"Well, it seems to be a very broad description you have to work with thus far. I may have had my own involvement in the supernatural, but that never extended beyond the Sennen Items and the traditions of my clan. However, you would be surprised to find that among the many frauds and delusional persons, there are a few occultists, psychics, and exorcists who are true professionals."

"Like Shinto priests? The charms and stuff they sell?" Jounouchi asked.

Isis chuckled lightly, "I said among the frauds, did I not? No, I can guarantee you the majority of charms and palm-readers you've run into have not been true. You are unlikely to find those you seek in common areas. However, I have some contacts in Japan who are involved in the occult. They may be able to get you in touch with someone who could pinpoint your spirit." she paused a moment, considering, "I do have to wonder though... it seems awfully coincidental that a spirit would be targeting both Kaiba San and yourself. Two duelists who were heavily involved in the Pharaoh's journey to reclaim his name. Heavily involved in magical affairs. Have you considered that this could be an offshoot of that time?"

Jounouchi frowned, "...I guess a little, but why would it be just Kaiba and me, and not like... Yuugi, or Bakura? Or Anzu or even you guys?"

"It could be a strategic attack, beginning with Yuugi's best friend and his rival, in order to get to him." Isis mused.

((It does sound fun; and yeah, I could tell that, even though it has high ratings, it's a bargain bin game already. I've seen that game drop in price so quickly in stores; it's still quite expensive on Steam though without the sale. You don't need to worry about keeping watch of it for me though; I just added it to my wishlist, so Steam'll send me an email if it has another one. XD And ooh, yay! Left4Dead! I've been neglecting that game too much lately, but we need to play together! Too bad we're on such different time zones. Plus wait till you get to the second one; combat is so much more fun and I like most of the characters better too.

My Yuugiou love was more on its own; I mean I had friends who were really into it who aren't so much now, so that certainly hurts the cause, but overall I think it's just... natural to move through things you're into. I mean I'm way less into anime and more into American comics now. I still like it all, but anime is no longer the focus. I think nothing will ever replace Yuugiou as the biggest, longest love I ever had, but it did fade off eventually. I still want to rewatch the anime and reread the manga and watch GX and 5D's and all that, but there's so many other things I want to do more, like finish Supernatural and Xenoblade and get through all the Marvel Civil War side issues. Anyway, I wouldn't worry about helping with the guild. If someone takes it, I'll pass it to them but keep the two of us as moderators. I'll ask them to keep all the old threads up unless they want to like... clean out ones that never got anywhere or something, so we can keep roleplaying. But other than that, maybe it's time for us to retire and just leave it to someone else, on the off chance someone takes it? XD))

Shizuka listened patiently while Isis talked, while her brother deliberated, before chiming in, 'that's a possibility Isis, but I don't think that's it. I don't know how to explain, but I get the feeling that whatever this is its personal, but its not personal to Yuugi. It's personal to my brother, and Kaiba. I'm not even sure that the fact that its personal to the two of them is even related to each other. I really can't explain why I feel this way, but I feel it to be true. Even if I'm wrong though, your contacts might be a good place to start. Suggestions on where to begin, or with whom?'

((Dragon Age has its generic qualities but I think it works really well, though I'm approaching the end and I'm not happy about it. Why can't wars end magically with everyone happy and kittens? xd This game definitely gets me invested in different people and different stories, but as the game approaches the end I realise I can't make everyone happy, and that does make me unhappy. I'll probably go back to L4D when I finish up with Dragon Age. Definitely hope we can play together sometime, time zones really are an annoyance.

I really got into Yuugiou on my own, for several years I didn't know anyone particularly who was into it. However, what got me back into it after I took a break and what really invested my interests in things like talking about it in a guild was prompted by other people. I really 'want' to want to read more manga/watch more anime these days, however I've also kind of drifted away. Busier with academic interests, been reading more novels or not reading at all, and playing games a lot more. I've always liked games in the past, but never got immersed the way I do now. I think part of that is how my life is structured. I got really into manga b/c it was 'faster' to read than novels when I was too busy with academics. These days I tend to have less free time everyday and more days with no free time and days that I leave completely empty. So I just like the idea of burying myself in a game in a free day, or watch a bunch of bad horror movies.

Curious to see if anyone will express interest in the guild. If not maybe if it's public enough people will happen to wander in in the future with an interest of reforming it.))

"More often than not, the intuition is a very useful tool." Isis noted, "If it is indeed personal, you may actually wish to begin your search by listing everything that both your brother and Kaiba San have been involved in together. As for contacts, I can put you into touch with a few. The most knowledgeable is a man named Tenchi Domon. However, his social skills are more than lacking."

"So what, is he like Kaiba? We can handle that." Jounouchi replied.

"Actually, Kaiba San is quite friendly when compared to this man. You will only get help from him if you earn his respect, and that is not an easy feat. I also suggest not bringing Shizuka or Mokuba along; he is both chauvinistic and dislikes children. I worked with him through one of my employees, and to this day he believes I am a man." Isis explained.

