[Alright, the moment we've all been waiting for! The first three deaths shall ensue, here, in this post! twisted Read well, my friend, and realize now the genius of the plan, how well it suits the character of evil, with his twisted mind, his demented thoughts, his....ok, you get it, just read. xd ]

Vence nodded after a few seconds, a small reassuring smile coming into view.

"Yeah, no big deal. It acts up, sometimes, this scar I have..." He let the sentence die, certain she knew what he was talking about. Sometimes, previously inflicted wounds left their marks, and sometimes they got in the way of life. This one was no different.

It was nice though, knowing someone still cared about his health and safety. He had only known this person for, what, a few hours? Met after a mock match, which she interfered with, and already they were talking about travelling around together and whatnot. Sometimes, he supposed, friendships just clicked.

~~~
"Of course, good friend. That is an excellent idea, by the way....ah, I seem to have left my quill and ink at home. How to sign it?" The old king Nyrasca asked, glancing to see if anyone else would have one.
The man smiled, friendly at first, but now, he couldn't help himself. Now was the moment of truth. He had delayed for too long, but there was no reason to fear. He planned tonight being the night, and now it was so. Not as many people as he had hoped to view this spectation, as before, previously planned at the end of the speeches given, but it would suffice.
"How about...with your blood?" His smile gradually turned wicked, while his victims of murder finally realized the whole conversation had been a trap. The first to react was the new king, Raelle, he he jumped from his seat, intending to flee.
"Fools, all of you!" The man laughed, raising his hand towards him, a black matter clasped the boy, which brought him beside the man. With his other hand, we merely waved it, sending the two older rulers flying, as they fell into a dark hoold. They reappeared beside him as well, enveloped in a dark sphere. The youth joined them.
"My revenge has been had. Here my name and remember it from long ago. It is-"
"Back off!" Vence shouted, instantly halfway across the room. He had no sword to draw, as he would've liked, but magic would suffice. He raised his hand, flames engulfing it.
The man simply chuckled as he continued to grin, and upon lifting his hand, sent a dark shockwave flying. Catching the boy off gaurd, he was sent back, landing soundly on his back so that he actually bounced, landing face-down.
"Another fool. Did you not see me before? Now, I repeat myself, Hear my name, Zevach, and tremble.
~~~

"Ow," Vence groaned, Pushing himself up. Who was this guy? And what the hell did he think he was doing? He glanced around to see what was happening. He could already here the shouts and screams of panic, and his assumption was correct as he watched people running out of the area, panicking.

"Don't try anything stupid Mayloo, this guy is no pushover," he managed to say, still trying to recover from the blow. Zevach. Where had he heard that name before? It seemed way too familiar.

"A scar? Are you sure it isn't... She too let her words fade for she realized she was pushing upon Vence to much over something he didn't feel like discussing. Scars were sometimes a sensitive past subject. She had learned that over time from the travelers that spoke to her.

None the less, it was something to dropped for she still had yet to know him really.

Her gaze slowly swung back over to the family and the man. Something triggered the adrenaline pulsing within her veins for the man seemed to suddenly smile wickedly.

She hadn't listened to the words and she suddenly felt the need to stand in defence, which, turned out to be a good idea considering the man was now kidnapping the family it seemed, even the poor new prince. Her eyes narrowed in anger and her hands flexed to analyze the situation. The powers within her seemed to amp up abit for she began working on a way to make the water in the man's blood evaporate. Kill him from dehydration. Her concentration however had been broken when Vence went into offence, his hands alighting in fire. But, just as quickly as he did this, he was knocked right back down. "He is no fool...you are...."

This was mumbled beneath her breath for now she worked on when to strike and encase his throat in vines which would both pierce and strangle, a more gruesome death of course. The flight of people didn't bother her either but once more, Vence's voice did. He warned her, but she didn't care, she wasn't planning anything stupid.

The vines that had tried working their ways around his ankles, now managed to stand up in a posture like a snake about to strike. Smiling in satisfaction, they flew. Several vines from behind were to now grasp upon his neck and squeeze their rough barked and newly thorned surfaces into the thin flesh.

Zevach only laughed when he felt the vines wrap around him. He did his best to turn his head to face the girl, as the vines did stil lslow his movement. He had to give her some credit; to be able to snare him without any resistance was indeed notable. But still...

"I heard what you muttered," he said, smiling. "I must comment on how narrow-minded your opinion is. You must consider the difference between us is in power. In all honesty, I could kill you both where yo ustand, with no thought of it. You are an insect." With that said, he snapped his fingers, sending a black flame engulfing the vines, then hurtling towards the girl.

