D: Search Great Room

Caramell was far to excited about all of this to have any clue what was going on and she almost forgot herself she was supposed to be in character as she spotted her sister (who was rather well cosplayed up for this event, no surprise there) slip into a room.

Delegator dabbed a tissue in the corner of his eye as he listened to the horrid news. Moneybags, dead! Oh the horror! How close he had been with the rough old stallion, always the faithful right hand man he was to Moneybags.

Except now he was dead!

Who the hell was he supposed to boss around now?!

Oh, for pony's sake! Stomping a hoof down in frustration, Delegator trotted off into the Great Room, watching a few other ponies trickle in. With a huff he raised a hoof at them and shook it in a warding motion, as if trying to shoo them away. "Here here, mind what you touch! That's a dead stallions property I'll have you know!" he grunted, moving over to shoo the one pony away from the book. He cast his gaze down at the book swiftly, trying to be sneaky about it, to see if it held any clues. He was Moneybag's right hand man after all, it only made sense he should receive the old fart's legacy!!

A: Talk to [NPC] [Habeus Corpses]

Well this was just great! It figured even in death the horrible stallion would turn this into some kind of game for his money. Hadn't he done enough to her? Bitter Pill certainly felt she was the most deserving with all she'd been through. Grumbling under her breathe, she looked around, using her unicorn horn for light. This house was beyond big, though she remembered some of it's layout when she had spent her short time here. It wasn't surprising this house held secrets though! Sighing she decided it was best to be as careful as possible. He was murdered here after all and if that letter had been truthful the murderer was among them.

Making her way over to the lawyer she decided to ask some questions first. Surely the lawyer had some idea of how that letter had made it here. And well even if she didn't surely she had some answers!

Fantasia was absolutely ecstatic about her assigned role, though it seemed to be a character of minor importance, the way the mystery had begun, she was sure that a lawyer would be initially annoyed be called here, but eager regarding the turn of events and possibly inheriting the fortune... whatever there was left of it. Moneybags seemed to have a lot of ex-wifes, and that is a lot of alimony. She dressed specifically for the occassion, in proper business attire with fake glasses and her hair pinned up in a professional bun. She was an actress after all, she was ready to play the part.

Torts Illustrated started the evening displeased with being here. The last thing she wanted was to be anywhere near her employer, the ex-wife Lucky. She would much rather be in her own office trying to finish up her work so she could move onto something else. Divorce law was so irritating to deal with, and she was glad to be rid of her current dealings with Moneybags. But as his lawyer read the will, Torts became intrigued. Whatever money there may be left could be inherited by anyone, even her? She tried not to smile as she thought about how that meant she could finally open her own practice and leave divorce law behind her.

But where to start? [As a good actress, Fantasia was well aware that butlers ALWAYS know everything]

Torts walked up to A) Talk to : Rank and File, to inquire more about the late Moneybags and any relevant on goings that perhaps she wasn't already aware of re: most recent divorce. "Excuse me, sir, but as you are obviously well versed in the on goings of this house, have you noticed anything unusual recently? Odd comings and goings, or strange behavior from your employer?"

It took some time for Cremebunny to get in character but boy did he get into it. Donning quite a fancy outfit and looking suspiciously at others (not that he could give a serious look, he kept smiling in amusement, everything was just so exciting!). He was Moneybags' best friend, close friend. It was a terrible shame he was gone, if only he and his friend could share one more drink together...

He (as Checked Cheque) made his way to the Great Room. He had always admired the detail and the furniture in this room, decorated beautifully--somehow now it just brought sad memories.

Cat wasn't exactly sure what she was doing here but decided to give it her best try. She looked down at the pad of paper she had been taking notes in as she placed her pencil behind her right ear. Her character sheet was taped to the inner front cover of the pad in case she needed it. Closing the pad she moved over to her chosen room trying to act like anĀ investigative journalist.

Press moved into the parlor and over to the portraits. Ignoring the others in the room she reached up and lifted the portrait in front of her of the wall and examined the wall behind it before turning her attention to the portrait she was holding and examining every inch of it including inside the frame.

Marvel, er Satin, had studied well for her role (or at least she hope she did, this was a bit like cosplaying she told her self but involved actual acting). She look in her options, she'd rather not talk to anyone mostly because she wasn't completely confident in her acting and wanted to give that a little more time to be comfortable in the role. That left with searching, most areas seemed to be covered but one place. She went to the kitchen to search around, maybe she'd find some blood on a knife or something in a trashbin?