"Yikes, he sounds like a real a*****e." Jounouchi frowned, "So how do we earn his respect then? Duel him?"

"If you suggest a duel to him, he will pull out a blade and expect you to fight to the death." Isis said, "He is impressed by physical skills and tactical knowledge. I doubt he has ever even heard of Duel Monsters."

((Haha, that's good to hear it has a good story. I don't mind generic when it comes to certain things, RPGs being one of them. I play Dungeons and Dragons; it doesn't get much more generic than that. I just never get tired of typical RPGs and the fantasy worlds they're in. And maybe we'll just need to plan a specific time we can both play. Since you have the busier schedule, maybe just let me know when you're free? I usually stay up late anyway, so most times here are good with me. I do warn you though, with those types of games that you're supposed to just play repeatedly, I have a tendency to play them once, wait months, play again, wait more months, etc. So I eternally suck at the game.

I've been playing more games lately too, though it's obviously been since I started working at GameStop. Just being around the news and new releases and such, it got me more excited for everything, so I play more often. Unfortunately this means I am reading less, because my reading time has gone to games. Not to mention about half of my reading was done at school or on the bus to school, so now that that's over, I have less motivation for it.

Yeah, I guess we'll just see how it goes.))

In spite of the gravity of the situation Shizuka couldn't help bursting into laughter at the mental image of her brother pulling out his deck in front of some crazed blade wielding sociopath. She apologised profusely when she managed to calm down, aware that her brother didn't look quite as amused as she felt. 'Well we don't need this Tenchi Domon to be kind, just helpful. Perhaps Kaiba and my brother could collaborate on everything they've been together over the past few days and go see him while the rest of us continue our independent research,' Shizuka suggested. As much as she didn't like the idea of her brother going off without her, and she knew Mokuba would be even less enthused to let his brother run off again, she wouldn't stand in the way of any plan that might gain them answers, or better yet help.

((I agree that I don't mind generic, this escapist reviewer that my bf likes called it generic yet after 5 straight hours he still felt the desire to keep playing and find out what happens next. I also think it combines a lot of things I can't really find any other game to combine. Basically I like the whole dagger/blade + elves/mages/dwarves type worlds a lot more fun than modern or futuristic play (I enjoy those at times but this is my favourite, the more medieval feel). I like squad based combat and I like being able to interact with thought out characters who aren't real people. So while dragon age is 'generic' it also combines a lot of things I love that aren't usually combined. I'm almost done with the origins main story, but the ultimate edition came with an awakening campaign which I can import my character into (though this one won't allow romances sadly, I did have fun with that). I'll probably take some time between games though; this is seriously eating into my PhD. The funding rejection bumming me out doesn't have me quite as motivated to dig back in either, but working on getting motivated again. I have a conference I'm presenting at coming up next week and a large one I'm helping to run the 12th of June. So maybe once we move more into summer we can find some common free time. My schedule might be busier but it also might be more flexible, especially in summer when my jobs will die down and other forums, seminar series and responsibilities beyond just work on my thesis. My username on Steam is the same as on here btw. I'm also likely to be pretty bad at these games as well, there are some I pick up frequently (like Killing Floor, it's the one multiplayer game I have that I have a lot of Steam friends also playing) but most I'm probably similar to you, though I was fairly decent at L4D. I downloaded TF2 the other day and was just absolutely terrible at it, had no idea what I was supposed to be doing, neither did my bf who is originally who asked me to download it. He's since played and is getting better but my frustration with it hasn't subsided enough for me to try again yet. xd I can imagine GameStop would influence that. My bf follows more current gaming info so that has me more aware/playing more games as well. I am trying to read a chapter of a (fun) book a day but it's turning more into a chapter a week, maybe. Hopefully I'll have more time for that in summer as well.))

"That's a good idea." Jounouchi nodded. Though he was wary to leave his sister out of sight at all, that wariness was topped by the relief of having her away from him. He hated it, but he knew he was dangerous to be around right now. Plus if this Domon guy was as crazy as Isis said, he really would rather she not be around him, either. Not to mention Yuugi and Mokuba would be with her to protect her... and after a moment of consideration over the defensive capabilities of those two, Jounouchi decided that he should also ask about inviting Honda over as another backup.

"I agree." Isis put in, "Bringing two in order to negotiate with Tenchi Domon also seems like the best idea; enough people to have a negotiator and a backup, but not too many that would seem like a threat or annoying to him."

"Guess it's decided then." Jounouchi nodded, "Thanks Isis. And can we count on you to be in easy contact if anything else comes up?"

"Yes, of course. I would be happy to help in any other way I can in the future." Isis replied.