"Sorry about that, now where were we?" He asked, mostly to himself, as he turned to face the captured royal family.

"Oh yes, that's right... ultimatum. Surrender to me, or die." Upon those words, the sphere began to shrink...

~~~
Vence was still on his knees when the black fire caught his attention, heading straight for Mayloo. Once again, it seemed only all too familiar...and the scar on his side burned.
"Damn it," he groaned, standing up. Without much thought, he stood directly in the fire's path. A small smile alighted his face, despite the situation. He may not remember who this man was, as oddly familiar as he seemed, but he certainly recognised this power.
The flames rushed past him, and they faded away as they passed. In front of him, a column of white hot flames had sprouted from the ground, just seconds before the flames had reached him. His primary defense at the moment. fire against fire was better than simple vines. Those were good for attack and holding. But what about the water? No, if black fire was different from normal fire, the water would probably be useless.
And this guy knew that, too. He seemed to take them as simple nuisances. Zevach, he said his name was. Something his teacher had mentioned came to mind. Hundreds of years ago, a great war took place. No one is sure why, but they say a man by the name of Zevach started it all.
Was this the same man? How could he be still alive and look so young, thouigh? It was impossible without the aid of powerful magic. Which meant this guy was way more powerful then the two of them, he and Mayloo, put together, and then some.
"Mayloo," He said, an idea suddenly coming into play. "Can you do that again; the vines pinning him? I need a direct line."
PostPosted: Sun Jul 19, 2009 7:38 pm
She simply sneered at him, thinking she had gotten him finally. Maybe Vence doubted her too much, then again, the man continued to throw words at them before he burnt the vines away.
Unfortunantly that wasn't it, when the vines disappeared, the fire stayed. Her eyes widened as she tried swinging her hands to send nearby sources of water at it. The water was usually water and wines for the tables that had been abandoned and although the water could help, the alcohol in the wine would fuel it.
Her eyes had been closed though as she was doing this, which means she hadn't noticed Vence stand in guard of her from the fire. She felt a wave of heat fly by the sides of her and in curiousity,looked to find out she was facing Vence's back. "A-are you hurt?" Peeking around to look at his face, he seemed just fine for he had summoned fire to beat fire.
She looked away from the bright light blinking abit when Vence requested something. He wanted her to do the vine thing once more, even if it hadn't worked the first time. "I guess..."
Her hands were flexing once more as the vines sprouted once more to snake their way like speedy serpents towards Zevach. Once more they stood, and once more they struck for his hands, allowing only one to move in upon his head. Lightly tapping Vence with her elbow, she indicated for him to not hesitate for it wouldn't last long.
Vence nodded in understanding, and watched as Zevach once again became entangled.
"Thanks, Now I'll just..." He let the sentence die, as he placed a hand on one of the vines, He flicked his hand across it, and fire swept out, consuming the vines as it made it's way towards Zevach.
~~~

"What th... argh, you insistant little maggots, die alrea-" He was cut off short when he turned his head just in time to see bright flames shooting it's way towards him, using the vines as leverage against him. s**t, I don't have time to...

The flames reached him, and he cried out in pain as the flames swept over him, the heat burning his skin. His hold on the dark magic broke, and the sphere vanished, leaving the three royal family members on the ground, nearly suffocated.

He himself also had one knee on the ground, panting from the sudden blow he had taken. After several seconds, though, he smiled.

"Not bad. You managed to actually hit me...impressive. Unfortunately, I did not come here to fight you two. I came here for these three," he said, motioning towards his victims. His hand became outstretched, and his smile became wide. His goal was now accomplished.

Black tendrils shot out from his hand, all of them piercing through their targets. Three figures now lay on the ground, lifeless as blood poured from where their hearts should have been.

