I have a million things to say. But I'm going to voice this out.
I'd call people who don't even want to listen to classical music just because it's for "oldies" completely ignorant.
Do you hear me? I'll repeat it again.
Ignorant. Next time he goes out of the car, find a ten minute plus long song.
See how he enjoys it. twisted
But I just say it's due to ignorance and bad influences that people can't accept other forms of music. Heck, I don't like hardcore rap, but I don't show to people my hatred. I casually wait until the song is over -- they're not one year long!

i think its because they aren't exposed to it, unlike genres like pop and rap.

Mmm... Classical music is more of an art. I guess back in those days it was a fad. People loved it because it was for the rich and the popular. But now a days its just for those who just like it. Music is an art overall. But classical is where the artist came from I'd generally have to say. But thats what I generally believe. But hey~ In this world, nothing stays the same forever. Time changes and time goes on. We can't stop that and classical music will be only appreciated by those who know it or know of it... I guess thats what makes us unique. smile

One of my theories is the greedy consumption of music these days sends off the idea that if it's old, it's not worth listening too. Classical music tends to fall in the "old" category. But then, look at how many people are listening to New Kids on the Block these days. Anyone remember how big they were at one point?

It does get old when people think that classical music sucks....out of the 20 some odd friends i have only 2-3 of them actually ENJOY classical music like I do...but then again I do have a very eclectic gathering of music tastes...lol

I love classical music. When I just want to listen to music without vocals, I usually turn to classical and instrumental music. It relaxes me when I listen to them.

I must say that classical music is my favorite genre but EDM (electronic dance music) is a close second. Somebody else wrote in here about the stigma that anything old is not worth listening to. I have also noticed this trend. I guess, from my point of view, our culture seems to be deteriorating but I suppose others would argue that it is simply evolving.

I have to agree. It's such a pity that people don't appreciate it anymore.
They loathe classical music because it's so "old school". They think that rock and rap are so "cool".
And I'd have to admit. Whenever I hear a rock/rap song playing, my ears get irritated from hearing it. I might even scream at the person who sings after it. sweatdrop
Better to have a instrumental rather than a song that has pointless, meaningless lyrics. 3nodding
EDIT- And yes, I'd have to agree with the first post. People are ignorant of how much beauty and effort are put into making classical pieces/scores. u_u