((Your preference on generic fantasy worlds is completely the same as mine for gaming. Strangely enough though, I don't care for them as much in books and movies. If a movie does it well, like Lord of the Rings, then I still love it, but books... I dunno, fantasy books tend to bore me. So with gaming I don't really like sci-fi and modern either, but with books I definitely prefer modern. And the Escapist reviewer you're referring to is Yahtzee and his Zero Punctuation series, correct? XD I follow him every week and have seen every one of his videos; he's awesome.

Anyway, sounds good. I'm cool waiting till late June or whenever. And if we both suck, then we can just have fun and play on easy mode together. XD At least for Left4Dead. As for TF2, as fun as it is, it is really difficult to first get into and to get good at (something I have yet to accomplish). The servers and battle systems and maps are all confusing, and everyone but the pros die a lot, but it's still really fun once you catch the rhythm of it all. But yeah, if you ever have a question on what to do in TF2, I'm no pro, but I'll do my best to answer.))

They ended the call with Isis after jotting down all the information they would need to find Domon. 'Well I guess you and Kaiba should probably go see this man then, you two can compare notes about shared experiences along the way, unless there is definitely anything else you need to do first?' Shizuka both stated and asked, worry creeping back into her voice at the thought of letting her brother go off without her again.

((Yea, games are definitely where I prefer fantasy the most, but it probably wins in books for me as well. Though fantasy series do tend to feature some of the driest book sections. LOTR Two Towers definitely was a struggle to finish. I think the film got it much better in rotating between sam/frodo and the major battle scenes because it paced it better. The book has literally 200+ pages of Frodo slowly going mad and them slowly trudging toward Mordor. That was painful to get through. Films I love big fantasy worlds but I equally love modern/sci-fi. Films I love fantasy/sci-fi/horror but sci-fi/horror (often sci-fi space horror) is definitely winning quantity of loved films. However, I don't like as many old sci-fi films, I feel how dated they are and its harder for me to get immersed. I think Alien is one of the oldest sci-fi/horror movies that I'd say I enjoy. It's just harder to really immerse in an older film when it's blatantly obvious that their 'future' technology is actually about 10 years behind where we are currently. And yes I'm talking about Yahtzee, my bf has seen every video millions of times and he's the one who put me onto him. I've seen most videos once or twice, though if I haven't heard of the game unless Tom is watching the video I won't necessarily look for it on my own. Bad reviews are of course the most fun.

Yea I think L4D will still be fun. TF2 I'll probably give another shot when I have more time. The servers were definitely not working well the first time Tom and I tried to play. I guess if you could suggest what might be the best mode in which to gain some semblance of what you are trying to do in the game that'd be helpful. I think what we did was some defend against robots mode, forget what it was called but we could never make it past the third wave. The bomb was always launched and we always failed. Spent a lot of time trying to figure out a strategy for that one wave (rather than more the game on a whole), never managed to do so, and felt at a loss and frustrated. I did enjoy the escapist article Tom was reading yesterday (read it over his shoulder so unsure who it is by) that began something like hat simulator TF2 has finally dropped all pretense of being a FPS. That made me laugh. I barely know the game but I do know it quite likes its hats.))

Jounouchi considered, not coming up with anything they needed to handle first, but considered once more after seeing the look on Shizuka's face. He didn't know how much it would help, but she would probably appreciate him involving her in recruiting Honda, so he spoke up, "Well, I was thinking we should probably get a little more backup. What do you think about calling on Honda to say here with you guys and help out?"

((I seem to vary somewhat on preferences. I think video games I prefer fantasy and horror, books I prefer modern supernatural and horror, and movies I like superhero, indie, and... horror. So yeah, horror seems to be the only real constant. Never been that into futuristic or sci-fi myself. I really like Stargate SG-1, but that one focuses more on discovering new, usually under-developed planets, and doesn't even get a space ship until the last couple seasons. So it doesn't feel very futurey.

But yeah, I guess with fantasy books they do tend to be drawn out and boring. Plus so many of them focus more on the world than the characters. That's probably why I like things that take place in modern settings, because there's less environment to explain and it can just focus on characters and plot instead. But with video games, you get to explore that environment yourself, so it's way more fun to learn about. Fantasy movies have the same problem as books, but to a lesser extent, so they're better to me. I wanna see Alien. I keep telling my friend who has it we should watch it, but we keep getting distracted by other things. XD