"And now for the two of you," He added, moving his hand over to them.

~~~
Vence could only realize that he had failed, unable to do anything in time to stop this man from finishing wht he started. His hand contracted into a tight fist as the black tendrils cut through the royal family. This man... was pure evil.
Damn it, I failed again... He's going to pay, though.
Flames began to flicker around his clenched fist, and he could feel the intense heat surrounding it. The energy was building up, he could feel it. With any luck, he would be able to generate it in time...
His eyes widened as the man turned toward them, now. He wasn't ready to strike yet, but this man certainly was.
"s**t, I don't have time," he whispered, taking his free hand and placing it over his right. it would speed up the proccess a little bit, but not by much. Just a little more time...
PostPosted: Mon Jul 20, 2009 7:29 pm
Mayloo kept her hand tensed to uphold the vine's hold while Vence did his thing. He touched his hand to the plant connection to light what acted like a wick towards Zevach.
He was caught off guard by this luckily for he simply made the mistake of disregarding the vines as a petty thing. Boy was it funny to watch the fire sear the back of his neck. The pain was evident from this as he screamed while releasing the family.
Smiling, she was happy they had finally got them to be released, but that happiness was quickly snatched away by the tendrils Zevach created to stab right through the hearts. The sound of the pierced fresh made her tremble abit while clasping her hands over her mouth in surprise.
The bloodied sight of the innocent always made her alittle sick. Unfortunantly, that was the least of her worries for now the morbid man now turned to them. What he was going to do was a mystery, but by the way he held his hand, she could only assume he'd do the same thing to them.
In fear and fast reaction, a vine spiked in thorns struck his upheld hand which skimmed across it to scratch it up. He'd hopefully recoil, which ment time to run. His mission was finish, so there was no longer a threat, except to them. If they were able to get away, then they'd be able to begin their travels alive.
Just as he was about to strike the two youths down (Pity for them, they had some talant), More vines came up and struck at his arm, causing it to spring upward and away from the danger unconciously. Thus, when he did unleash his dark power, it launched harmlesly into the air.
"Damn it, I'm not done yet!" he shouted angrily, shooting his other arm out from behind and unleashing the black lighning. There was no escaping their deaths this time...
~~~

"Good thinking," Vence commented, his voice a little strained. What he was palnning to do was actually a bit risky; he couldn't do anything but concentrate on building energy. He was a sitting duck at the moment, but not for long. The destraction proved well enough, for now he had just enough energy. Raising his fist towards Zevach, he waited for the right time. And that didn't tae long. As soon as the man recoiled, he struck out again, faster than he had anticipated. This guy was no ordinary assassin, or whatever he was; a lunatic, at the least.

"Covor your face, it might get a bit hot," Vence said, just before he opened his hand. The black lightning was only feet from them, when white hot flames leapt out of Vences hand, tearing through the opposing shadows like nothing.

~~~
"Oh...s**t," Zevach said, eyes wide. He had not expected the kid to have that much power. To be able to use...at such a young age...
Damn it, He said to himself, sinking into the ground just milliseconds before the flames passed over him. He wasn't coming back again, either. He had done what he had come to do, so now he needed to wait...perhaps it'd be best to watch those two.
For now, he was safe in the dark realm. He just would take his time to return to his "home."
~~~

The flamed died away almost as soon as they had come, which revealed just how powerful the flames had been. In it's wake, nothing was left but the ashes of what had been in the way. part of the room felt like it was on fire, the heat left no room for water to exist; you could literally see the water evaporating.

It had taken it's toll, though. Exhausted, Vence dropped down to his knees, catching himself with one hand as he panted a little. It had been awhile since he had used that, and his teacher had warned him of the dangers well enough. Good thing that was only the weak version.

"I hope I don't have to pay for this damage," Vence said, smiling at the humor, despite the sudden encounter...and the quick deaths of three of the most well liked people in the world. He looked over to them, a sad look in his eyes. He had made sure, with all that power he had just used, to avoid leaving so much as a single piece of ash on them. This also meant they were not dried out either, the heat passing around them, as if an invisible sheild was placed there. Well, technically there was, but that was beside the point.

"Now what?" He muttered, mostly to himself. The country was leaderless. There were no heirs to take the throne, and as far as he knew, the king did not have any brothers. For now...well, there would be plenty of uproars, and he supposed disarray and chaos would soon follow.
PostPosted: Tue Jul 21, 2009 8:36 pm

((ARGH! I posted...but it didn't work, this one isn't going to be as good as the first one))

It seemed Zevach was only effected for a moment, for as soon as he had jumped back in response, he was back in an offensive stance to launch another attack.

Vence complemented her move, which had only given her temporary smile that faded when seeing the lighting heading right for them. She felt as if she was gonna die. With that thought in her mind, she didn't bother covering her eyes when Vence instructed, instead she hugged him from behind, burying her face into his back.

Suddenly, another heat wave fell upon them, but it wasn't as strong as the former one. Did Vence not strike with full strength? She trembled abit, but felt nothing else, nor heard anything else till Vence spoke up. He mentioned something about paying for damage, which of course confused her until she finally looked around.

