i just noticed something strange. i bought a series by the creaters of tenchi the other day, called "parallel trouble adventure" or "dual!". while watching the a episode today, i noticed that the light hawk wings were mentioned. i just thought it was a coincidence, but then while watching more, i noticed a character was in common (personality, voice actor, name and all) shared with tenchi muyo GXP. then in the final episode, you can clearly see kiyone standing in the street. they ended the show on the note that they were going to colonize space. i think this may mean that dual is a prequal to the tenchi series.

I think I've seen part of what you're talking about and it's a turely awesome anime....although I do have to admit that it's a bit crazy to think of it as a prequal. Although I'll admit it would be rather interesting if it were true, I just can't think of any applications of how they'd do it logically to fit the Tenchi Continuum.....except for the fact that you're talking GXP which I know so little about @.@