Oh man, no wonder you're so frustrated. You've been playing the co-op version of TF2, where it's originally a PVP game. The robot mode is where you're all against computers, where's every other mode is one team of humans against another team of humans. Robot Mode is by far the most difficult, even for more experienced players. I've never won a full round of it either; think the furthest I've gotten was the fourth wave. I suggest starting with training, actually, because it pits you against stupid computers and I think stupid humans too. You still have to play and try to survive, but it's a lot easier, and gives you a chance to run around a bit and learn the maps and gameplay. I believe the only mode you can do with training is capture the point, but that is also the simplest mode in my opinion. What happens is one team has ownership of three points (they're big circular platforms that light up your team's color when you have them), and the other team has to try to capture them all before time is up. To capture them, you just have to stay on the point long enough without moving off or dying, so the action becomes very focused in one area, which means you have a lot of backup. Once the capturing team gets a point, it's permanently theirs and they move on to get the next one. A similar game mode is King of the Hill, where both teams can capture points back and forth, and I think whoever has the point when time runs out wins. My favorite mode is Capture the Flag. It's a little more challenging, but the most fun for me. Each team has a base and the other team needs to capture a briefcase of intel from their base and get it back to their own. Whoever gets a certain amount of intel first wins. I like it best because it's more spread-out, and has longer-term strategies. The last PVP mode is one where one team is driving a bomb into the other team's base before time runs out. The bomb is on a cart, and the more of your teammates who stand by it, the faster it moves. So the other team is trying to kill you guys and keep you away from the cart. As far as servers go, they've updated the system recently so it's way simpler to find one that works for you, but they still derp a lot. You just gotta keep trying different ones in your search parameters until you find one that works and doesn't lag much. I'm sure it's also harder for you than for me, being in the UK. And haha at the hat thing. The game used to actually have no hats at all. It was a little thing they introduced a few years back, and it just exploded from there. I remember hats used to be really rare, and if you even had one character wearing one, you were really prestigious. XD))

Shizuka sighed at the needlessly overprotective request. However, if it would give her brother peace of mind before he set out alone with Kaiba then she would agree to it, for his sake. 'I don't know what Honda can do against the supernatural but if you think it's a good idea I have no objections,' she replied sweetly.

((I haven't played many horror games actually but I think that might be a constant for me if I didn't freak out. Things that would freak me out in real life freak me out in games. Spiders are the worst thing for me in rpg games, I want to scream and run in circles. The first time I came across spiders in Dragon Age and was still having trouble learning the controls I screamed and threw a fit until Tom killed all the spiders for me. I've since regained composure and can handle my own spiders now, but yea, games make things too real for me sometimes. I like some sci-fi but I'm definitely picky about it. I really need strong characters to love sci-fi - though if it has them it can be really good, I really love Firefly although the movie that concludes the series is a mixed bag for me.

Fantasy books do draw out a bit, but for me the good parts are worth the perhaps less interesting parts. I think a lot of the fantasy series I've liked have also been quite 'earth like' in terms of the 'world' so they don't have such a long draw out of 'what is in this world.' Fantasy series frequently switch b/w lots of characters or expand over multiple centuries and thus focus on several different sets of characters. So often I find myself attached to a particular set and then not happy with later sets.

Haha, see my bf thought that would be the easiest thing to learn on, also he did want to play together and that seemed the easiest way to do so. He's been doing training and now that I'm slowly coming out of my Dragon Age binge I might give one of the other modes a shot. I hate that bomb cart thing though. I'm afraid I'll never know the prestige of the hats, having come in so late. xd ))

"Hey, you'd be surprised what Honda's managed against the supernatural in the past. He's a veteran." Jounouchi forced an uneasy grin onto his face, knowing Honda wouldn't really be able to do much to protect Shizuka in this type of situation, but wanting to reassure both her and himself.

((I freak out playing horror games (or games with somethings kinda scary in them) a lot too. XD But I still adore them. I have a friend who loves them and is really good with playing them, so I usually just watch her, though sometimes I'll be brave and play too, though I don't last very long before needing a break. I don't mind spiders, but seem to have a horrible fear of giant hands, because every time I face some kind of giant hand monster in a game, I panic and want to cry and give up. XD

Ah yeah, if a fantasy manages to devote most time to characters, I prefer it. But I definitely do not like ones that span centuries and change characters like that.

Well I am afraid he was quite wrong on that one. XD You guys can still play together in other modes though; just try to get on the same team. Sometimes there's not enough room for two more people, or sometimes you get automatically relocated to the other team when you die, but for the most part you can play together. Or against each other if you end up on separate teams. XD The bomb cart is my least favorite mode. And don't worry, hats are pretty much the opposite of prestigious now anyway.

By the way, so no one responded in the thread about changing guild ownership, so I went ahead and made it public and got rid of join requests, plus updated the front page. Otherwise I'm just gonna stay captain to handle any big, important issues, but otherwise leave it alone. However, how would you feel about being made vice captain? You wouldn't need to do anything different, but I don't have one and it's always good to have a backup of someone who has access to all aspects of the guild, like if I died or my account got frozen or something. XD Plus then you can edit threads and such.