There was an obvious path of attack for everything there was charred to a crumbling black powder. "Oh...my..." Releasing his torso, she backed away to look upon everything else. No one else was there except the poor dead trio upon the ground.

"Now what hm?" She repeated Vence's question. "Nothing much to do now, I guess I'll just grab my things to go home" There seemed to no longer be any reason to travel with the hectic outside would just seeping all the edges. No carefree walking along to new places, no simple quests to bring upon the use of powers. Not anymore, it would be a fight to the dead for anyone the could encounter outside of a city.

[d'oh whee , don't you hate it when that happens? Looks good to me, all the same. 3nodding ]

"Well...not what I meant, but good answer, I guess," Vence said, still looking around. The silence odd silence wasn't making him feel any better off. By now the people around here were long gone, so no one would know about this for a while.

Lucky for Mayloo, she actually had a place to go home too. In the proper sense, Vence didn't. Yes, his village was still there, but...well, it just wasn't the same. After what happened a few years back, things were dramatically different. It wasn't his village anymore.

"So, you'll be heading home?" Vence repeated from her words. "Can't really blame you, after seeing this. I can tell you though, this doesn't happen everyday... far from it. I've never seen this happen before... but it'll probably start happening everywhere soon enough. Home's the best place for you, I suppose."

Something just isn't right, he thought to himself. There was still concern on his face, as he finally looked upon the three lifeless bodies of the most powerful people in the world. Well, not anymore. Why had that guy killed them? For what purpose? The name was still far too familiar to be comforting to him. Zevach... just who was he?

There's just too many questions. Well, he had nothing better to do. He could start his opwn investigation into the whole thing. But then, he might end up commiting suicide, in the long run. So be it though, if he was to learn the truth that way.
PostPosted: Wed Jul 22, 2009 8:28 pm

She didn't move, instead she merely stood frozen for a moment before looking back up at him. "I still would really like to travel...but I know my strength couldn't stand up against much"

Mayloo couldn't help but shiver alittle. It was late and the air had fallen chilled with death, atleast within her mind since the blood lingering still nipped at her. For a moment, she just zoned out while looking away from Vence, who was quickly approuched by someone.

Sphinx had been watching the whole display, and looked on with a malicious expression while watching the two stand around with some sort of morn. It was an entertainment to her really, but she had to cheer them up and get them moving.

Suddenly, changing her expression to one of more excitement, she came running out of her hiding place to approuch Vence "Wow, did you just really burn him? He's such a rude guy. To inflict any kind of damage on him is difficult..." She cooled down and then stuck out her hand. "By the way, I'm Sphinx. I'm guessing your Vence correct?" Without waiting for any replies, she grabbed his hand, shaking it vigourously. "Anyways, if you friend is leaving, I should travel with you instead don't you think?

She had turned around at the sound of running feet followed by the sudden high pitched annoyance of a voice. When she turned around to see who possesed it, it had only bothered her more to see some other girl bothering Vence and normally it seemed to not bug her, but for some reason, she seemed to catch a flare of jealously. The girl was pretty, similiar age, and an elf. No one could compete with an elf really. Humans were boring...

Now she stood there biting her lip in irritation, wondering how Vence would react.

"Umm...." Vence was really speechless at the sudden appearance of this girl...an elf, apparently. The ears sort of gave it away, if the looks in general didn't. That wasn't what made himn speechless, thoguh. He had been around a few elves enough to be able to control himself quite well. No, her sudden babble of words was what made him unable to say anything. And her appearance was questionable... it could be coincidence, but it was strange.

"Umm...who are you again?" Vence asked, taking a small step back. "And how did you know my name? I don't recall there being a nametag anywhere on me," Vence said, glancing down at his plain attire. Nope, no name tag. Just a small pouch. With just a pouch that didn't even hold anything in significance, he felt much lighter than usual; He was most commonly found with a sword strapped to his back, some fairly weighted armor, and a hefty pack (due to travelling). He glanced at mayloo, a confused expression on his face.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 23, 2009 2:01 pm

Spinx smiled sweetly during the whole silence Vence create from being so caught off guard. It was alittle amusing too but at the same time, annyoning. The man needed to speak if they were going to go anywhere.

Finally he did, but it was only to question her name again. Maybe he was a slow learner. "Sphinx, my name is Sphinx" Saying it twice would better work out to commit to memory. "So are we going to travel or what?" At this statement, she had disregarded his question. Maybe she was just a lucky name guesser. Besides, she was now practically in his face wondering when to go.

