Seto didn't want to call Isis, but decided it wasn't worth objecting. Maybe he could give her a piece of his mind in regards to sending them to that psychopath. If Jounouchi was willing to read the dull book instead of make the simple phone call who was Seto to argue?
'Pretty much everyone is online, and anyone who'd be recorded in any sort of written text would definitely have an online presence at this point. If they have ancestors they could possibly have dropped out somewhere along the line, changed names, cut ties with past relations, etc. However, we'll get a pretty comprehensive picture that will at most only miss a handful of modern day decedents. More importantly, once you enter all the present data the computer will do all the search work. We'll just have to wait for search results. The hardest searches are usually finding ancestors as their might not be solid records tracing them back, we have the hard part, so it'll be absolute cake for the computer to give us the rest,' Seto stated, happy to retreat into technology once again. If Isis sent them on another quest into the world of the obscure the contact had better be polite if not helpful, and at the very least their home had better be clean.
((Storm blew out my router sometime in the am between Sunday and Monday, 3 days without internet - barring a stop in at a cafe in the village to check work emails - brutal. Mostly because I had thesis work to do so I couldn't just try to chill and disconnect from society. I had to try and struggle to write my paper with partial sources as about half of my citations were online. Back in Birmingham now, but moving to my place tomorrow, not sure when we'll set up internet. Possibly not before I leave for Spain on the 6th. So I will once again likely be poof, and possibly be poof all the way until the 15th when I get back from Spain.))

Jounouchi stared at Kaiba for a good couple seconds following his explanation. He hardly understood any of what the other had just said, "...right. Okay, well I'll leave the computer part to you then, because I had no idea what all that means." he opened the book to take a quick look on their way to the helicopter, "...s**t, this is all in Chinese!" he slowly looked to Kaiba, "...can you read Chinese? I don't even know if it's Mandarin or Cantonese... did China even have two languages back then?" he frowned, only recognizing a few of the characters here and there. He had a hard enough time just reading the kanji characters in his own language; this was impossible.
((That sucks to hear; it's awful working on papers without internet. But alright, have fun in Spain and good luck on everything!))

Seto could not help but slap his forehead in frustration with Jounouchi's utter ignorance of the world around him. 'First,' he stated with great exasperation, 'written Chinese is not multiple languages. Chinese is one writing system shared amongst 7 or so spoken languages. There are further dialects within each of these spoken languages. Mandarin and Cantonese are simply the two most common dialects, or languages, in China. So if that book is in Chinese then all you need to know is written Chinese, one writing system. Even if it's old it should be discernible to someone who can read Chinese. Which brings me to I suppose the only relevant point here, yes, I can read Chinese. I guess that means I'm combing through the book and you are communicating with Isis.'
Seto rolled his eyes as a final gesture of his disbelief at Jounouchi's ignorance and tossed him his mobile.
((Thanks, survived the move okay, now just need to survive unpacking. sweatdrop ))

Jounouchi fell silent again as he digested that information, feeling like an idiot now. Of course, he would never admit that, so instead just puffed up in annoyance. He opened his mouth to retort before a phone was suddenly tossed at him. He quickly brought his hands out, fumbling for a moment to get a proper grip before successfully catching it. He narrowed his eyes, shoving the book back at Kaiba, "Yeah, well... yeah." was all he managed to retort with.
He muttered something under his breath as he snatched the paper with Isis' number back from Kaiba, quickly starting to dial.
((The fun part!))

'Put it on speaker phone,' Seto suggested, 'I want to know what I'm getting myself into in advance this time.'
((It has not been fun but mostly done, hopefully just cleaning up the rubbish and finding somewhere to put random bits tonight.))

Jounouchi obliged, taking a moment to find the speaker button, pressing it, then calling Isis.
"Yes, this is Isis." she replied, sounding groggy.
"Isis, hey, it's Jounouchi again."
"Oh, hello Jounouchi San. How have things been going?"
"We visited Domon. He thinks it's a Shikigami. He doesn't know any way to destroy them though."
"A Shikigami? Like a god of death?" Isis sounded surprised.
"No, that's Shinigami. Shikigami are spirits that, well... apparently they make peoples' lives miserable."
((Well at least you're getting there then!))

'Your contact has given us a book of ancient names that might lead us to a modern descendent who'd know more about summoning the things, and possibly the person who summoned this one. However, even the person who summoned it can only remove their contract, that doesn't necessarily banish the thing. You wouldn't happen to know anyone slightly more helpful in the long term solution department would you,' Seto chimed in unhappily.
((Thank you for the birthday things! smile Off to Spain tomorrow and as my adviser is considering my time in Spain as proper vacation I'm not going to struggle to find wifi if it isn't just free in either hotel. Will be back around the 15th if that is the case, although I will probably pay for it at least one or two days just to not go mad. We'll see, might be good to try and cope without wifi if it isn't free.))