And, and, I need to tell you about Phoenix Comicon because it was awesome. First of all, my all-time favorite author was there, and I think I was more star-struck than I had ever been in my life. I dressed up as a character from her book, and so did another friend of mine, and she took photos with us and asked me to send them to her, so that was really exciting. Plus she signed a bunch of my stuff and was in four different panels. I also went to a panel, "The Homoerotic Subtext of Supernatural," but I was extremely disappointed, as instead of talking about, you know, homoerotic subtext within the series, all they did was list the most popular gay shippings, asked audience opinion of them, then spent the rest of the panel having people list crack ships. I felt like I was in a panel with a bunch of fourteen-year-olds, except it was an 18+ panel.
Another panel I went to was supposed to be mock trial with Hawkeye being accused of tampering with Green Arrow's arrows, with Scarlet Witch defending him. However, neither Scarlet Witch nor Green Arrow showed up, so it was just a guy in a Hawkeye costume and a moderator. Fortunately, the moderator happened to be one of the biggest Hawkeye fans ever, so he improvised for an hour just talking about Hawkeye, and he actually managed to be really interesting and funny. The highlight of the convention though was right after I had finished my last panel on Sunday, so was about done with everything. The fire alarm suddenly went off while I was with my favorite author and another awesome author after their panel. We got evacuated and the Avengers and Justice League of Arizona had also been in panels on our small part of the convention center, so they held doors for people and directed everyone out and across the street and such. They were so heroic. XD So my friend and I got 'saved' by the Avengers and Justice League, then were 'stuck' outside for a half hour with our favorite author. It was magical. And thankfully the fire alarm was just an accidental smoke problem or something like that. As for swag, I purchased a Nightcrawler figurine, a Nightcrawler bust, the new book that was co-written by those two authors, Dean's amulet necklace, and three badges of Supernatural art, one with Sam saying, "Jerk," one with Dean saying, "b***h," and one with Castiel throwing a Molotov saying, "Hey! Assbutt!" I thought you'd appreciate those souvenirs. XD))

'Well then let's give him a call and figure out a quick way to get him here asap so that you and Kaiba can set off then,' Shizuka answered warmly, handing the phone back to her brother so he could see if her friend was up for a trip, after which they'd have to check with the Kaiba brothers to see if potentially another helicopter could be taxied for a bit.

((I love watching people play horror games, I just don't know what it is about being in the horror spot that freaks me out so badly. My phobia of zombies (and it's a silly yet kind of unnecessarily persistent phobia for something not real - yet) stemmed from playing Resident Evil games. I watched the films long before I played any of the games, watched tons of other zombie films. Yet the first time I played my game myself I have since been terrified of the things. To the point where there have been nights I've barricaded my door, just in case. I haven't done that in awhile, but I haven't lived in rooms without locks much while in Birmingham. The only giant hands I can think of were in Castle Crashers, and I had a hard time being terrified of that. I could see giant hands being done quite creepy though in a less cartoony setting.

Yea I think it was figuring out the servers, that mode just made it more obvious how to start and then invite me. I'd prefer being on the same team at first, but as long as we are in the same game I suppose that'd be okay. The team thing is more about I'm hyper competitive and while I'm terrible at the game (even if that is always) I'll get annoyed while he/his team slaughters me.

Please don't die! But seriously yea, I'm totally up to being Vice Captain. We'll say in case of the account frozen thing, not the death thing.

Man that convention sounds amazing, I am beyond jealous. Hopefully I'll be able to afford/have time and have a good convention near me sometime in the near future. Plus having contact with a loved author, that's not easy to come by, even if you never have more than the forwarding of pics, that's something. Too bad about the Homoerotic Subtext panel being a wash though, that sounds like it had the potential to be a very fascinating talk. I mean the best parts of Yaoi-con were always the bits that justified that this is an 18+ convention. And that definitely sounds like a great haul of swag, books are probably my favourite thing to buy at conventions. The opportunity to get them signed that sometimes arises is probably a big part of that. Although being 'saved' by the Avengers is probably the coolest thing story wise, but yea, that sounds like a tough convention to beat.))

((Before we precede with much involving Honda, I cannot recall how much he currently knows about what's going on. Does he know about any of the supernatural stuff? I know he was in the RP when Kaiba was in the hospital. What do you remember?))

Jounouchi nodded, taking the phone and immediately dialing for Honda, deciding if he invited him now, Kaiba wouldn't be as able to argue against the idea later.

((I definitely love watching more than playing for horror games too. XD Though I really am one of those people who loves watching video games in general; I don't need to play to have fun, usually. But I understand where you're coming from; when you watch tons of horror movies, you kind of grow numb to the scariness. But when it's up to you to react to the situation and keep your character alive? It's suddenly new and different, and makes the situation feel more real. And I think the giant hands thing for me stems from Zelda. In the first one I played, there were giant zombie-looking ones that crawl on the floor and squeeze you, and when you kill them they instead just multiply into three smaller ones that you have to kill fast or they'll grow into big ones again, like a leviathan. Then the most difficult boss fight in the entire game was against a pair of even gianter hands playing the drums... and you're stuck on the drums. But the icing on the cake was another type of giant hand that hid in the ceiling, and would stalk you and try to grab you from above. You knew they were coming when a shadow appeared above you and suddenly there was this terrifying, slow 'whoosh' noise as they descended. *shivers* Those were the worst. Until Zelda Twilight Princess of course. Then there's the ones that just friggin chases you through two entire levels to get a stupid orb back and suddenly there was a giant hand I was even more afraid of. This comic sums up my feelings nicely: http://i.imgur.com/iURjzl.jpg

Pretty much with PvP, if you try to be on the same team, you will be for the most part, but probably a few lives per game you'll be on separate teams. Not a big deal, unless of course he does slaughter you on those few rounds. XD

Okay, sounds good! I shall promote you after this post then.

