And like all other times, Xaio blushed when he had. "It's n-not morning sir but I'm glad you feel well rested." She didn't move anymore because he couldn't, nor did she really want to. Yawning a tid bit, she smiled to him. W-what's on your mind?" Being alone like they were and not having done much, she wasn't sure what else to ask.

Duke laid back down on her legs and folded his arm under his head again. He didn't want to move even if he was in kind of a weird place. "Nothing I wish, my head is throbbing." He let out a small sigh realizing that the exhaustion hit him harder then he thought it did.

He blinks, beginning to feel energized as her dragon image begins to fade. He tried to stop her but by the time he had energy enough for that she passed out. "Baka-Taichou," he mutters softly, squeezing her hand gently before sighing. But, he can't help but smile, liking the feeling of someone caring for his well being again. He had the hime he had wanted from a young age and yet here she was trying to protect him. Silently, he swore that would change, he wouldn't need saving any more!

Xaio smiled as she watched Duke just relaxing. He didn't seem much to tense at all. "I could try to ease the pain. It's been something I've been quietly working on." It probably sounded confusing by how vague she made it, so instead she cared to eleborate. "Since I've already been able to mentally hack through communication, I've tried using that wire to breach upon other brainly aspects, even pain." She wouldn't try doing anything just yet, not without his permission.

Sky slept soundly for a few minutes and smiled feeling his hand tense around hers, but she still didn't wake up. After a while though, bad memories came back to haunt her in her sleep causing her to shake a little and tighten her eyes closed. Her mind flashed back to the fight she had one-on-one with a old enemy she had back in the military after she'd snuck in. The man's name was Darren, and he was a medium size man but well built. He still looked like he could take down a bulldozer, but she hadn't carried. Brute strength was something she outmatched millions of times before, but this time, he was smart, and armed. After the rain had ended for the fifth night in a row, they left the base to fight out in the mud. They were going to settle this dispute for once and all, looser was forever kicked out of the services. While their fight started, the rain begun to fall again, but they didn't stop even out in the freezing rain. As the fight continued lightning flashed and everyone watched in the darkness from the safety of the building. The fight lasted all through the night and she hadn't tired out, but the man was and she was happy about that. In the rising sun light though, she noticed something she hadn't before: a rifle stuck to the man's back, and it was loaded. She thought she had him until he grew so mad, he pulled it out and shot her twice, once in the shoulder and once in the gut. Almost, she dropped into the mud, but she stood tall and charged him again since he had no more ammunition. She let out a battle cry and he stabbed her with a vial into her chest and she dropped out cold into the mud. That was the beginning of her hell, that was her entry way to doom, pain full doom. Sky's hands in the the real world tighten and she started sweating remembering the pain full memory and remembering what had came after her brush with death. The military Sky woke up slowly in the hospital with doctors all around her and pain filling her whole body. She started to grimace in the pain as it grew and grew and grew. Violently, she bursted out in fire and all the nurses and doctors had to fight her back down and sedate her as they continued to try and figure out what she'd been dosed with. They had no idea what this thing was, but they executed Darren for treason since he went after everyone else after he won. After that, until her wounds healed, it seemed that pills were the only thing in her life that would stay the same. They were pain killers and she hated them even if they let her sleep at night without the nightmares and pain... It still didn't help any...
Sky woke up in a panic, her pupils now were tiny little slits barely visible and her face was white and covered in sweat. She bit down on her lip as she sunk back down with her arm killing her. It hurt like hell and it just made her shiver more before she unlocked her hands with Cade's and pulled down her shirt. The black lines that seemed to outline her veins was growing in size and causing her more pain then ever.Duke smiled but then shook his head. "I'll be fine, I'd rather deal with it then have you," he said sincerely rolling over onto her back and looking up at Xaio. He'd never seen her like this and it shocked him how much he'd missed it, he missed her. Before, he just looked at her like his helper, one of his best friends... Now he seemed like the little bud that he always saw, but now was blooming and it just amazed him how beautiful she really was...

She nodded. "I'll be here in case you change your mind but so will you." It was funny since he moved around but remained upon her lap resting.
Her eyes caught his as she started reading something unusual from his gaze. Unusual in a good way of course...Blushing, Xaio couldn't help but question. "What are y-you thinking of now sir?" Letting some of her hair fall into her face in hopes of masking the color, she couldn't help but fidget with his hair instead.

Duke smiled feeling her hand playing with his hair. "Mmm... Nothing really, just day dreaming," he said telling the truth partially but still, he wasn't going to tell her everything. He close his green eyes and he smiled again.