Mayloo giggled alittle, maybe she was delerious cause she still was angered by how the elf bother him so. With a sign of surrender, she stepped in knowing to finally speak up as well. "You aren't not traveling with him...

She let a silence befall them again before finishing with a slightly happy smug. "Cause I am. He never replaced me"The sentence spoken sounded as if they were having relationship issues or something and unfortunantly, she couldn't think of it as very funny, atleast for the moment. "Just go home little elf" Despite age or anything, it was obvious the elf was shorter, but only by a bit.

Her eyes narrowed. "What happened to going home, what happened to not being strong enough?" She smirked right back while crossing her arms. She didn't want to end such persistance on her part. Maybe alittle more begging and she could go with them. Prehaps rid Mayloo in the process.

Suddenly she faced Vence and grabbed his hands tightly. "She's mean, let me go please?"

Once more, Mayloo stood there, rolling her eyes and wishing for the girl to just vanish.

Vence sighed, still a little confused. This girl was getting a little annoying. Far too energetic, almost like she was faking it.

"She's not being mean from my point of view. And I never said was going anywhere alone," Vence added, glancing back to Mayloo. "The roads are going to be more dangerous now, so even going home, some protection is neccesary." He looked back to the girl, a slight frown coming across his face.

"Sphinx, right? Named after the mythical creature? Anyway, if you want to travel so badly, you can tag along, but don't expect much of anything."

~~~
Back in his residence, an old, old mansion, preserved only by his dark magic, as he preserved himself, Zevach sat in an old, gothic-style chair, at the head of well preserved table, able to seat well over a dozen people. As to where he was in Almanast, it was unknown, except for him and select others he trusted. Unfortunately, those select others were dead by now, so technically, only he knew where he was.
All he had to do now was wait for the dominoes to fall. He could interfere and speed up the process, but it was less work for him if he didn't have to. No, he wouldn't bother himself with that work. Then again...
"Those damn kids," he muttered to himself. those two...they had some skill. They could possibly pose a threat to his plan. However unlikely, any chance was still a chance, and a chance he was not willing to chance. He would have to set something up for them. Something "special." It would take some time, so for now, he would wait to see how things went.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 24, 2009 11:00 am
She noticed Vence was getting just as annoyed as she was. The girl needed to be silenced or something, like by duct tape. Were all elves this...hyped?
When he spoke of her being walked home, she couldn't help but smile alittle before a blush flooded lightly upon her usually pale face. Her stance slipped abit and so around she twirled to face away from them. There was no way she wanted to show any weakness to such an inwardly wicked girl. There was something about her, then again it could've been the whinny voice. Who knows.
Sphinx did not approve much in Vence's idea, but dare she persist for she was trying to gain positive points.
"Yep, partial lion in which all should fear I believe, that and the statues standing tall after thousands of years of sandy wear." She couldn't help but show off some knowledge obtained by others. They all thought they knew more then her, but she could fix that quicky. Just a quick slip into their mind and she could state anything they knew.
Vence was spared of that today. "So I guess we should be on our way to dropping off Mayloo right?" Her lips twisted into a smirk. No work was needed to rid of the girl.
"N-no, I think I may walk on my own. It's not that bad right?" She said this all without turning around. "But if I may ask Vence, Can you help me find my things? I sort of forgot where I put them..." Her stance went from tall to alittle weak as if lost when really she was trying to find an excuse to leave Sphinx behind.
"Why fear a half lion thing?" Vence asked, shrugging. "I think a phoenix is far more dangerous, considering it has an advantage over a sphinx to begin with." If she was trying to show off or something, it wasn't working. Going into the topic of mythical creatures was a bad idea for her: he knew most of what needed to be known about them. Whether they existed or not was left for fate to decide, but magic had indeed given people the abilty to summon "prototypes," so to speak. Miniture versions of the real thing.
Once again, he left the two girls to speak for a few seconds, content to not get too deep into this matter. Experience told him tread lightly over cases like this. Sphinx seemed to enjoy the thought of Mayloo leaving, which didn't make this any easier. At least Mayloo was trying to pressure him into doing anything. Rather, it was almost like she was being pressured.
"As far as I know, there's just the usual dangers, but something could pop up. and leaving behind your stuff would be a problem," Vence added, basically saying "yes" to her request. He thoguht he could sense what she was really trying to do, but hey, maybe both were the problem.
