Fira the Phoenix

PostPosted: Sun Jan 10, 2010 7:01 pm
Fira still took a few more steps back. She just got dropped from a hallway that suddenly went down, and before that almost eaten by some shadow creature in the elevator shaft, at the moment she was a little on edge and untrusting at the moment. Though for now she decided just to keep an eye on them for now and turned around. She opened and raised her wings curling them forward in front of her and manifesting in front of her was an orb. It glowed a warm yellowy orange light and flickered liked flames were trapped within it.

The phoenix lowered her head grabbing this perfect sphere between her beak before folding her wings back and starting forward using the orb to light her way.

Kokoro looked to her husband then back to the bird, slightly confused, but decided to follow it anyway, looking at her fire oddly and restored it once again, taking her husband's hand in her free one.

Kasark smiles and walks with her, still watching the phoenix. He looks back every so often, making sure nothing is following them.

The father they walked, the darker it grew around them. It did not seem to matter how big or bright the flames and lights were, the circles of light cast by them continued to shrink slowly but surely. By this point, it was now impossible to see the walls of the hallway and the shelves around them looked more and more abandoned, some even containing small skeletons among their dust and cobwebs. The roaring of the beast grew fainter as they moved away from the elevator, but the chit-chit of claws on a hard surface could almost be heard between the fading bellows of the beast, and a suggestion of movement seemed to scuttle by, just in the corners of one's eyes. The carpet underfoot continued to leave light footprints behind, the pattern adorning it now obscured by dust.

Fira the Phoenix

PostPosted: Sun Jan 10, 2010 8:17 pm
Fira’s head constantly flicked back and forth her eyes drawing to one possible sight of moment to another. She was increasingly growing more and more nervous. Phoenixes were creatures of fire and light, not darkness or the cold of the shadows. Let alone, she had horrible night vision, much more poor then a humans and as the lights seemed to dim, which was something Fira gradually noticed, she started on a pattern of almost running into the hallway walls or the bases of the shelving. She was liking this situation less and less the further down the hallway she went, and the people behind her she was still unsure of which didn’t help, but what other choice was there? Go back to the elevator shaft monster?

"I don't like this...The light keeps fading..." Kas looks around, still trying to find out if something is following us.

Kokoro slunk closer and closer to Kasark the more she heard movement. Though she giggled softly when the Phoenix almost ran into a wall or bottom of a shelf. "Uh... Would you like to go on my shoulder or something?" She knew the bird didn't trust her, but she wanted them to get along and be able to trust each other in case there was something after them, which Kokoro was almost positive that something was.

Z sat at the bottom of one of the many flights of stairs. He had only gone down a few stories, which ment he was somewhere in the lower ninty floors. And so far, nothing to terribly scary had awaken yet save for the library that didnt want its books to be read.

As Z was about to stand up he heard foot steps. But they werent on the ground and they werent running away from him either.

Z had just stood up and turned around when he was knocked over. Something or someone had tackled him which sent both of them tumbling and rolling. Z stopped when he rolled hard into one of the book shelves. The other person however was already on his feet, or her feet.

Z shook his head and looked up at the woman. She bounced on the balls of her feet and smirked. Z looked up at her, not able to look into her mind. He could only hear sparatic things, things that made no sense. That bothered Z a great deal.

The woman stopped and knelt down next to him before she spoke.

"Sorry, I didnt mean to hurt you. I was just trying to get out of here as fast as I could. These damned books are coming to life."

She said as she held up a book that she had bound shut with her shoe laces so it wouldnt be able to bite her. She slipped it back into the back of her pants. It couldnt have been very comfortable with it squirming around.

"Its fine... What is your name?"

Z asked. He wasnt used to having to ask for names. So formalities wasnt really his best foot to start on.

The woman kept smirking as she replied.

"My name is Rachael. Information gathering, messanger, and runner. Whats yours?"

Z didnt answer. He was still trying to enter her mind to no avail. He looked around and his eyes widened when she flashed the quivering book. But before he could grab it Rachael had already put it back where she had pulled it.

