'Alright man, what's going on? Just spit it out before I get more freaked out here,' Honda demanded, wary about where this particular set up might be going.
((Natural disasters happen quite frequently too. Not as frequently as accidents, it's just easier to think about an accident not happening to you than a natural disaster being avoidable, which is why they freak me out more. Many - not all of course - accidents do have an element of avoidable to them. Whereas if you live somewhere and a tsunami or hurricane strikes there isn't much you can do to escape if you aren't already in some way prepared, and some disasters are hard to possible to prepare for. I guess there is a feeling of helplessness that disasters inspire that just totally freak me out.
Yes, Tom said it was indeed Mightiest Heroes. I don't think Netflix exists in the UK but even if it did I don't have a TV. All my TV watching is online nowadays which is why I get behind from time to time. I can't as easily work at my computer and watch things on it at the same time. During my undergrad I couldn't be bothered to string cable up to my room in my final year, however I had both a desktop and laptop back then so one served as a TV while I did work on the other. He suggested that same punishment but atm I'm just so super busy. I've only wanted things in the background that I've seen before so I don't get too distracted so we've been watching Inuyasha atm. I never finished the series but I saw the first 5-6 seasons, and I saw the first few several times, so its not too distracting but still enjoyable. If he hadn't hated Evolution we could watch that, but oh well.))

Jounouchi sighed, "Okay, so Kaiba and I think we have like... a ghost or something haunting us." he shivered, "We've been having a lot of weird stuff happening to both of us, like stuff that is definitely not just random chance. Stuff flying around rooms, my dad attacking Kaiba, we even were in a helicopter crash..." he took a deep breath, "The pilot didn't even survive, man. And it might have extended to family too..." he hesitated, "My mom's in the hospital; she fell down the stairs. It could just be coincidence, but I'm afraid whatever this thing is, it might go after Shizuka too. Kaiba and I are going to meet with a contact of Isis' to see if he knows anything about this, so I want you to be there to keep her safe while we're gone."
((Yeah, I can definitely see what mentality you're coming from on the matter.
Ah, got it. Well when you do get some extra time, Wolverine and the X-Men and Earth's Mightiest Heroes are pretty much the two series I would recommend for any Marvel cartoon ever. Best of the X-Men and best of the Avengers. Oh, Inu Yasha. I kind of... well, I kind of started hating that series. It dragged on too long, I couldn't stand half the main characters, and I think it was the first series I ever stumbled upon that had a truckload of obnoxious fans. Never finished it either, but I heard it also ended badly. Too bad for Evolution that it takes a whole season before it starts getting good and having a decent plot. Makes a lot of people not interested.))

Honda stood in stunned silence for a few moments, trying to process the whole situation. After several minutes he was aware of Jounouchi repeatedly calling out his name. 'Sorry man,' he finally answered, 'that was just a lot to take in. I have a million questions, but look I know you're probably pressed for time so I'll just say yes, yes I'll do anything I can to help. Just let me know where exactly I'm heading and I'll be there as quickly as my bike can manage.'
((Sorry, had a music festival this past week and pretty much 3 hour rehearsals every day around work and other things. Festival behind me now, no more band until Autumn. Though this one week is the only time band is ever this intense. During normal terms there is only one 2 hour rehearsal a week.
Yea I heard Inuyasha didn't end well (though a lot of series I've liked I've never thought ended well, I do appreciate ending something is the most difficult part of any media), but I'm enjoying rewatching it for now. Inuyasha was one of the first animes I've ever watched, long before I became aware of things like 'fandoms', so Inuyasha fans were nothing that ever touched me. Yea I love Evolution but I get that it's full of flaws, a weak beginning and end being part of them.))

Jounouchi sighed in relief, "Thanks so much man." he paused, considering, "And uh... well, we're not really in biking distance right now. We're at... at my mom's place. Give me a second, okay?" he lowered the phone from his ear, stalking back over to the living room, "Hey Kaiba. Me and you need to go meet with a contact of Isis', and I want Honda here to look after Shizuka and Mokuba." he included Kaiba's sibling as well to add incentive to the plan, "You have a way of getting him down here?"
((Didn't know you were still involved in band; hope you had fun!
A lot of series do, sadly, end badly, but I nod in agreement that it is the most difficult thing to do. Thankfully Yuugiou ended well in my opinion; I was always proud and relieved of that. And unfortunately I was already pretty deep into the anime world by the time Inu Yasha came out stateside, so it wasn't one of my first and I knew enough about fandoms to run into its own. Made it more difficult for me to get into the series at all, though I still watched it here and there. Agreed. Evolution is so different, it's hard to even compare to other X-Men things, but it had a lot of good going for it along with the bad. Especially in the middle of the series.))