"Domon San was the best contact I had." Isis said apologetically, "If he does not know a more permanent solution, then I know of no others who would. I apologize for that."
"Hey, you did what you could, and we did learn a lot from that, so don't apologize." Jounouchi chastised.
Isis considered a bit, "Well, from the little I do know of Japanese folklore, is it not normally Shinto spirits that have means of being banished?"
"I guess..." Jounouchi said as he thought it over, "From the stories I do remember, usually if someone managed to get rid of some demon or spirit or something, it was usually a ghost. I think most of our ghosts come from Shintoism."
"Then I may have one other contact that could possibly be of use. She is nowhere near as well-versed as Domon San, but she is a Shinto priestess, and not merely a ceremonial one at that." Isis offered.
"Yeah, that'd be great! What's her name?" Jounouchi asked.
"Sen Futata." Isis replied, "I met her shortly before Battle City. She had had an encounter with Malik and his Ghouls; though she herself plays Duel Monsters only casually, she allows other players to come and use her temple to duel. Malik targeted that area looking for strong duelists to make into Ghouls."
"Tch, sometimes I forget some of the horrible things that guy did." Jounouchi muttered, "Did they manage to stop him?"
"Unfortunately I was unable to arrive until after he had taken control of some duelists and left. However, I kept in contact with Futata San after, and she revealed to me that her friends returned after the Battle City Finals, unharmed." Isis explained.
((You're welcome! And alright, have fun!))

'banishing sounds good,' Seto butted in, relieved, 'if you can give us her details after we get my computer decoding this book we'll set off.'

"Her temple is in Domino City, actually." Isis took a moment to look up the address before relaying it to the boys. "She should be a lot easier to get along with than Domon San; tell her you are friends with me and she will be willing to do all she can to help."
"Thanks Isis." Jounouchi scratched down the address.
((Got it, good luck!))

Seto pocketed his mobile after Jounouchi ended the call and handed it back. 'Office first and then Sen Futata,' Seto directed, glancing idly through the tome once more. Not that he had any intention of reading this thing. As soon as that task was relegated back to him it only took him a fraction of a second to decide that scanning the book into the computer is what they'd be doing.
((I did have wifi in Spain actually, but just didn't have much time to sit online, and typing on the tablet is pretty annoying. Love the portability, but will need a keyboard for that thing.))

Jounouchi nodded, looking the address over after he had written it down, trying to think on if he knew the area. After some consideration, he realized it was near where Bakura lived, "Good, this shouldn't be too far."
((Oh, yeah I hate typing on tablets. Definitely should get a keyboard for it.))

'Great, let's get back to my office, get this book scanned and translated, and let the computer begin the search for descendents,' Seto ordered firmly.
It was just short of evening time when the helicopter set them down on the roof of Kaiba Corp. Seto hadn't been back in his office since the evening that started this whole mess, and he certainly wasn't eager to go back in at night. It wasn't so late that all his employees would be off home yet, but by the time they were through with everything related to this book they might once again be alone in the building at night. Seto decided not to voice this concern just yet. Hopefully he could get the system set up to do what he wanted and get out of the building before midnight. If they actually managed to survive this whole ordeal he would definitely be adding a late night security team to his annual budget.
((Alright, back in Birmingham for a good long while and finally have my new place all set up, including internet. So hopefully won't poof for weeks at a time anytime soon. smile ))

Jounouchi was glancing around as they entered the quiet building, a shiver running down his spine. There had been no need for Kaiba to voice his concerns; Jounouchi was having the same ones, "God it's creepy being back here." he murmured, "Is anyone even here still?"
((Yay!))

'Probably, yes,' Seto answered uncertainly. Most of his employees didn't have the work ethic required to burn the midnight oil well into the early am the way he did, which is why they were not the owners of massively profitable corporations. Still, he had plenty of employees who did work long hours or who worked slightly unconventional hours for a variety of reasons. 'Chances are the last of the staff will be gone by midnight. That's when security check out until about 6am as well, something I think I'll be needing to rectify in the near future. At the very least, for the next 3 or so hours, somewhere in this building are a few members of the security team. So as long as we are out of here before then we won't be alone in the building,' Seto said, attempting to reassure both Jounouchi and himself.
