Yea I'm not in the towns very often, and as I generally have my computer muted unless I'm watching a video/listening to music, I don't think I've ever heard the theme, if so it wasn't memorable. I don't think I'm going to run out and try to give it a listen now though.

Yea "Billy" got a snake for Christmas, and he got bitten. It was a nice child abuse special. It was also a Pokemon snake I think.

Haha, I know it was blasphemous in all the wrong ways. Which I guess is probably better than just outright offensive but still.

And...MORGEY!!!!!!!!!!! Haha, you live! You drowning in dissertation mayhem still? Got one of my 3 papers done, working on the second now...so not fun! Especially as all my classes are Monday and the first assigned LENGTHY novels (I'm audio booking one, forget the other, I'll read a summary) and the second an actual assignment for discussion. My professors really must hate me. ~_~

Technically, although home has an XBox, which has not led to much productivity. So this week so far hasn't been fun, because I'm doing what I should have been doing the last three weeks. >> Oh and did I complain about how I ordered a book for it off Amazon and they sent me a children's book called Penguin? Which kept making me giggle while complaining about it which is annoying.

AND YAY LIVING

Ah that's not fun. Good plan. Hope you get through it all alive.

Oh also, I hate LK, because he encouraged me to actually listen to Lady Gaga and enjoy her music rather than just assuming it was another pop thing I could safely ignore. Well, not personally, but you know. Although Eric Cartman is also partly to blame, lolz.

I have so many friends who have issues with Amazon - well only Amazon UK really. I think they have a weird sense of humor. I have people who have ordered texts and gotten what looks like bootleg stapled together books. It's annoying yet oh so funny. Let me guess, this book was supposed to be a Penguin reader? ^_~

I've only touched a PlayStation once, and it wasn't even mine. Granted I haven't been as productive as I should have been but currently working on my second paper which I hope to finish tomorrow. If I'm amazingly lucky I can finish the bibliography all on Friday and actually go home with three completed papers, since I lose most of the weekend between flying and the time distance (coming home is nice, I gain an extra 8 hours, flying back is not, I lose 8 hours). Then I can spend Sunday night preparing everything for class Monday, and spend Monday night and Tuesday night editing, turn them in Wed and run off yelling expletives. Should be fun.

Hahaha, yea I ended up liking Gaga before LK, but oh how that greatly annoyed me.

Also, the 30 second Snot Him video is really dumb. What a waste of creation. However since I was there I watched Crash Test Yami and Ishtar Christmas again so that was fun.

@JK: True enough.

I swear they've referenced DBZ at least a few times. XD It's one of my favorite anime, so I always get excited when they do.

Ah, yeah, I can kind of see the mouth full thing.

@Morgey: Oh, you poor baby, not having anything to get angry about. XD Good to see you posting again.

@Hawk: Well, I haven't had the Gaia Towns theme in my head for quite a long time (though now it may just decide to get stuck there), but I have had the Punchout training music stuck in my head for a few days, and by the training music, I mean the eternally repetitive version with extremely racist lyrics that someone made up. I hate and love it at the same time, because it's so terrible. XP I just don't like such a nasty word (and when I think a word is horrible, it's a pretty bad one) constantly repeating in my head... ugh.

@JK: It was an Ekans. =D Yay Pokemon nerdiness.

@Morgey: Heehee, I had a friend who liked Lady Gaga when she released like... her first song, so she showed me the music video and I got into her right away as well. I didn't even realize she was pop or anything; I just loved how friggin' weird she was, and how catchy her songs were. Also her fashion designs. Epic. Then she became all popular and associated with pop and stuff, and people started not liking her and calling her a man. Oh well, in the words of one of the crappiest shounen ai anime ever's title, "Suki na Mono wa Suki, Dakara Shouganai!!"

@JK: Well, I've used Amazon quite a few times and have never had anything short of great service/shipping/results. So I'm guessing it's the UK shipping that messes up a lot. How sad. ^^;;

And yeah, the Snot Him thing seemed more like something that could've been vaguely amusing from a random Youtube user, but I honestly expect a bit better from LK.