Seto had returned to what he'd been looking into while at the hospital as soon as he'd opened his laptop, determined to ignore his brother's occasional glares. The personal nature of these 'attacks', and particularly Jounouchi's mother's accident, had prompted Seto to look into something he'd never given a second thought, the circumstances surrounding his parent’s deaths. Both deaths had been accidental, and he hadn't given it a second thought in over a decade. Now though, now Seto had to wonder how much coincidence could really be playing a part in his life. Thus far he didn’t like what he was finding, records of strange near death accidents plaguing both his parents for weeks before the eventual cessation of life. Nothing he uncovered hinted at the possible link between him and Jououchi, and he was still certain that whatever was happening now definitely concerned both of them, but it was enough to definitely have him on edge about the potential malice they could all be facing.
He pulled himself out of his assorted reports when he heard his name, groaning slightly once he'd processed the request. He didn't want to waste time arguing though, and the more people protecting his brother the better. It's not like he'd have to put up with Honda if they were going elsewhere. 'Yea sure,' he muttered, pulling out his mobile. 'I'll have a helicopter pick him up in 5,' he offered, without relating why he knew where exactly to send a helicopter to find Honda.
((Yea I've tried to stay in band every time I've been part of uni. I've never invested the time/energy to find an appropriate local community band while out of school, but when I'm in school I've always found a group to play with. So during my MA and now I'm part of the Wind Band which is unauditioned and student conduct (but regardless fairly good and quite large). But yea the festival was fun, played LOTR for the first time which was pretty cool.
Yea my parents had dial up and would get annoyed if I spent more than 15 minutes online a day because it was so expensive, so I didn't really get immersed into online culture into I started my undergrad, which was 2 years after I got into Inuyasha. I had a few friends who watched animes but not in terms of thinking about it as 'being into anime.' Even I didn't think of it that way back then, when I was watching YGO, Inuyasha, Fullmetal Alchemist. Even before that when I was watching Dragon Ball Z and Yu Yu Hakusho (also never finished but want to). Most of the series with really annoying fandoms I got into before I met people 'into anime' both on and offline, so that's never really conflicted with whether or not I could enjoy a series. I definitely avoid a lot of things these days based on fanbases though. I started reading Game of Thrones, don't watch the series, but it seems impossible to avoid spoilers and I almost just want to give up on it. I just don't have the time to stay 'current' and 'caught up' with anything, so series/shows/books that have large fanbases that just cannot stop blathering on turns me away from the series a bit.))

Jounouchi was a bit surprised with how easily Kaiba agreed, but decided to just go with it, "Great, I'll let him know." He didn't even consider that that he should've had to tell Kaiba Honda's address. He put the phone back to his ear, "Okay, Kaiba's sending a helicopter for you and it'll be there by five."
((Lord of the Rings music was the first I ever heard a school band perform, from my junior high band. I was so excited at the time. XD
Wow, it seems crazy to get immersed into fandoms and anime fandoms like that so late. For me it started all the way back in sixth grade, pretty much the moment I had any access to internet. So guess I've always ended up avoiding popular shows with annoying fandoms. And I agree on Game of Thrones and things like that. And though spoilers are a part of it, for me it's more just that I get annoyed that these series always clog up my the blogs I follow and such, so I start to resent them. Right now Game of Thrones and Dr. Who are the two biggest ones I just detest purely based on the fandom.))

'Great, thanks man,' Honda started, 'no wait, how does Kaiba know where the hell I live?'
((Yea LOTR was a big middle school/junior high thing when the films came out, however I was in HS was the films came out so while I have heard it several times - combined district events where inevitably at least one of the three middle schools would play it - I had not played it before now. It was fun to do although on it's own the flute part is a bit meh. It's a fellowship suite that we played and the most interesting thing we have is a piccolo solo. However, I can say it's now the one time I've ever liked listening to the picc. It's in 'Concerning Hobbits' and it's very low down and actually sounds more like a pipe than a shrieking picc, which I did enjoy.
Yea I'm pretty glad in some ways that I'm just slightly too old to have had much of an internet existence prior to university. However, that means my friends were primarily who I saw in school, we hung out in person, and most of my TV/reading interests were my own as my tastes didn't align as much with my in person friends back then. I miss being able to enjoy a series based on my own opinion with nothing surrounding it. I don't want to resent things for being popular, but when they are constantly in your face it's just annoying.))

