"They only have steak at La Costa Belle. Hope you don't mind going to a fancy restaurant." Stepping over a fallen pillar, she smiled. "We might have to stop by somewhere to change. I think they have a dress code."

"No. I can live without the steak. I've been living off the land for a long time. I could use a meal that doesn't have squirrel or snake in it."

"Miles, all we have to do is stop by my cousin's husband's apartment. I left my fancy clothes over there, and I'm pretty sure I can find a pair of slacks and a button up shirt for you." Turning to face him, she crossed her arms, a determined glint in her eye. "I think you deserve a nice meal. Besides, I desire a steak and don't deny a rich girl her food."

"I don't think you understand. I don't dress up. You can get all fancied up, but I'm going to remain in this outfit. If the restaurant doesn't approve, then so be it, but I will not change into an outfit that leaves me unprotected and unarmed because it also leaves you unprotected."

He crossed his arms and stopped walking.

She pouted. "But then it'll be more like a business date and less like a real date."

"And if you get attacked, I won't have any weapons to defend you, just my spells. You're the one who was terrified just a second ago about Alcott coming after you. I'm not leaving you unguarded, got it?"

His eyes turned red.

"Alright, alright, but can we at least stop by so I can change?" she asked, defeated.

Miles raised his hands.

"By all means. Don't let me stop you."

"Yay!" she cheered, grinning. "Off to the Land of the Love Birds!"

Miles shook his head.

"Lovebirds?" Suddenly I'm concerned."

"You should be," she laughed, practically skipping with joy. 
"Dominick and Xaene just got married, and they're having so much sex that if Xaene were a girl and Dominick was straight, Xaene would probably already be pregnant with little Dommy's and Xaene's. I actually walked in on them once. While they're both very pretty men, he's still my cousin and it still burned into my eyes." She scrunched up her nose, then sighed. "I feel like a nun compared to them."

"I've never witnessed the act of love making. And for obvious reasons, I haven't taken part in it. But as far as I'm concerned, it doesn't matter."

He put his mask and hood back on.

"Now, tell me more about that 'cell phone' device you used. Where I come from, nothing like that exists."

"Cell phone? I pretty told you the gist of it. It's kind of like a walkie-talkie, except it has a screen, and you can play games on it." Pulling her phone out, she lightly tapped the 'Temple Run' app and showed him the screen as the game started to play. As she played the game, she continued to explain cell phones. "Theu come in all shapes and sizes, and you can contact anyone with one, provided they have a phone too."

"Walkie talkie? I don't understand."

One of his eyes turned purple in his confusion, and the other one turned yellow.

"Okay, this is going nowhere fast...it's a way to talk to people when they're too far away to physically talk to." Slipping her phone back in her pocket, she smiled as she found the exit. "Oh look, we're almost there!"