If they've just been verbal references they wouldn't stick with me as much because I haven't watched DBZ since middle school really, over a decade ago. So I might not have caught some of them. If I'm not familiar with the series it'll have to be a visual reference (like with One Piece) for me to remember it and all it's hilarity (or in the case of One Piece, annoyance). razz

Haha, so maybe I'm not crazy. xd

I knew it was a Pokemon snake. But I don't ever remember the names besides Arbok and duh on that one.

Lady Gaga I definitely got into her because her songs actually were catchy, in a unique not everybody doing it over and over again way. And

Yea that's why I was saying UK as well because I've never known people here to have issues with Amazon but I'm encountering it a lot with Amazon UK. And I mean specifically the company Amazon UK not the UK, because I have great service experience with Waterstones shipping in the UK, it isn't a shipping thing. Like with Morgey's problem and my friend's bootleg handmade editions of things which aren't what they ordered, it seems to be an issue with correct product.

Indeed, I want LK to post: "no guys, someone hacked my account, just no." Hehehe... razz

Um, I think at least once Ghost Nappa actually showed up... it was Nappa, but he was all white-colored... so I don't know if that's actually from a part of the show I missed, or if someone just edited it or something... aw, but I do love One Piece. XD That's probably gonna be the next big anime I start watching all of after I finish Yuugiou. Almost done with the first series now; just have three more episodes.

Haha, poor Amazon UK.

Yeah, that'd be great, but it's not like LK hasn't made stupid videos before, like that v****a one.

Again haven't seen the show in a long time so while I might recognize Nappa at the moment the name has no reference to me. Supposed to be writing papers now but if I have time I'll go search it later...if I remember. I totally believe you I just can't recall. By annoying One Piece I meant LK's response to One Piece, like stated I haven't seen One Piece. Probably be awhile before I'd get there. I still want to see Grand Prix (jus b/c I want to have seen all of the original series) and GX, I want to finish Naruto (both, and I'm still only halfway through the first I think). I need to finish Ranma 1/2 but I only have a few episodes left, I just didn't want it to be over. I want to watch Brotherhood, finish Inuyasha, watch Chrono Crusade...and then there were probably some smaller series I wanted to see. Who knows if I'll ever get to One Piece. Nothing against it though, LK was just annoying with it, heh.

Oh God, not the v****a one! I tend to repress his stupid videos clearly...guess I'll eventually do the same with this. razz

Okay, so it was bothering me and I looked it up. XD Nappa never is a ghost in DBZ, but in Team Forestar's Dragon Ball Z Abridged, they created Ghost Nappa as a main character, and he haunts Vegeta. Gosh, it sounds funny. Maybe I'll start watching DBZ Abridged now.

And that is a lot to watch. I'm just gonna watch those last three episodes of the Toei series, then Capsule Monsters, Genex, and 5D's. Then the new movie thing, then I'll go to One Piece. From what I have read/seen of One Piece though, I definitely prefer it over Bleach and Naruto and all those other big series. It does things more in arcs, like DBZ, so you don't get this one villain haunting the entire series, and it never gets old before they switch to something new.

And for the new LK video, I liked it a lot. XD I cracked up at the foot massage part.

Haha, well no wonder I don't remember this ghost then. xd

My only gripe with Naruto is it has a lot of filler, yet I'm OCD so I can't just skip around. Some of it I like, but some of it - generally the stuff that focuses on minor characters I REALLY don't care about - is not as interesting. It at the very least is not confusing. I don't mind one villain as long as it's not stagnant, Naruto you'll go about 50 episodes though and there just really won't be any villain. It doesn't help that 5 minutes of most episodes are recap. Once all but 3 minutes of an episode was recap, seriously it was only 3 minutes of episode. If they cut out the recap they'd have 100 less episodes, so ridiculous. ~_~

If there is a video up after Snot Him I'll have to check it out when I get back to England. I have to head to the airport in about 30 or so minutes. I'm kinda sad, looking forwards to going back but not ready to leave. Plus homework got in the way of so much I wanted to do with vacation, and now I won't be home for 6 months. :'(

Upside, I was never confronted by you know. So at least I didn't have to deal with that drama which I really didn't have the time for.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 16, 2011 9:48 pm