Jounouchi blinked, thinking it over, "...maybe he doesn't. Maybe he was just gonna ask me after I hung up." he shrugged.
((Aww, really like the piccolo. It's one of my favorite instruments. XD
Sounds like you were a bit late getting internet though, since aren't we like three years apart? And I got it in junior high, so you should've been in high school. Granted I don't know if we were one of those families that got it really early or not. But anyway, I agree. While it's nice that nerdy things can get popular more easily now and have more of an audience, and it's easier to find friends who share your interests, that doesn't change how frustrating it is getting bombarded by a fandom you're not super interested in.))

'Helicopters on its way to get Honda, where are we going?' Seto asked when Jounouchi ended the call.
((Often sitting next to the picc means it frequently annoys and deafens me, I appreciate it's difficult to tune. But there are times where the picc sounds great. LOTR is one of them.
Again we didn't not have internet, we had dial up, which a fair amount of my friends had in the early 2000s. It just wasn't the most 'friendly' thing to use, and dial up was the cheaper option only if you didn't use it, so parents would stress that internet not be used for much more than homework, and even then to use school computers if possible - which I never used for fun browsing. I applied for universities at my friends house b/c it was easier to deal with than dial up. So probably as half of my friend group including myself didn't have families who at that time saw a reason to pay for more than very basic internet options, most of us didn't use it very often. Even when I was on it it was mainly just trying to get on aim and chatting with friends I knew, not searching for strangers whose fandom obsessions would annoy me. So yea internet was a thing when I was a teenager, but it wasn't enough of a thing that you'd use it differently from your friends. Most of my friends gamed on consoles and chatted on the phone, so that's what I did. Barring the phone thing. I hate phones.))

Jounouchi frowned when he heard that, looking perplexedly at Kaiba, "...how did you know where Honda lives?" he asked curiously.
((Haha fair enough.
Yeah, I think in that time period I had dial-up as well, though I know by the time I started high school we switched to something better. Even with dial up though I didn't chat or anything; just lived on Neopets and fanfiction.net. XD No wonder I was so quickly exposed to fandoms.))

Seto refused to answer the question and headed out toward the front of the house. 'I've arranged to have a helicopter pick us up in the open lot space down the road, where exactly are we going?' he asked again, as if he'd never heard the previous question.
((Fanfiction.net is one of the first things I did start to explore around when I went to uni, however I never paid attention to the people, writers or comments. Just read the stories that seemed like they would interest me. If the writing itself was annoying/expressing obnoxious fandom I don't think I ever thought of it in that way. I just thought 'terrible story/writing' or 'this story is not for me' and that was about it.))

Jounouchi quickly handed Kaiba the directions he had written down from Isis, then folded his arms, "Hey, I asked you a question."
((Comments generally weren't too bad on ff.net, but there were tons and tons of bad, obnoxious fan stories, and I guess if you were already immersed in some fandom life, and knew terms and such, it was more noticeable as 'obnoxious fans' than 'bad writing.' Though it was both usually. But yeah, like ff.net is where I learned about Mary Sues and such.))

'And hey, I have decided not to answer it,' Seto mocked, though in more of a light teasing tone than usual. He exited the house with Jounouchi half running to catch up to his long stride.
((Heh, I think this is how I learned about Mary Sues: http://piratemonkeysinc.com/ms1.htm, however, yea, I learned about fandom things through things like webcomics and a bit through Sara, so I learned about them slowly without ever having to deal with the people.))

((I'm getting a page not found error, but the url sounds familiar. Is it by chance a quiz to see if your character is a Mary Sue? And haha, lucky you, getting exposed to fandoms so mildly.))

Seto debated just answering Jounouchi's question, the truth wasn't all that creepy, at least not creepy in terms of specifically stalking Honda. However, annoying Jounouchi was generally more enjoyable. He pretended not to hear further questioning as he hopped into the helicopter that had just arrived.
((No, it's a Harry Potter comic called Sparkly Poo (if you can get to the HP section it's the thumb that has a horrified looking Harry and Ron). I don't know why the link doesn't work. It worked yesterday and now it doesn't. But it's annoying b/c on the 404 page if you click Harry Potter and then the particular comic it opens and its the same link. Just not clickable. I have seen Mary Sue quizzes, and if you're thinking of the one I'm thinking of now it's very very long yes? Well maybe yes, but there is a massive one out there to see if your character is a Sue. I skimmed through it but at the time I had no characters in mind to try it out on.))
