I prefer Kai anyways..." he whispered, his face close to hers.