It wasn't bad at all for an Arizona con. Definitely the biggest one we have here, so probably the best, though I do tend to prefer smaller cons. And hey, if you go to a convention in the UK, better chance of LK being there, right? And yeah, I felt super lucky that my author was there; she lives in Canada and only goes to like three conventions a year, so I didn't think I'd ever get the chance. When I found out she was going to be at the one con I was planning to go to this year, I about flipped. Yeah, it really did have potential, but no one once brought up anything besides shippings. No talk about Dean's obvious concerns about his own sexuality or the nods the writers give to the slash fangirls. Speaking of Supernatural though, just finished season 6 and I honestly... I think I actually liked it better than season 5. At least the second half. It started slow but still okay for me, with the Lisa/Ben thing and soulless Sam hurting it, but then pretty much the episodes Sam got his soul back it all went uphill, and I adored the rest of the episodes. I felt like they really developed Bobby and Cass more in this season than any other, which is nice because they really didn't have anywhere near as much development as Sam and Dean. And Sam is actually starting to grow on me more than ever now since getting his soul back. Still not one of my favorites, but I think he's at a 'best he's ever been' level for me. I feel like he's gotten rid of his whiny attitude from the first couple seasons, and his bullheaded one from the next few, so what's left is the good parts of Sam for the most part. So yeah, I guess I'm just one of the few who didn't like season 5 and did like 6. I'm hoping I'll feel the same about 7, but we'll see, since it apparently is the worst season according to most. And yes, I actually was just going to buy that book on Kindle, but since they had hard copies there and the two authors were right there at the time to sign it, I thought what the hell. My favorite one also signed my favorite of her books, the first one I ever read, and a bookmark from a pair where I already had a signed of the other, so I was very happy. And Scarlet Witch was one of our Avenger saviors! It was her, Wonder Man, Captain America, and Storm for Avengers, and then Batman, Batgirl, and Robin for Justice League. Even more awesomely, Robin seemed to take full charge and directed all the superheroes from both teams on what to do, and shouted directions for the convention goers.))

((Sadly that made me have to go look at page one because I realised I couldn't remember who was playing Honda. As it's me that is even sadder. However I scrolled through the story a bit and I don't think Honda knows anything about the supernatural stuff. I think the last time he was in the story was at the Kabia mansion and he knew something weird was going on, but he was told nothing and he never thought 'supernatural' weird, just 'why the hell is Jou feeling a need to stick with Kaiba' weird. I think Shizuka and then Yuugi were the first reveals on 'something supernatural was going on', with Mokuba unhappily being filled in by not his own brother later. So he'll know about the Kaiba/Jounouchi hospitalisation, and the problems with Shizuka showing up, but not any of the supernatural stuff or even that Shizuka/Jounouchi's mom had an accident and they have all flown off to see her, now with Yuugi in tow.

I also see that I was using Hiroto when I played him in the story, which I no longer like so I'll use Honda, but let me know if the switch bugs you. However, as neither of us could really remember what was going on with him I don't think it'll be too noticeable. My original desire to refer to people by their first names when they are 'in their own head' as that is what seems logical to me has been trumped by I just don't ever call him Hiroto, Tristan maybe, but not Hiroto.))

Honda glanced at his phone and almost didn't answer the unknown number. However, after years of friendship with Jounouchi who had never owned a cell and frequently called from borrowed devices and payphones, Honda didn't want to take the chance that he'd be hanging up on him. Particularly as things had been so weird lately and he was worried about the guy. 'Hello?' he answered questioningly, hoping that it really would prove to be Jounouchi.

((I too rather love watching games, often times more than playing. If it's a good story based game I find that easily just as fun to watch, if it isn't I still enjoy watching those games as much as I'd enjoy playing a non-story game. With few exceptions. Shooters aren't often very fun to watch. Dying when I'm the character definitely feels more real, and I think it gets more frustratingly intense for me in story based/rpg/you are a character and not merely controlling a tool to push buttons and reach levers game. Heh, cute comic though, I definitely get the feeling. I definitely hate any object that is chasing me and my objective is just to run away or die. Boulders for some reason bother me the most. The first game I really got into was Crash Bandicoot back when I was 9, and each game has at least 2-3 levels where you are being chased by something. However, it's the being chased by a boulder that I find more nerve wracking than being chased by a giant bear or dinosaur (other possible chasers). I guess even though I can't fight chaser types if they are characters they still feel like 'enemies' rather than looming natural disaster. In films it's always been natural disasters that make me really uncomfortable, and I think that fear in games kind of relates in. Horror movies rarely feel realistic (even slasher movies because while serial killers are real - though not generally supernaturally strong ones - they are full of token people rather than realistic people), where even badly done natural disaster movies have some element of maybe that could happen. I do think even in Castle Crashers there is something creepy about fingers reaching for me though.

