... Is it majority space combat or majority surface combat? And, also, is it just large vessels or does it have it's bit of small space fighter combat.

Chain loves space fighter combat the most. He's a total fan of the Wing Commander series... Mostly because the technology level is spot on fantastic. Not too low-tech, and not so high it's unbelievable (I'm looking at you, Star Trek...).

Well... its all in space and all the ships are big, in one book (the second) Honor is the Captain of the HMS Nike a 300,000 ton battlecruiser. (and thats a mid-sized ship) I think you would like the series Chain. I still like the characters.