Obi was.....very intrigued on her part of playing a male role. So she searched the attic of mysterious closest and found a suit that would do. With some hair dye and makeup, she was already for her role.

Book Smart was dismayed to hear of the passing. But perhaps, he could find the killer and maybe...a rare book or the library could be rewarding for helping. Eying how most were headed into the Great Room, He headed over to the elevator, talking out loud to Stickyfingers.

"IF the killer tried to use this, he would be in a rut. So how did he come in and out of the rooms without anyone noticing? The staff would have at least heard or seen a trace of said killer. And this, looks like it was in some use, since there is no dust on any part of it. The real question is....was this broken before or after the death?"

Blind Love hadn't expected such a character to be given to her, but she was going to do her best. Shaking her head, she settled into her role, narrowing her eyes at the characters nearby.

Bright Blessings held himself high as he eyed the room. Normally, he wouldn't have a care for the situation at hand, but the promise of receiving everything Moneybags had? Well, that was a rewarding deal, wasn't it? Now, think. He could spread out and investigate the other rooms, but he doubted he'd find anything useful anytime soon. He might as well talk to one of the staff members. Perhaps the maid? Wouldn't she have found the body? She was here the most out of everyone, wasn't she? Maybe she knew something.

Slipping his hair into a loose ponytail, Bright Blessings headed to Fuchsia, nodding towards her once he approached.

"Fuchsia, surely you were there the night of his death? Do you remember anyone visiting at that time, perhaps?"

A. Speak to Fuchsia.

Move aside Miss Marple, Biblio was on the scene. Murder mysteries were right up his alley and he was barreling down it doing 75 and knocking over trash cans. But now was not the time for metaphorical car crashes he needed to get into character! By which he meant he needed to put on a fancy mustache and ransack a dead man's house.

Even from beyond the grave Moneybags was a thorn in his side. He should have known better than to come and get roped into this spectacle. They had never been on great or even good terms, what had made him think that perhaps the old man would spare even a sliver of posthumous remorse for his behavior.

He didn't particularly care for the money, nor for bringing the old man's murderer to justice, but he was locked in a mansion with a killer and for that reason alone he would seek out his answers.

While he was certain Habeus Corpses would have plenty of dirt, and a loose tongue after the startling news, she likely knew as much as the rest of them in regards to the murderer. Rumble didn't much like the idea, but he felt the best place to start was to speak with the smug butler.

"You don't seem much concerned for being in the same situation as the rest of us. Which makes me feel you know something we don't. Moneybags wasn't well liked, but not to the point of murder. Inheritance wouldn't be a concern when he's so damn old already. None of this sits right with me."

Holly wasn't too sure how to play the part of Sea Major, thinking over the role before deciding on what to do in this situation.

D: Search Great Room

Sea Major was taken back a bit by what the lawyer had said. A murder huh? Well then, she had been called to this will reading. It couldn't hurt to look around some. Even if she refused to get involved with the greedy stallion and his plans, wanting to keep her career going strong, this could end up being good for her if she did figure out the murder. This was going to be her's for the win, and she would get that reward!

Making her way into the Great Room, her eyes went to the piano and the book on one of the tables. Those were the things that stuck out to her, but if anything else stuck out she would check those out as well. However, she decided that out of instinct it would be best to check the piano, then go and try to get a look at the book... that was if she would be able to get a glance at it with those two others looking at it right now. So probably just the piano at this point. If one of the others however tried to take the book and hide it, she would make sure that she got it from them. If they were hiding evidence, she wanted to know.

With the room being more dark than normal, she didn't like how dark it was. However, she knew it could not be helped with the generators and the storm outside. Perhaps she would come across something to help her with lighting up areas when she moved to another room?

A: Talk to [NPC] Fuchsia Fussbudget

TH was having a hard time playing detective. Detectives are nice and solve cases and mysteries. That's almost the opposite of being a pirate! He only knew how the plunder and hoard treasure! The invitation was so sudden that the lad did not even have a chance to go to the library to look up what detectives usually look for while gathering clues.

He showed up at the gathering of phonies with his tattered scarf and a pirate hat. But seeing how in character most phonies are, he decided to turn his hat around to make it seem 'detective' like. Eyes narrowed as he scanned everyone in the room while he listened to what was going on in this meeting. The sound of thunder did not scare him one bit. He'd went through worse being out at sea with the rest of his crew.