I'll hope that even if I suck my team is better than his. razz

I feel so honoured to be 'vice captain', even if it is in a not so active guild. Ah titles.

I do prefer smaller cons as well, they can be much more efficiently oraganised, though larger ones have more options of what to do/who is there. The only UK con I've gone to has not had LK in attendance yet so far as I'm aware, but maybe. It's run for 3 years but this year went on hiatus and won't be back until 2014, so depending on how finances look then maybe I'll give it another shot then, esp if LK is scheduled to appear. Do let me know what you think about season 7, 6/7 are blurred a bit for me (so don't want to talk to much about 6 and actually find I'm spoiling 7) which to be fair is probably a lot of why 6 doesn't come off as well for me as I do think there probably is a lot in 6 that I liked. I'll have to catch up on Season 8 sometime soon, I hope. I think I'm tech back in Feb/March, I started catching up at the end of April but that's dropped off again because I've been so busy. And yea I love physical books so much, even if I'd bought it on an ereader (assuming I had one) I'd definitely feel it'd be worth to buy a hard copy if I could get it a favourite author to sign it. And take charge Robin!! Oh I <3 it so, I always have such a soft spot for Robin, though that's probably a lot of the homoerotic subtext that both crops up around him and gets imposed on him.))

((Ah, thank you for looking into that for us and verifying what Honda knows. That will make conversing as Jounouchi easier. XD

I do not mind the change at all; I actually prefer Honda since that's how I always refer to him anyway. Just got used to using last names for those characters that usually go by last name in the show. Kaiba, Jounouchi, Honda, Otogi, and Bakura mostly.))

"Honda, hey it's me." Jounouchi said as soon as his friend answered, not even announcing his name since he knew the other would recognize his voice and tone, "So um... a lot's happened lately, and I got a favor to ask you." he began a bit warily, not knowing how he was going to explain this. Worse yet, he was beginning to recall the crush Honda had had on Shizuka in the past, and how he would take advantage of time alone with her away from Jounouchi. It hadn't been as bad since Shizuka returned to her city, but it was still enough to start giving Jounouchi second thoughts.

((For me I prefer playing long, drawn-out exploration games and watching more fast-paced, actiony games. I get too stressed out from playing faster stuff. Oh, and the hands that chase you in Zelda actually don't kill you; they just take the orb you need to bring to the level exit and bring it back to the beginning. So somehow it's worse than dying. And I realized earlier I said leviathan for a metaphor about the big hand splitting into more smaller hands and then growing back into big ones instead of hydra... too much Supernatural on the brain, apparently. I've never played Crash, but I've seen playthroughs of the first two games, so definitely know what you're talking about. Though I think there seem to be far worse levels in that series. What always scares me the most in movies are accidental deaths; that seems more possible than most other things.

Congratulations new vice captain!

I always get so stressed trying to schedule everything I want to do at larger cons, and can never fit it all in, so I prefer smaller where it has less options. And so far I'm like five or six episodes into season seven, and so far I feel very similarly for it how I did for the end of season six. It still doesn't feel as 'oh no worst case scenario' as season five, which is I think why I didn't care for it as much; it just got too sad and exhausting. I'm sad for Castiel being 'dead,' but at the same time I know enough to know he's not really, or at least comes back, but I feel like seven is really finally starting to bring some of the old Sam/Dean brother relationship back, and that had been missing since Dean went to hell. And most of its episodes have been individual ones for ghosts and stuff so far, which I appreciate. I like the leviathans too; they're not very scary, but they're quirky and amusing, and their simplicity is kind of refreshing. I like how they react to and feel about humans and their modern society. Though when they do their little dragon roar or whatever they look retarded. But anyway, so far so good. I am currently at the point where they have just figured out how to 'kill' leviathans, with the borax and decapitation, so you can spoil up till there. I do prefer physical books as well, but am just utterly out of bookshelf room, so an eReader is nice to have. Robin was pretty epic. I really am not a fan of Batman, but have always loved Robin too, and quite agree on your feelings for him.))

((Yea part of watching the show dubbed sometimes and subbed at other times means I'm used to a weird mix of different things. However, I tend to refer to him as Honda or Tristan (depending on the forum/context) and definitely not Hiroto or Taylor. Plus I'm always unsure of how I want to refer to siblings because obviously they'll share a last name.))

'Glad to hear from you man I was definitely starting to worry. I wandered back to Kabia's place to check on you and you weren't there. Just let me know what you need I'll do whatever I can to help,' Honda stated, glad that he had decided to answer the call.

