Amara-chan is right in that fetishes become disorders once they start impeding on the person's ability to function normally in their daily lives, which includes sex. Now if someone could NOT get sexually excited without the whips and chains, THEN I would say it'd be classified as a disorder... sweatdrop

You know other kinds of sexual deviants (ex. rapists) have issues with power that drives them to be sexually aroused by power in a similar way. , according to the APA, "consensual sadomasochism can no longer be considered a disorder unless it causes severe difficulties in the patient's life.", so it is not. wink ...and it's just silly to equate someone who likes fuzzy handcuffs with a rapist. stare So if you find someone to do it to willingly makes it ok? Do you not see the fallacy in that? They only made exceptions because of political pressure from the BDSM community riding the coattails of the homosexual movement which claimed that they too were a oppressed minority group, that's the only reason they made that exception. So if the only thing that makes it wrong is to do it with someone unconsentingly. If the non-consent is the reason its wrong why give it the name sadomasochism in the first place why not just make a disorder where you make anything done without consent a disorder. Why is that because its the sadomasochism part that's the illness. Soon every form of psycho-sexual disorder will no longer be a disorder but something that is naturally occurring in small groups of people making them an oppressed minority and given legal status for nothing more then to try to appease this country's ever widening political correctness. Not equating them to rapists rather comparing the VERY real similarities which is undeniable.

Now if someone could NOT get sexually excited without the whips and chains, THEN I would say it'd be classified as a disorder... sweatdrop That's not the original reason for it being a disorder, they only changed it because of political pressure, actually that is why people don't trust psychiatry anymore, they change things because of political pressure (which is a very bad reason), everything else (outside of the sexual activities) is quickly becoming a disorder, and the excessive force feeding of drugs (which they the scientists themselves will agree they have no real way to tell if they work in the first place) for every little thing even to the point of completely over medicating the nation's children. The American Psychiatric Association is becoming no more then a joke.

I would say that there are ways to see if medications work. My parents can normally tell when I'm off my ADD medicine, and my sleep medication works wonders as well. There are some real quacks and assholes, but there are also some really good doctors out there as well...

There are some real quacks and assholes, but there are also some really good doctors out there as well... They give ADD medicine to kids, more often then not, that do not need them. But thats not the only meds they feed children, and from experience I know every well that most psych meds are unproven and not even provable that they work. They say them in the pamphlets themselves. The only thing they say is in studies it worked with some odd percent of people but they can't prove how it works only that it did work on some odd percent of people. But its not just the average psychiatrist its the APA that changes what a disorder is and what are not disorders all the damn time and nothing in the method that made them think they had mistaken them as a disorder rather political correctness.

I have ADD, ADHD and Tourette syndrome (tics mostly) and when i was a Kid they put me on Ritalin. Ritalin Aggravates Tourettes and causes it to become worse. It can even cause it from what wikipedia says. The idiot Doctor kept upping the dose. I wasn't metaphorically climbing curtains, I was doing it Literally. I was taking a yellow one a blue one and a white one before i was sent to a 30 program ($5000 big ones it cost) to find out why I wasn't getting better.

I freaking hate drama, and online friendships of any level.
For the lazy people who won't read a wall or text or a long post, just skip to the red sections.
I just lost a friend over a big misunderstanding because she keeps letting her hate for guys cloud her sense.
Last month or the month before, I posted a joke comment on her Facebook farm about he being hot, but I always end up getting burn by her. I thought, knowing her personality, she would have said something sassy back like always. Something like "Damn right Mr. Crispy" Nope she goes bipolar on me. She removed me from her facebook after telling me off that She doesn't like those comment, even though that kind of joke was nothing new.
We got that taken care of, but lately I felt she been more destructive in her criticism on my art then constructive.
Lazy
Well short story short, We get into a misunderstanding over multiple things and she's removed me from her Facebook, DA and i'm betting gaia if she can remember the login.
Long story Long
What happened this time is that I got tired of her destructive criticism. She claims what she said was either a joke or constructive criticisms, but she over did something.
Like in my Journal I explain that I do not use guideline circles and crap like you might see in a how to draw. She says "Ya know, you might want to start using the guidelines then. Your people are... Well.. Bleh." Referring presumably to The pictures I made of the Reis. (this being because the picture that caused the tiff wasn't on my DA until today"
