Juno looked thoughtfully after the Pidgeot and then down at Millicent. <> The Heracross buzzed her own wings and shrugged. <>

Aulus gave Juno a suspicious look. "I'm not sure we should be advocating flying lessons here without some thought, Juno." He then explained what she'd just said to Tam and shrugged. "Aerodactyl fly, why not a Craindos... with careful instructions to the bird involved not to drop her." Even a rock type would suffer if dropped from a great height.

<< None of my kind could headbutt me into the air. I am strong and not a ball.>> Millicent argued, then frowned up at the birds. << I wish to fly myself, I do not want to be carried...>>

Tambrey smirked and nodded.
"I don't know about out here. Maybe practice somewhere less conspicuous or in a high ceiling training room... Could, um, be useful to have a rock type who doesn't mind being flown in to a situation..."

Millicent snorted suddenly and warily looked at the sky, head down and ready to butt; apparently, even though she'd never really heard the word since waking, she understood what an 'Aerodactyl' was, and was ready to defend against one.

"Hu?" It took Aulus a few moment to guess what had riled Millicent, and when he drew a conclusion it was still only a guess. "Oh, there aren't any here," he waved a hand at the sky, empty other than their own birds, "it was just a statement of fact." He wished there were Aerodactyl here! That would be awesome.

<> Juno replied with a shake of her head. <>

"Does it hurt bending around to get your head up your own arse, Juno?" Aulus asked with a snort and a shake of his head.

Juno grinned. <>

Millicent snorted dubiously, just because the human couldn't see them, didn't mean they weren't hiding up there... Though maybe the birds were keeping them away.

<< I can headbutt better than you can.>>
Millicent decided to inform the insect with a matter-of-fact tone.

<> Juno shrugged. <>

"You know it's kind of like hearing somebody talking on the phone," Aulus said to Tam as he watched the pokemon talk. "You can maybe kind of hear the other side of the conversation and make a guess at what's being said? But you're not really sure, and you're not sure if you should be listening either."

<< You said you were a Heracross.>> Millicent pointed out, frowning as Juno described herself as a 'jack'.

"I think I know what you mean..." Tambrey nodded. "Though, um, only really through Franklin still... Tarana really doesn't talk much at all. I, um, think I've gotten one word out of him, actually, since we've known about this..."

"We'll have to get you some more then," Aulus replied with a smile, "Espeon? Or how about a Beldum? Metagross kicks arse." He kind of wanted one himself but, again, he kind of wanted a whole lot of pokemon.

<> Juno explained. <>

"Isn't there more to that phrase?" Aulus mused aloud, turning to Tam. "The jack of all trades one, like how 'blood is thicker than water' is actually 'the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb'. I'm sure it's another one like that but I can't remember what the rest of it is, or the proper version or whatever."

PostPosted: Fri Jul 10, 2015 2:51 pm
"Um... I could evolve Linnaeus to be an Espeon... Metagross are very neat though, yes... Um. There's a few around the base used for computations. Our lab analysis is fed through them sometimes. Most of them, um, don't really say much either though..."

<< Sounds more like an insult...>>
Millicent decided and muttered, considering the phrase carefully.

"Jack of all trades?" Tambrey glanced at Juno, and thought about it. "Um. I think it depends. I remember hearing a lot of different ones... My mother used to have one that was, um, 'Jack of all trades, master of none, oft' times better than master of one'. I know there were others though..."

<> Juno replied affably with a shrug. <>

"That sounds familiar," Aulus nodded, "but I wouldn't be surprised if there were a lot more out there." He had to admit he rather envied Juno's easy attitude; if somebody had said something he said about himself was negative he couldn't just shrug it off like that, he'd have to make an issue of it with plenty of acidic snarling. He wasn't as terrible as he had been a few years ago but he was privately aware that he was probably still too sensitive to stuff like that.

"I suppose flexibility and specialising both have their advantages," he said after a brief pause.

<< Explain?>> Millicent requested, with a tilt of her head; she wasn't sure how being described as 'not good' at things, anything, even if being described as good at 'one', was not an insult, or at least a slight on one's talents.

"I'd hope so..." Tambrey smirked, her own mind on the fact that, while she specialized in her genetics and bio-sciences, she'd taken on a lot of flexibility over the years, training to go out on missions, taking part in pokémon stealing, learning, and a lot from Aulus in fact, forms of combat...
She was still most comfortable in a lab, or studying something, but she was proud of having other skills now.

<> Juno shrugged. <>

"Heh, yeah. I mean I don't think I'm ever going to work in the labs or in tech but it's nice to know some python, when I've learned a bit more I can maybe code a few simple things for my own arm. I've been studying that genetic stuff you gave me on the fossils too, not sure I've really got my head around it but I'll keep poking at it." Even if he didn't have any real 'use' for the knowledge it felt good to have it.

PostPosted: Fri Jul 10, 2015 3:40 pm
<< Why can't birds smash trees?>> She was pretty sure Aerodactyl could smash trees if it wanted to. Did no birds get to tree-smashing size?

"Coding stuff for your arm must be really neat..." Tambrey thought, then, after a moment, seemed to realise that, technically, if she wasn't a little antsy about screwing up something inside her, she /could/ code something for her own arm already... It would just... be a lot weirder and permanent... and biological. So she wouldn't do it.
But the thought led to another one.
"You know, um, you could probably approach genetics the way you, um, approach code... There's a little bit of overlap, I'd think... I always thing of it as being like, uh, building blocks. Just. A very large amount of very tiny blocks..."

"To be fair, I sometimes approach code by throwing my tablet at the wall," Aulus replied with a wry smile. "It's got that rubber case for a reason." Sometimes, when the bug could not be found, you just had to damn well throw the thing and go burn off the frustration in the exercise facilities for a while. "But yeah, I suppose so, I'll see if that helps me get my head around it."

<> Juno replied thoughtfully, <>

PostPosted: Fri Jul 10, 2015 4:07 pm
"Heh." Tambrey grinned "Well... Hopefully it helps. I guess, though, um, for all I just said, the only computer coding I can really do is make something say 'Hello World' over and over... Oh, and, um, make it add numbers together. I remember doing that. I think that might have been Python too..."

<< Braviary? Car?>> What were these strange words?

<> Juno waved a hand, her limited knowledge running out, <>

"Oh, sure," Aulus headed over to the pair of pokemon and hunkered down so that Millicent could see the screen on his arm. Tapping the web browser he did a quick search for 'car' and showed her the image results. "Most of them aren't that flashy," he explained, "and... there aren't obvious pictures of humans next to them to compare size but you see the seats in there?" he indicated on one of the images. "I suppose you can kind of extrapolate from that. An average car probably weighs a ton and a half which is...." Aulus pulled up a calculator on his arm and tapped in some figures. "About twenty one or twenty two of you," he concluded, feeling rather pleased with his handy hand.