((I hate redoing mundane tasks so that is definitely worse than dying. I was a bit confused by the Leviathan metaphor as while I know they regenerate I don't typically think of them budding like that, but eh I understood what you meant and went with it. smile There are worse levels, but none that really make me feel as uncomfortable as running from something. Accidental deaths make me sad and sometimes frustrated but they never really scare me. I suppose while they seem quite possible they don't seem worth fearing. I can fear thousands to millions getting killed en mass as I can identify with 'if I were in that situation there's really no escape,' whereas I can always rationalise an accidental death by not identifying with the character who experiences it. I can't think of many (I say many but atm I can't think of any) characters I've felt a strong connection/affinity toward who've been taken out in that way.

I do like how the brother relationship is starting to reform after shifting away from it for so long, I think that's the one thing I really do like as the series is progressing. And Bobby has some great moments in season 7, got to love Bobby. I just kept buying more bookshelves when I ran out of space, I've yet to run out of room for shelving. Atm though, without any real idea of where I'd want to put down roots I rarely want to buy books as they are not fun things to cart about. The cost of shipping books around the world doesn't necessarily equal the cost of replacing them.

I'm now going to cheekily shift the other conversation threads over here as Morgey seems to have slipped out again for a bit. Also easy to do as this should be brief. In relation to the Iron Man stuff I have no more but a *nod in agreement*. I'll definitely be making a statement, including some stuff that come up at the meeting just to have it well formatted in writing. Now that I know a bit more about who is on the panel I can tailor a statement to my audience and what their thoughts and sympathies might be. My bf coincidentally finished his Iron Man/Avengers thing (still not sure what he was watching) and started watching WatXM without me yesterday. :'( He said he'll re-watch the 5 or so episodes he's already in but I'm now annoyed and will probably just sulk and avoid it for awhile because why would he honestly want to re-watch something literally a day or so after watching it. He started with EVO but couldn't get into it. Le sigh.))

((I never got the people who refer to him as 'Taylor.' Like it makes sense if they're writing from dub Kaiba's point of view and referring to him, because he's a jerk and just refers to people by their last names anyway. But as a fan of an Americanized character that always goes by his first name? That's just weird. Thankfully Yuugiou makes siblings easy to identify in the Japanese version, as they always refer to Mokuba and Shizuka by first names. And then with foreign characters like Malik, Isis, and Rishid, they always refer to them by first name since, well... Japan gets how weird it is more often referring to people by last name. ))

"Sorry to make you worry. There's been... a lot going on. Okay, first of all, before I tell you, I want you to think back on when we had the other Yuugi here and all the crazy stuff we went through back then, right? I want you to go back to that mentality and think with that kind of open mind that had dealt with weird stuff before." Jounouchi began.

((But it's not mundane; it's terrifying the entire time, which is even worse! XD Yeah, I derped. Hydra metaphor is far superior. Even if I don't feel attached to a character, I have a much easier time relating to an individual than a mass of people, even though it would be far more likely to be grouped into that mass during a catastrophic event. Accidents still seem more likely to me though, because they're something that happen every day in real life.

Yeah, like in the most recent episodes, Sam and Dean have been doing their whole whining to each other about opening up thing, but then both keeping their own secrets and being all stupid about it, and I realized how much I had missed their codependent, pathetic relationship. XD And yeah I feel like Bobby has also become another main stay, like Cass, where he's involved more often than not. It used to be they just got him involved a few episodes per season, but now they pretty much are living with him whenever they're not on a case. And his relationship with the sheriff is adorable. I need to remember her name; I like her a lot. Oh, and I am in a bit of a different situation in that not only are my bookshelves completely full, but my room is so full of stuff too that I literally have my cat post and toys and hut and stuff blocking my closet, because there's just nowhere else for them. I have no room for more bookshelves, unfortunately.

Haha, sounds good. I think the Iron Man/Avengers thing you're mentioning is Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, which is also one I would highly recommend. It probably focuses on Iron Man just slightly more than the other Avengers, but not enough to make him the main character or anything. He also somehow starts out even more selfish and whiny than movie Stark, but he has a lot of improvement throughout the series, and by the end almost resembles more comic Stark. But anyway, that series is great because it has tons of characters and development, and it really does a good job of covering most of the main events from the comics for the Avengers in a simpler and more focused way. The only big one it didn't cover that took place before the series was made was Civil War. Unfortunately, the series did get cancelled after two seasons, so the ending was very, very rushed because they wanted to tie up all the loose ends so much, and they pretty much did. Also, the first two episodes suck, but it gets better by the third and then keeps going uphill from there. But yeah, Earth's Mightiest Heroes is also on Netflix and is a really good, easier way to get perspective on the comic events and less popular Avengers characters. And I think you should make him rewatch the first five with you right away to punish him. XD Or make him wait while you catch up, then you can watch it together.))
