He didn't do much from the quiet corner in which he rested, he merely watched. They were trying to thwart his fun, he was certain of that, though he wasn't sure exactly what they were onto. Nothing he could sense in that book could be used against him. Frustratingly something had kept him from entering the house in which they'd gotten it. Kaiba seemed upset and antsy enough that it probably wasn't going to be of great assistance. Nonetheless they were making efforts, efforts that could prove successful. He wasn't certain. He had never been stopped or banished before, but that didn't mean it wasn't possible. He wasn't ready to give up his fun and end his game just yet, but he'd have to be careful to not let things go on to far. Failing his contract due to overindulgence just would not do.

'Great,' Seto said, hardly looking up from his work, 'let me just finish up really quick and...oh.' Seto had only just noticed the time. 'Damn,' he cursed, 'I meant to just come back and finish the book tomorrow if we really couldn't get out before the building closed tonight.' After he said this he noticed a distinct chill in the air, but he tried to push the panic away. He needed to remain levelheaded. They needed to get out of here. 'We should hurry,' he instructed, shutting down his computer and hurriedly packing his belongings into his briefcase.

'To the mansion to get some sleep, we'll meet this new contact in the morning and then come back and...damn. Hold on, before we can go I need to both set up the system to translate this book and then have it run a genealogy search on the results. Otherwise we'll just have to set that up in the morning after our meeting and possibly be delayed here another day,' Seto said, annoyed with himself for not setting up these protocols while Jounouchi was scanning.

Seto worked quickly, although he did take the time to set up protocols that would allow the programme to run online rather than directly on his system, so that if for any reason the power went down the task would still be completed by morning. He'd also be able to access this information from his laptop without coming back to the office. As they'd already been delayed it seemed worth taking the time to make sure they wouldn't have to come back to the office anytime soon, especially at night.

'Alright, it's done,' Seto told Jounouchi, who appeared to be keeping vigil by the office door, 'let's get out of here quickly.'

There wasn't a person to be found in the corridor, no lights emitting from any of the nearby offices. The lighting was all the bare minimum emergency type that gave the hallway an unsettling shadow filled ambiance, but was per usual. The lighting was efficient, and as Seto himself was the only member of staff to be found in the building after midnight had always seemed practical. However, in addition to procuring night security, he'd also be looking into a much more luminance evening lighting setting.

They reached the end of the hall and Seto turned to Jounouchi, 'well, elevator or stairs?' he asked, 'bearing in mind we are on the twentieth floor.'

((I can't recall if we've ever established anything - or if anything is canon - about the height of Kaiba Corp, and can't be arsed to go back through the rp and see atm - so sorry if this is breaking continuity somewhere. xd ))

'Stairs it is,' Seto agreed, leading the way into the stairwell. For the first several flights everything seemed fine. The pair would probably be a bit exhausted, and their legs most certainly would ache by the time they reached the ground, but exiting the building unscathed seemed likely. However, upon descending toward the thirteenth floor the air rapidly began to chill, and the already dim lights flickered unnaturally. Seto tried to ignore it, increasing his pace, Jounouchi quick behind him. In his hurry he lost his focus on the stone steps beneath them, and went flying down the rest of that staircase after slipping in an unexpected pool of water. He fell hard, head slamming against the marble step as he crumpled on the thirteenth landing. He thought he heard Jounouchi yell something, but he couldn't quite make it out. His vision was a sea of white light, his head screamed agonised. He closed his eyes, lulled by the pleasant thought of a quick nap.

Kaiba drifted between stages of consciousness as Jounouchi jostled him about, never quite able to grasp onto enough lucidity to form an intelligent sentence. He leaned heavily into the other man's chest, comforted by the warmth. Absentmindedly he started mumbling about his planned changes to Kaiba Corp. 'Night security, better light, carpets, carpet all the stairs,' he slurred heavily.

((Yea I watched it two days ago during an anime/manga discussion with my bf's friend who was over. He was totally a jerk, but cue Honda to lighten the mood. xd ))

With Seto more than a little disoriented, Jounouchi's hand slipping into his trousers and brushing against his thigh incited a significant amount of confused panic. 'Wha ar yoo doin?' he slurred, flushing crimson and shaking profusely. Although the shaking could have been less a product of the discomforting situation and more likely a symptom of shock.

((Ugh, so sorry for poofing. Last few weeks have just been hectic and stressful and I have been plagued by reoccurring headaches - that are bothering me currently but not as bad as they have been - that have made thinking just unbearable.))

'Phone,' he mumbled, attempting to think about where he placed it last while simultaneously willing himself to stop shaking, 'argh, office,' he groaned in response, realising he hadn't actually re-pocketed the mobile after placing it down to apply his system protocols.

((I'd assume stress, but I can't say I know for sure. Today's the first day I haven't any - thus far at least, but they are usually a persistent dull ache all day - so hopefully that's a good sign. As always quite stressed about money, but most of the rest of what's been weighing on me - other than the PhD always weighing on me, though I'm in an upswing atm - has been resolved with or made more manageable. So yea, think it's stress related. Will have to start exercising, doing yoga or something to de-stress soon. Hope all is been well on your end as of late.))