"Z, and you need to put that back. Now!"

He said. He looked around, hoping that the library wasnt going to send anything after the book. Or worse, something found them that the library didnt control.

Racheal saw Z's hand twitch when she flashed the book. She frowned before speaking again.

"Please dont try to take this from me. I worked really hard to get it and even harder getting just to this point. I kinda need it."

Rachael held out her hand to Z, helping him to his feet.

Fira the Phoenix

PostPosted: Sun Jan 10, 2010 9:03 pm
For a moment Fira glanced back at Kokoro her feathers puffing out before she looked forward once again quickly shaking her head in a no before her tail gave a quick quiver. Her feathers flattened as she pushed on her eyes constantly flicking from one area to another.

Kokoro watched her for a moment then said "Well okay.. suit yourself. The offer's always open." She continued to follow the phoenix, trying to keep her distance so as not to alarm it. She then was glancing around the room as well, looking for whatever it was that was causing the clicking sound.

Kas looks back again, almost positive to have seen something behind them in the darkness. Now, he doesn't trust this library, knowing that what can seem to be real is fake, and what seems fake is real.

Z and Rachel ought to have been paying more attention to the piling fur and snuffling noises. The library really did not appreciate people trying to steal from it, and mentioning Record of the Jarians was strike two. A pair of massive minotaurs stood beside the pair amongst the bookshelves, their arrival silent and their heavily muscled arms crossed. Between the pair stood what almost appeared to be a man in a dapper suit. Though, on closer inspection, his appearance seemed to be more that of a twisted sphinx standing on two legs. His wings protruded from the back of his suit as his stony face remained nonplussed with a hint of annoyance. His paw-like hand was extended towards Rachel in a gesture that was quite obviously intended for her to place her stolen prize in its grasp.

The bellowing from the elevator shaft halted suddenly, dousing the incredibly long hallway in a sudden and absolute silence. The darkness around the trio closed in further, bringing the circles of light almost close enough that any one of them could brush the edges with fingertips. The skittering sounded again, this time sounding so close that the three ought to have definitely been able to see the cause of the sound, but nothing was visible around them. The clicking was definitely one of claws on a hard surface, and the carpet around them showed no prints or disturbances of its coat of dust besides theirs. The suggestion of movement was quicker now, whatever was causing it seemed agitated but remained only in the corner of the viewer's eye. A creaking sound came from farther behind them, somewhere close to the elevator shaft, the sound of metal slowly moving in a manner it was not made to move in.

"What was that?" Kas looked back in the direction of the elevator shaft, hearing the sound of metal moving in a non natural way. He looks around, trying to find the source of the skittering noise.

Nerida
Princess of Mayim

Royal Appearance

As she was about to nod her head, saying that the u known figure could get a ride upward, a voice was heard down below. The male figure then left Nerida's side to go down below. From the voices she heard, it seemed like the two knew each other. So Nerida left it alone and continued upward. But she suddenly ceased, feeling something approaching fast. "Princess...somethings coming", her large sea beast stated, moving closer to the wall. Nerida nodded and spoke, "i know" And as it inched closer, Nerida heard a noise from below, someone shouting that an exit was near, but back at the bottom. There wasn't any time for her to go back down, for the creature soared downward. Pressing themselves to the side of the elevator shaft, the creature, just mere inches from them soared downward.

Breathing heavily and now with the creature down below, the Nymph and the sea beast soared upward, until they reached another set of elevator doors. Trying there best, they wedged it open and stepped out. "I wonder what floor where on now?"

The nymph and the sea creature would find no easy answers as to which floor they were on. There were no windows, only a hallway that looked as if it stretched off into the distance, the opposite wall looked very far away shrunk by apparent distance to appear tiny. The floor here sloped downwards as well, the angle growing steeper the farther down the corridor one went. The slick tiling on the floor here made odd reflections on the walls under the single long strip of lights that extended down the center of the ceiling. Though, this strangely empty hallway certainly seemed more inviting than the dark elevator shaft where the sound of something roughly moving the doors to a floor below echoed.