So I watched DBZ Abridged (there's only like nineteen episodes so far, most of them around 8 minutes, which is friggin ridiculous because so far they've covered over 60 episodes of the show; DBZ is just really good at doing elongated battles and filler, much like Naruto, though with less recaps), and wow, I love it. I'm honestly putting it on par with YGO Abridged, which is saying a lot, because I've always counted every other Abridged Series I've seen as significantly worse than YGO. And you know what? I can see why they turned Nappa into a ghost to haunt Vegeta after he died, because Nappa was, somehow, by far the funniest character in the series, even though he was a super minor character in the original. Though really, even LK really likes it; he's actually voices two large roles in it, as well as some minor ones (including the narrator and probably the most well-known villain in the series). So yeah, that's my two cents on DBZ Abridged.

That is insane... 100 episodes of recaps is like four times as many episodes as the average anime series has in the first place. That's... kind of sad. ^^;; I can understand how that gets old sometimes though. DBZ didn't recap so much as they just made time seem to slow down... I remember there was one point where they had a five minute count down until a planet blew up... and it lasted I believe eight episodes. It was ridiculous. So of course, if five minutes lasts eight episodes, you can only imagine how long it takes them to finish one fight, and there's a lot of fights and in-between time in that show. I don't know why I'm so patient with it and love it so much. Hell, I don't think I'd even get rid of the ridiculous amount of time if given the option. And now that I think about it, I do have the option, because they came out with a cleaned-up version of DBZ that was trimmed to be shorter and only include the important parts, and I have not watched it.

Yes, there's actually two videos after Snot Him now. The first ones pretty good, the second one, not so much to my tastes, but not necessarily a bad video.

Gosh, I know, Winter Break just went by like that. School starts Tuesday for me, and I'm all angsting that tomorrow will be my last day of freedom. Glad you didn't have to deal with that drama though.

Haha, good to hear about DBZ, I've found most abridged series to be not so funny as well. I don't know if I remember DBZ well enough to appreciate that abridged the same way I do YGO, but I'm sure if LK is contributing it must be amazing. ^_~ FMA and Naruto I think are the only other things I've seen much abridgment of and they are both just terrible.

Yea it's like the part of Naruto that is actually show is good, but it's buried in recaps. It's like watching each episode 3 times, when if you are actually watching them back to back is just ridiculous. Naruto needed some MAJOR editing, plus my brother has read the manga so I know they cut some big things out too. Why not put in the big things and quit it with some of the filler and all of the recap? Because the recap is built into the episode. It's not like YGO where they go "previously" and you can just skip through it. It's part of the next episode so it's hard to tell fast forwarding or skipping along where you actually should be starting.

Yea I don't remember being impatient with DBZ back when I watched it, I mean I got up at 6:30am everyday too watch it, couldn't have been that bored, haha. I can be patient with most things about Naruto because I do love the stuff that's good, but I'd definitely watch a cleaned up version if given the option of that instead. Not so much trim of the filler even, just trim of the recap.

I'll maybe get to the videos later, we'll see how far I get on my paper after class today (or before if I start my reading soon).

Winter "break" (had too much hw to really call it a break, heh) went by WAY too quick. Though I was torn by the pressure of "I'm going far far away again" so that's what sped it up for me. It'll be 6 months before I get back to the US this time, hopefully these 6 months will go better than the first 3 did. Have friends now, pretty much trying to shove sadness about the past drama with home aside. We shall see. Going to join the pool Thursday and look for a job next week I think, so that should help as well.

Yeah, I've tried a few Abridged Series here and there. YGO and DBZ amazing, Avatar and Pokemon were decent, and the rest were terrible. I've only watch all of the first two though. But yeah, the DBZ one does run and joke on the assumption that you've seen the show. It is kind enough to actually include parts where they explain the plot and why characters are going here and such though.

Ghh, that would drive me crazy. Especially because I'm also OCD and would need to watch all the recap parts. I don't mind a recap here and there, and even that one recap episodes completely dedicated to Jounouchi recaps that Kaiba and Yuugi didn't actually witness was quite enjoyable, mostly because of the commentary in between. But I would hate having to watch each episode three times just to finish the series.

