scream I belive it is time to impliment twisted "take Cambridge hostage" plan.
My sincerist apologies on the bad news but you shouldn't be thinking about such things as degrees and school. You should be thinking about living life to the fullest and having fun with friends *cough*icu One of the main reasons i am planning on going to college is my thirst for knowledge. I just want to know so much about how things work and doing so makes me happy so you should do what makes you happy.
get well soon niph and we hope to see you soon.

I actually think having a Gap year will be much better for Niph than getting straight into Cambridge. I don't know what the universities are like over there but here in Australia most of the universities (the elite ones anyway) are full of leftist academics who preach socialist slogans. It's not a good environment to build up skills you can use for your future career; I've had 2 years' worth of experience to prove this. No doubt Cambridge is even more elitist, plus you have to actually live on campus right? Nine months living with a bunch of other nerds, socialists and rich kids would be living hell I reckon.

Many students who go straight into uni after getting high entrance scores actually end up leaving before the year is even up, as they discover that the dream degree they wanted to study is not suitable for them, or they find it too hard. Students who do a Gap year however, have always succeeded in completing their degrees once they go back to uni. Thise who do a Gap year generally get a good sense of what sort of job they're most suited to do and what subjects they actually like and can study very well. They're also probably more financially secure than other straight to uni students as a lot use the Gap year to find a part-time job that will set them up if not for life than at least until they finish their degree.

@Sin: Sounds fun. 4laugh

@Mini: Oh wow... I never knew that. If I talk to Niphy soon, perhaps I can give her the suggestion? Or you should yourself, Mini. 3nodding I have never ever considered taking a gap year, ya know... I just want to get my education over with quickly and get into work. I'm sick of education, to be honest. But, I can see where you're coming from. Still, it is likely to cost a bit, and... another reason I'm desperate to go to uni and get it all over with is because I can then be loosened from my parents. Not in a mental way, nor in a physical... it's hard to explain, but I want to feel independent. I've been dependent on them all my life; I'm not just a bit tired of them sometimes, I want to grow up, and I feel guilty about all the trouble I've caused them since I was born. sad So yeah. I will personally take your advice into consideration though, Mini. Did you take a gap year yourself?

We don't really reccommend a gap year in America. I think it's because a lot of the student's who do gap years end up never going back to school. But I find going to university much like going to high school. But s'okay niphz. Cambridge will realize their horrid mistake and come begging for you soon enough. heart

Nah I didn't take a Gap year off. I ended up getting the degree I wanted to study; though not the degree my parents wanted me to study. xd I don't mind staying with my parents for a while, not only because it's bloody hard trying to find someplace else to live, but I also get to work for them. Whether or not I finish my degree will have no future bearing on my career, as I'm already set out to be a personal carer. However, once my four years' are up, I will take a one or two year break from any studying and work full time. This will allow me to think hard about what sort of further study I will do, whether it be a second degree, a postgraduate Masters, or studying abroad at Cambridge and Oxford.

The difficulty of a uni course can vary widely, not just between different degrees but within the degree itself, as you have to choose the streams and majors you want to study. That alone can eithe make uni a breeze, and a nightmare. I've been fortunate to pick mostly easy subjects so far, which has meant I've gotten relatively high marks, and I've only come close to failing in two subjects. So just for a tip, don't focus two much on deciding between different degrees. Not only does every degree have several pathways you can follow, there is also the opportunity to study subjects from other degrees during your time a uni.

Well. My english exam was like : User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
I dunno if I did it right. DX

But my history was more like : User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Since the things I studied weren't on the exam, and the things I didn't were.

*glomps Tosh* You poor thing... *smiles at the emotes*

@Mini: I see... 3nodding Gotcha. I am overly worried about my future when I think about it... and like Niph I want to apply for Oxbridge, and I'm not even close to her intellect and hardworkingness. xd Still, my parents want me to go for it, and I know considering my results I do have a chance. Just not a very high one, in my opinion, lol.

Lol I guess you probably failed on the History exam. rofl But those exams don't really count for anything do they? I mean, you're not sitting for your college entrance exams yet like Niph and B&B have now are you?

B&B: Don't fret about not being as smart as Niph. Her results might have been better than yours but remember what course you apply for also determines your chances of getting in. I bet Niph went for a law or medicine-type degree which has a low chance of success. But if you apply for something like Arts or even simpler, then your chances of getting in are much greater,
