Biohazard EXTREME NotteRequiem I said pop culture, which includes videogames. So you'd want to give back Resident Evil 2 and Parasite Eve? You're a worse masochist than I thought. There's also music, which included Spice Girls, B*Witched, N'Sync, and many other terrible boy and girl 'bands'. Video Games, too, though. Sure, we had gems like RE2 and PE, but we also had crappy games like Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Is there a reason you're being an a*****e? Did your knickers get into a twist, dear?

AngelaAshford NotteRequiem Lol, I think I'm the only one who didn't do this... and I don't know if I will either. I'd like to forget about 2008 pop culture, it just didn't do it for me. ... I miss the '90's.... crying Same here. sad And here...
I've never played OoT, so I'm staying out of this potential argument...

Okay. Okay. Deep breaths. Just take deep bre-- Oh who am I kidding?
C'mon, Bio. That's really a d**k move to say something like that, and I think you know it.
Did you really just say that it's a shitty game? Really? Favorite game aside, that game was such a technical achievement that it's not even funny. It basically invented industry-standard features of games that you so enjoy today. Lock-on targeting, context-sensitive actions... I believe someone called it a "walking patent office".
It was, size-wise, the biggest game Nintendo had made to date. 7 huge, inventive dungeons/temples, 8 if you count Ganon's Castle, the absolutely sprawling Hyrule Field, the sidequests, the minigames, etc. Even not putting in the fun factor, that game was/is a technical masterpiece.
As for the fun factor, the game is just... well, fun. Nothing shitty about blowing up a giant lizard by tossing bombs into its mouth, then getting sucked up by a giant fish and ******** up its tumor. And let's not forget the challenges that game posed, particularly in the oft-mentioned Water Temple. The different weapons and items at your disposal really diversified your method of monster removal, from simple hack 'n' slash to exploding with bombs to crushing with the almighty Megaton Hammer, etc. The puzzles were rather thought-out, too (again with the Water Temple and changing the water levels, or the Shadow Temple and its hidden secrets).
Although I will admit, Navi could've been much less annoying. Other than that though... really? Did Shigeru Miyamoto replace Mikami as Hitler and I'm supporting the Nazis again?
And Vankala... W-why...? crying

Sorry if my comment about never playing it made it sound like I had no interest in it. sweatdrop

Whoa, whoa, whoa... I don't see how a differing opinion constitutes as being an a*****e.
I agree with Bio somewhat. Now, I'm not saying that Ocarina of Time is a total piece of s**t or anything, but I can say that it didn't really hold my interest. Now, I love the old classic Zelda games, as well as the classic side-scroller Mario games, but their 3D incarnations just don't do it for me. ((On a side-note. My gay friend actually has an Ocarina of Time replica, and plays the Song of Time on it. xD))
Innovation is good and all, but that doesn't necessarily mean you have to like the game. Like, how many people here actually like Alone in the Dark? Or have even played it? Or even appreciate it for what it did? How about Resident Evil 4? Haha, I know there are a few of you who don't like that game. xd But the fact of the matter is that RE4 was very innovative and influential. Gears of War is a prime example. The developers even acknowledged that fact. RE4's influence can even be seen in the latest MGS.
It's like The Beatles. I don't really care for their music (okay, 2 songs -_-). There was a time when I absolutely despised them, because my brother and his girlfriend played them non-stop 24/7. I would express my absolute hatred for the band to them openly any chance I got. But they told me that there was no way I couldn't like The Beatles, because they were the first to use sampling in their music. I listen to a lot of rap, and sampling is pretty much intrinsic to genre. But does that mean I have to like The Beatles? No. I still think they're the most overrated band, ever, in the existence of mankind. But I will acknowledge their influence.
"My contribution is first. I don’t care who’s better, who’s worse. My contribution is first. I don’t care who does it later, who does it better, who does whatever... because first is forever.” - Grandmaster Flash, FTW!