Haha, I remember being so into DBZ, then finding out a lot of anime fans didn't like it because of how drawn out it was. I never even noticed how crazy long and repetitive it got until someone pointed it out to me, and I realized I preferred it that way for some odd reason.

Fun times. That does suck you got homework over winter break. But I do hope things are better for you this semester than last. I don't think my semester will be too great; I'll be applying myself to school from 8AM-6PM on Mondays and Wednesdays, 8AM-10PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 8AM-2PM on Fridays. Oh just kill me now. On the first four days I only get one hour break on each of those days, as well as break time I get on the shuttle rides there and back. And then I'm gonna have the same Japanese Sensei as last semester, so I know I'll get piles and piles of homework. *cries*

I think funnier, lighter shows are better situated for abridgment as well, which is part of why a lot of the other ones suck. I mean FMA and Naruto are really heavy (Naruto has a lot of fluff but the main plot is heavy and sad) so you either completely ignore the actual show (which makes for a boring irrelevant abridgment) or you try to make things that aren't funny funny (which leads to a bit of a depraved awkward abridgment).

I'm OCD too, so I do watch them all, but they annoy me, especially as I'm watching on my computer and even before I moved I recently found myself down to one computer. So I can't watch and do other things, not cool. And yea those recaps were amusing...although Yami lamenting losing Yuugi's soul over and over AND OVER again got old very fast. It's just annoying because the show is so long and it takes forever to get to a point, so the spaced out recaps make it hard to get through.

Yea I did too, though I don't know how much I would now, I was mainly 12/13 when I was into it. In part I haven't had a lot of free time on a regular basis in years, so it's probably more the stress of time than actual annoyance with slowness that bother me. I mean YGO taking 3-6 episodes to finish one duel never bothered me. Even the should be boring ones with minor characters I dislike, like Weevil.

Aww that sucks, well good luck surviving. It's only 4 months (see this is why I liked the quarter system, if it was awful it was over in 2 and a half months). xd Guess I really need to get cracking on the end of this paper. I finish the last paper and then life can be good again...maybe. ~_~
PostPosted: Tue Jan 18, 2011 10:38 pm

Yeah, I agree. I do notice on the few parts of Yuugiou (or now, DBZ) that are quite sad are always never as funny and kind of awkward when Abridged. Like Kaiba losing his duel to Pegasus, or Piccolo dying.

Oh yeah, I won't deny Yuugiou had it's fair share of overdone recaps. That one with Yuugi's soul and then (I don't think the dub actually suffered this one so much because 4Kids completely changed this scene) where Jounouchi gives Yuugi Red Eyes and tells him he wants to be a true duelist. I honestly think that was the most-played flashback in all of Battle City. And then there was the Freeza Battle in DBZ... that one was like recap nightmare; at least it was different parts of the fight, and they only showed the same part of the fight like... four times maybe? Then another 800 of various other scenes from that fight? XD

Haha, yeah, sometimes I would think the duels were overly-long, but it was more from a, "It's weird and unlikely they take this much time to announce and decide this one spell card" kind of thing, rather than a, "Just get on with the plot already" kind of thing. In Yuugiou card games are the plot! XD

Yeah, I try to tell myself it will go quick, but today was such a long day and I'm tirrrrreddd... *whine* I still haven't figured out when I'll find time to eat lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Ah well.

NOOOOO, Piccolo!! Heh, yea death and defeat are not funny, you know unless it's a character you absolutely despise. But even then the context of Kaiba's duel is too sad, I mean you'd also have to hate Mokuba, who hates Mokuba?

Haha, and that's exactly why it doesn't bother me too much, that is the plot. If I don't want to watch card games I'm watching the wrong show. I mean my least favorite episodes are usually the ones that have nothing to do with dueling. Like Anzu and her DDR contest (that is not dancing ok, it proves nothing), or any episode where Isis is speaking (hehe, j/k j/k...she does get annoyingly preachy though). The card games don't bore me though.

Mkay it's 6:40am, going to shower, write the intro and conclusion, and then I'm done. Head to the library at 8 and see how brain dead I am. If I'm gone I'll just print and be done with it. If there is still some functionality left in me I'll try to proofread.