A few gasps were heard in the room when the lawyer finished reading Moneybags' will. "Find out who the murderer is hmm?" All he could think about was the loot he could walk away with. This pirate loved nothing more than treasure and treasure maps. He wanted Moneybags' fortune but he knew he had to play his part first to determine who the murderer is!

Eyes narrowed, he became suspicious of every phony in the room. The urge in his piratey guts told him to either talk to Wine About It or... his pretty little sister, Fuchsia Fussbudget. He decided to go over to the lass to try and get any sort of information out of her. The last thing he remembered was that he grew up to be tall and handsome. His charms would be of no use against her butler brother. He might not even budge the slightest.

TH loosened up his scarf, and fixed it so that it resembled a tie-like shape. Perhaps this is how detective gentlecolts are supposed to look like? He tipped his hat a bit more and approached the housekeeper with caution and a smile. "Arr. Fussbucket is it?" he asked, and circled around her in the dim lighting. "How kind of you to let us search everywhere for clues. But tell me, lass, what makes you so certain that your crew has nothing to hide?"

He wanted to search other areas so badly but he wanted information from this phony first. She might tell him something that may become useful to him as a detective.

A - Talk to Rank and File

This was certainly something interesting to Twilight, or rather she should be thinking Saddlebags. A sweet country bumpkin who seemed to be rather unexpected here being the long lost cousin she was. This would be an interesting ride she was sure! And plus she always loved paying detective games, so this was right up her ally!

Slowly she walked up to Rank and File. She wasn't sure about this entire thing, but she decided that the best way to start would be to talk to someone who might know something that was going on! After all, they seemed pretty... suspicious while the poor lawyer lady, Habeus Corpses, seemed rather unhappy with what was going on with Moneybags' will. Though it was 100% understandable considering she had no idea what he had decided in the end.

Nodding to herself again, she confidently stepped the rest of the way over to Rank and File, "Excuse me, but perhaps you could fill me in on any strange behavior that Moneybags might have been showing when you saw him last?" She smiled as sweetly as she could at him, hoping that he would be forth-giving with any information that he may actually have. "After all, if he was suspicious of anyone, it would be important to know if this changed his behavior." She nodded fervently and waited for his answer. Hopefully it was polite as well.

"Where are you going?" Shrill X, nay, Edelweiss hissed after her sweet and darling fiancee, as he chose to abandon her to fate and presumably head into the kitchen for a snack. "Whatever, just bring me back something good while you're there!"

Left to her own devices, Edelweiss wandered from one side of the room to the other and would have been wringing her hands, if she'd had any. Oh, such terrible fortune! Though it certainly could have been worse. There were certain truths she'd rather stay buried and with him dead there was nobody else to tell the tale. (Shrill X laughed inwardly at the thought of taking old Moneybags for a drunken romp.)

Eventually she ended up in the parlor and she daintily (but not really, Shrill kinda just threw herself down on one of the dusty couches) sat. "Anyone want to look at my ring? It's super big." And it was, because Shrill X had made some attempt other than just turn up. She'd thrown on a blonde wig, a pink scarf and a huge (but very fake) engagement ring.

A- Wine About It

Never could have a more appropriate role been assigned! Devastatingly beautiful? Yes yes. Bubbly personality? Oh, of course. TART did not half-a** anything, she was a whole-a** only phony, which meant nothing was spared in preparing for her role as a bombshell: primped and pampered into a lovely blurple glow, hair curled and makeup excessive. Just as it should be.

Lucky Clover was going to accomplish many things that night. For one, lots of money. Oodles and oodles of money because she would of course find the murderer, clever lass that she is. Or something. Right now what she was going to accomplish is gettin' crunk. Or whatever variety of inebriated that wine delivered, TART had always been a hard alcohol sort of gal.

"Sugar blossom baby, would you mind getting me something to sip on? Or plain tell me what's what." After all, the staff always knew what happened in the house, and drunk staff was more likely to tell! There's that clever part! TART had to give herself a hearty back-pat for her lush-driven instincts guiding her.

E. Search Dining Room.
Good ol' Fire Flig - Vigorish narrowed his eyes and scanned the room (and the Phonies) cautiously, still in his examination. The servants were suspicious, yes, but they were already crowded with questions. Vigorish decided he could casually take in the gossip, for bookies of dubious background were very good at hearing things, and start on clue-hunting himself. With a grunt, the rough Phony skulked about the fancy funereal dining room, going about his investigation like a man used to wrangling money out of a house: pulling out drawers, looking under rugs and knocking on walls and trimmings as he went. Fire Flight was...not unaccustomed to the practice himself.