He watched, at first smiling at the peaceful look on his hime's face. But then that look turned to worry as she began to sweat and grimace in pain. He growled, damn it, something isn't right! He knew he was right when her eyes open slitted despite the energy he had given her. "Duke! If you can hear me, get over here!" he exclaims, trying to make the entire base hear him if possible.
That day, in the meadow, as he went through the rights of adulthood, he was told why his mother in serious situations was always hime-sama. That he had given the oath he was taught as a child, that of a warrior to their princess. The most sacred oath his people could make, that they had to do anything to fulfill. That day, he could tell it wasn't the pain of the wounds that made him cry, or the thought he could die, it was that he had failed the most sacred of all bonds. He wouldn't let that happen to his princess, even if he hadn't given the oath! She will live, one way or another! He takes in a deep breath, calling on the wolf within before letting out a howl that reverberates throughout the base, a sound he usually only made when he was in the true form forced upon him.

She could only nodded in anxious curiosity as to what he was thinking, but it was to be a dropped issue. He was much to sweet to disturb anymore. "Sounds nice..." Xaio leaned back against the wall and tried doing it herself but the only thing on her mind was the fact that Duke was still right there! "Very fantasized." She told herself thinking further into the situation and possibilities while still fidgeting with his hair. There were several failed braids considering it was much to short but the texture was enough to keep her tousling.
Xaio exhaled in thoughts and finally said. "Sir...sometimes i wish I was older."

"Damn, that was the longest the pain has ever lasted," I mutter softly, removing the gauze that hides the left side of my face. I look in the mirror, moving my bangs away to look closely at the mark. I groan, the mark having darkened, the pentagram now a true star. It had originally still been a pentagram, even if the inside was a different color from the tan of my skin. It had been slowly taking over, that blood red, but now it was all the way filled in. What the hell is going on? That's when a howl echos, causing me to flinch in aprehension, that's no ordinary wolf.

"What's interesting? Don't wish to grow up to fast," he smiled still curious of what she was thinking of before he leaned up. He didn't really want to get up and look for Cade since he heard his cry. He didn't want to leave her, but he needed to be working even though he should be working. He sighed and stood up before he gave her a soft kiss on her cheek before he stripped out of his flight suit and left the room leaving her in it. "What's the panic Cade?" he asked softly walking up to the double sized werewolf.Sky picked her head up still shaking and noticed Cade gone. She let out a small muffled pain cry but she continued to sit there before she pushed herself to her weak feet. She stumbled against the wall and walked out of the room starting to have a fervor from Cade, but she would live with it. "Cade... I'm fine..." she called out weakly using the wall as a support.

Xaio was enjoying this limited yet casually comfortable conversation in this secluded place. Nothing could ruin it, well, until now. Duke was going to respond to a call for help like the good person he was. Sometimes he was much to good.
Wait, what was that? Did he really? The Duke departed to leave her alone but he hadn't gone silently for her spoke a loud action. He had kissed her on the cheek. "D-duke..." She really wanted to stop him and get to talking but she didn't have the courage too. What feeling did the kiss exactly portray? Was it only friendship? "Speak up Xaio..." This was an encouragement for when he returned. She wanted to say something.

He looks to him, surprised he had moved from her side. But, he shakes it from his mind, focused on the here and the now. "Duke, the marks on Sky are spreading rapidly. That baka took the pain away from my broken arm and gave me energy and I think that's what did this," he states before he hears Sky walking from the room. His eyes widen, turning around to walk to her side and support her. "Princess, you should be in your bed!" he exclaims in worry.

Duke looked amazed at Sky, amazed that she was still standing freely on her two feet--and a wall but that didn't count. He stood there and looked at him and then at her and saw the black marks and lines spreading up to her neck. He shivered at it before he whispered, "I'm going to need to come up with an antidote for this problem, fast."Sky looked up at him with her face still pale and covered in sweat but she didn't care, she wanted to make sure he was okay. "You should be up either or you'll screw up you arm," she said tensely completely sure on what she said. It would be nice to get some nightmare free sleep though...

He looks to her with a frown, looking to his properly set arm and shakes his head. "I don't need to be in a bed to make sure the arm stays set. It's you you should be worried about," he states softly, forcing her to place an arm around him for he could lead her back to the room. Usually he'd lift a person like a sack of potatoes but he didn't have two arms to hold her properly and it didn't seem wise in her condition. He looks to Duke, motioning him to follow. "Duke...when I lay her down, I have a suggestion and I want to know if it would work," he states, biting his lip nervously. He didn't want to assign a fate to her, but he didn't want to watch her die either.
