With everyone else voicing their views on eggs they'd had previously, Sera frowned and voiced the opposite, "I've never had an egg before, let alone seen one hatch." There was a first time for everything, after all, and it was at least a little interesting... She didn't like the color of it so far, though, nor did she like grass-types - though she didn't know for certain what it was, the leaf was kind of a dead giveaway that it was at least partially a grass-type.
Nicolette nodded eagerly, watching the egg with rapt attention. "Oh yes," she said, almost wriggling in place in her excitement. His theory on what had caused the egg to suddenly start hatching was riveting also, and her expression brightened. "It could have! That's a very interesting thought. It very well could have been what made it start to hatch." Or it might not have been - she had absolutely no idea, but thinking about it was fun - though, not as much fun as watching the egg hatch. It seemed so adorable thus far, with how slowly and steadily it hatched.

There was a louder crack and the shell split apart, loosing a triangular chunk, near the top; a tiny claw emerged, having 'punched' the shell away, before retreating again with small, almost complaining 'chee' from within. A few moments after loosing the fragment, an inquisitive, though perhaps not quite 'seeing' yet, blue eye, surrounded by black, peeked out of the fracture at Lin, and then at the others, before the Chikorita, finally revealing itself, poked her entire head through the hole that her leaf had made, bursting most of the top of the eggshell into little pieces. "Huh." It wasn't clear if Lin knew what had just hatched, but he addressed the pokémon anyway. "Hello."
